I have a high output, long shaft Honda 9.9 from 2001. it pushes my 30ft sailboat. a year ago the sailboat sank and sat on the river bed bottom for 4 or 5 days. after draining the engine and changing fluids, it still runs perfectly. Great motor.
I bought a clone of the Yamaha 6hp from a similar vendor on Aliexpress, and it's been fantastic. I paid a total of under $700 delivered and it's worked great on my sailboat dinghy for a year now.

26:07 back in the day me and my buddy went fishing early one morning, (we were on the water about 4am) i was in the boat while my buddy backed it into the water. i was just going to use the troller motor to get/keep it by the dock while he parked the truck but i started having a lot of problems. i have big feet (US 16 4e) so i learned that day that i cant easily control a foot pedal troller motor, especially in the dark. lol it was actually pushing me away from the dock and in every other direction besides where i wanted to go. i ended up in the middle of this huge lake in pitch black except for the single light on the dock and had to finally just give up on the troller motor and padel back but i couldnt find the oar either so i kind of panicked for a second and then laid down and started to swim back to the dock. after i finally got back over to the dock and the sun came out first, we found the oar that i was basically sitting on and then we realized that even with my problems the troller motor was wired backwards so it was actually working backwards so i was all kind of messed up. lol
I never did like a teturn spring on the throttle. I do a lot of alone fishing, and trolling. I like my old Evinrude. I can just set it how fast i want to go, and make only course adjustments.
I have great memories of riding down to the Jersey shore with my older cousin in a very similar ranger, this was in 2000 and it was already in similar condition
My dad died, because the return spring didn't work, he had a stall on the engine, so when he fixed it, it gave full throttle. My dad of course didn't expect that so he fell, hit his head on the engine and passed out, he ended up in the sea unconscious and alone. That's a bad design.. hope it can be fixed
An issue with the UpSide app... at least in my experience. It is only available at SELECTED gas stations. Not all. Also, many of those gas stations are further away and 10-30 cents more per gallon than the stations closer not on the app. Meaning, the gas stations you're using in the UpSide app, are rewarding you with 10cents a gallon, which you're already over paying by 10-30 (if you had just gone elsewhere). Also, .25cents/gallon back on your first tank - let's say 20 gallons, is $5 back to you. That's not the normal return. You're driving out of your way, scanning a receipt, doing the work, for a couple bucks a month? It's not actually saving you on money you're already spending.
I drive / steer right handed also...to me just seems more natural and comfortable.... I remember when Parsun first came out, which were yammy clones... people kept saying they were rubbish.. funny my brother still has his 15hp 2 stroke still going strong...they have a really good name now. Ha ! Having purchased several engines from "Bangood" and "Sterlingkit" I've become all too familiar with the strange wording of the instructions, especially for things like flywheel, needle valve and gasoline. They frequently say oil when referring to fuel. Not even going to go to the model airplane kit instructions, just wild. Google translates on crack.
I can relate to shipping time. I ordered a 25 HP electric start October 27th, No motor yet. As a previous post stated it seems it may be a Tahatsu clone more so than a Yamaha
For around 600$ you can get the parts to convert the Yamaha 9.9 up to a 15 horse.the Yamaha is a governed down 15 horse.takes about ten minutes to install the ungovern parts on the motor and your 9.9 is a 15horse afterwards
By "twined", they mean "entwined", that is to say, tangled or twisted up in/on/with something. The mention it re the kill switch lanyard and the prop, neither of which you want to get "entwined". Think of the word "twine", like "baling twine".
Certainly, let us know how long it lasts. Like a 6 monthly update and then at a year. It sounds like it doesn't want to idle much. And it seems like it vibrates a fair bit. In the past I've had a 2 stroke Suzuki 8hp oil injection, and a 2 stroke Yamaha 30CV (2-cylinder job) I now have a V4 130 Saltwater series Yamaha myself. It goes great, though maintenance has been key. Carbies cleaned, new impeller, plugs, thermostats etc.
The presence of the logo The letters C and E in a stylised ligature. The E is a lunate epsilon, shaped like a letter C with a horizontal bar. (from French, "conformité européenne" meaning "European conformity")[2] on commercial products indicates that the manufacturer or importer affirms the goods' conformity with European health, safety, and environmental protection standards
Chinese dieselheaters apparently are tuned down from 4kw to 2.5 for ease of production between models. Looks something similar here. Maybe it's really a tuned down 15 horse...
I'd try to adjust the carburetor on the Bisi. It sounds like it needs a bigger pilot jet. I'm not familiar with outboards, but I bet it would run much better with a carb tune or an aftermarket carb. It wouldn't die if it had an accelerator pump carb or a richer, Bigger pilot. Not sure if they have to tune them for EPA standards but if so they're going to run lean for emissions.
Not cavitation and cavitation plate. Cavitation is when water boils and takes the surface off the prop. Ventilation is when air is sucked in from above causing the prop to lose grip. So it's an anti-ventilation plate and ventilation that you were suffering.
Hi Mate - had a couple of different Chinese outboards before. All Yamaha clones with interchangeable parts. The big difference for me between the name brands and the Chinese clones was the quality of the alloys used. Loads of corrosion with the Chinese brands (my experience). Even bolts and screws eventually corroded away - but when things corroded I replaced with genuine Yamaha parts. All the Chinese outboards I had seemed to be clones of older Yamaha CV outboards. Bit of a false economy I suppose if you have to swap out bits and pieces all the time. Thanks for the Vids Luke - really enjoy your channel
In my early 20's I worked a lot of manufacturing jobs. Mainly a temp service different names but were all the same. In the daytime they made the name brand version, at 2:30 start shutting down, and 1st shift clocks out. By 4pm we start change a few things, and start pumping out the same item just generic brand. So one company owns the name brand and generic company. One time I was working and someone higher up took the name brand contact and a generic brand offfered them money to make the same item for a knockoff company.
28:15 man, i bought a 6hp Tohatsu and it took two days to get it working right. And tooped out as 9knts but on a good wave 15. And paid 1300 cad used. Man, this thing aint bad
Luke that throttle return spring is important. You can add a spring into the linkage near the carb. Without that spring if the operator falls out the motor will continue at high speed and the boat can/will circle around and run the operator over. I would definitely figure out the fix for that. The noise sounds like a rev limiter not a spun hub.
@@JedemPoKucama Most work, boaters do not use them. I know this from being in the business for over 35 years. I have personally recovered two, dead, good men. Both of those vessels had bad throttle springs and the worker was not using the lanyard. In both of those recoveries evidence showed that the boat circled around and killed the man in the water.
I think there is some crap in the carburetor, that's why it stalls some times. And maybe it could be a wrong adjusted air/fuel-ratio. And speaking of knock-offs, there is a brand called Seatan that makes outboards. Their 9.9 four stroke is Exactly the same as a new Yamaha, both looks and the same engine

