@@DangarMarine been same here, with moving from a 11 room house to an apartment complex (a temporary move due to our roof partially collapsing due to weight of snow). At least I still have a garage and a 'new' project: my 2 sons and I are going to convert an aluminum 14.9ft 'V' hull tower into a serious bass fishing rig over the summer. We plan on videoing each step.

The motor runs fine when ear muffs attached on land but when the motor is in the water, in FWD and i try to give it throttle it bogs down and won't go any faster than the "in gear" idle speed. New fuel was put in the fuel tank. Can you please give me some advice on what could cause this. Hasn't been used for 2 years, could it be carby issue?
As an electrician and electronics engineer I found your explanation of a multimeter being the equivalent of squatting over a hand mirror very enlightening ! Next time somebody asks for a detailed explanation of the fault diagnosis process I'll tell them that ! 😆
It's your fault that I own 7 outboards. 4 years ago when I started watching your channel I owned zero outboards. I currently own 7 outboards, most of which didn't run when I bought them. The correlation is undeniable. Thanks for all the great videos!

I'm always perplexed why most (all?) motors will still crank with the tether out. It could save so many people so much time troubleshooting if it fully killed the electronics!
Good to see you again Stu, I just bough a desktop white board and drew up how to wire up a 12v winch with a solenoid and remote receiver. Folks love the simple but detailed view. My ignition switch on my boat sometimes needs the contacts cleaned for the motor to start. Mine is like a car on the dash not on the control. After cleaning contacts I put a little dielectric grease on them.

The steel boat ting is in the lower scale of okay-ness, but fixing and flipping outboard motors is golden. Please do 95% fixing outboards from now on? But what is up with his looks? No shaving and no haircut? What, is he becoming a Troll? Soon he will be living under the Dangar Island bridge.

Good to see you Stu. And the D squad. One thing i do when working on unfused high amp battery lines is disconnect the negative terminal first and reconnect last. Otherwise that rachet the was used to connect the leads might end up channeling 12V into the hull if one is not careful. Not sure how many amps it takes to blow a ratchet.

Missed your videos, good to see you back. Had an interesting lesson last week, motor would not pull over, I succeed hydrolock, it is a newer mercury, and neither owner father or I realised that the gear shift and throttle were 1 control on the tiller arm, it had been put in gear and that locked out the pull start, so the pull start was locked until , the motor was shifted into nuteral
Just had this on my 4.3 mercuiser inboard. Wouldn’t crank at all. Battery was good and I was getting 12.8 volts everywhere. I used one of those lithium jump starter packs, put the negative on the battery negative, and then put the positive on the positive battery terminal… still nothing, then I put the battery pack positive on the input side of the isolator switch, and the boat fired right up. I took the booster pack off and I checked the voltage drop across the short cable from the battery positive to the isolator switch whilst trying to crank the engine and it was massive. New length of cable fixed my issue. Testing for voltage under load was the key to finding the problem. No load, everything looked fine.
Great, clear explanation of how to measure voltage and current around a circuit!!!! I have just bought a, AC/DC clamp ampèremeter/multimeter and I am ready to start checking and updating my electric system. Extremely valuable explanation 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 Thank you once again 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

Another one to check that caught me out was a loose cut out switch bracket on the console, such a simple thing that cost me a lot of stress. Once found it was fixed in less than a minute though.

Yes, deadman's switch is a common no start problem, but as Jackons says below, it will still crank which can be misleading.

Well I was expecting you to use your remote starter switch, however you determined the problem was before it even got up to the solenoid. Nice video!