HP to KW : divide the power value by 1.341 , so that motor is just under 9.8 HP or 9.78946 to be closer
7.3kW is shade under 9.8 HP, so just under the 9.9 HP it claims on the engine cover.

That Registered Trademark is a nice touch from Yamabisi.😆 Wow...There's also CE marking. I bet there's a "Patent Pending" marked somewhere also.
In the past I've had a 2 stroke Suzuki 8hp oil injection, and a 2 stroke Yamaha 30CV (2-cylinder job)
I now have a V4 130 Saltwater series Yamaha myself. It goes great, though maintenance has been key. Carbies cleaned, new impeller, plugs, thermostats etc.
Happy to see you posting videos on a Friday again
Good to see you doing okay 👍
The presence of the logo The letters C and E in a stylised ligature. The E is a lunate epsilon, shaped like a letter C with a horizontal bar. (from French, "conformité européenne" meaning "European conformity")[2] on commercial products indicates that the manufacturer or importer affirms the goods' conformity with European health, safety, and environmental protection standards
That is probably why its running lean too.
Chinese dieselheaters apparently are tuned down from 4kw to 2.5 for ease of production between models. Looks something similar here. Maybe it's really a tuned down 15 horse...

Danger danger
Its a stranger ranger 🤣
Luke, you are the BEST!
Try adjusting the shift linkage on the chinesium Yamabisi
Yes, keep testing the Bisi see where it goes...
You need to add a big pack of bubble gum, like Bubblicious or Bubble Yum to your Safety Throw Bag to fix the leaks with...lol
The main shaft likely is not shimmed right and sheered a bit. Hit it hard and that minimal mesh slipped and sheered
That Yamabisi looks similar to those Coleman branded outboards. Keep up the good work!
The CE is a European certification
It’s just a joke😅
Did you do a proper break in? If not they probably won't cover damages
He has a kill switch so it will shut off if he falls in
@@JedemPoKucama Most work, boaters do not use them. I know this from being in the business for over 35 years. I have personally recovered two, dead, good men. Both of those vessels had bad throttle springs and the worker was not using the lanyard. In both of those recoveries evidence showed that the boat circled around and killed the man in the water.
@@gradycooper475 damn,that's unfortunate...
Are you gonna be at the Chesapeake bay boat show this weekend? First day was today and it was a blast. I would recommend it if you have time.
31:55 You lost a peice on your motor......floating away!!!
Keep an eye on the fuel lines
What year engine was on the aluminum boat when you were a kid
We definitely need reliability durability videos .Just ordered four for my new center console😂😂
