    this movie traumatized me lol, the fact that simon was in the house the whole time and probably died that same night when he fell over the stairs. it was simon that pushed laura into the bathroom he was just dressed in tomas’s clothes to prove to her that he wasn’t lying about seeing tomas. such a tragic but beautiful movie, and great reaction guys!

    I feel like that "knock on the wall" scene at the end was creepier than every Conjuring film put together. Most of the Spanish-language ghost films I've seen are very much a blend of supernatural and real-world horror, with the real-world events being the the worse aspects-see Pan's Labyrinth. The father in that is way scarier than any ghost.

    Saw this in the theater when it came out, was warned by 3 different staff, ticket seller in the booth, ticket taker inside and usher at theater door, that it was Spanish with English subtitles. I said to the usher let me guess you had a ton of walk outs complaining about having to read the dialogue. His nod was so tired and defeated I really felt sorry for the whole staff. Also loved this movie, clever plot, some twists and lots of great scenes but it was the knock on the wall part that really had my tension up to 11

  • @CamillaDrakenborg
    @CamillaDrakenborg 3 ปีที่แล้ว +70

    As for the father, have to keep in mind almost everything if not everything happened to her, not him & months & months has passed & he is right in the sense they are looking for the dead while he probably still believe more in the kidnapped by family member so for him, who also probably dont believe in ghosts at that moment while in his own grief. He is a doctor, so he is driven by science & methodical thoughts most likely & may just see her having some sort of suppressed memory or whatever. So personally I feel it was quite understandable that he wanted away for a bit. The smile in the end was him at peace knowing she was not alone in the end, that she is at peace with Simone & Thomas.

    • @adrianpale2342
      @adrianpale2342 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely. And in the context of the movie, there is that one scene of the group therapy with other people who lost loved ones, and they explain how it's very common to see or feel loved ones after they pass away. So, the scene at the end is Carlos experiencing that phenomenon. He smiles because it is a moment of comfort knowing that Laura is still with him in spirit, probably with Simon also. Whether or not the ghosts and spirits are actually a reality in this film, can be debated, since the film follows the same concept as Pan's Labyrinth (directed by Del Toro), in which the audience can determine what is fantasy and what is not, or rather if there is a difference between the two at all.

    Not sure if anyone's already said but this is a based on Peter Pan. The guy that wrote Peter Pan - his brother died as a child his mother kept pictures of him around the house and to her he was always a child - the boy that never grew up. The only way someone can stay a child forever is if they die as a child and those are the memories you have of them. Pan's Labyrinth (some very creepy scenes) is based on Alice in Wonderland set during the Spanish civil war. Devil's Backbone is also very good.

    I'm writing this mid-video so idk if they figure it out but the kid attacked the mom because she was getting mad at her son
    ALSO the kids were just playing with SImon but the mom accidentally locked him in and so the ghosts were trying to get her to find him.
    ALSO ALSO idk if it was clear but the girl that was adopted from the orphanage and she bought it when she was older (the mom) and meant to start a community home for non-neurotypical kids.
    Lastly, the old lady is a ghost...I think
    can you believe I was forced to watch this in Spanish class? I cant handle horror films but I can appreciate this one OMGGGG

    I should've watched the movie itself but it was so intriguing that I ended up reading the summary then watching Itspremative's and your's reaction on it. However watching your reaction is what made me bawl my eyes and I'm honest, towards the end I really needed to stop twice to go and wash my face because of tears. I can tell this movie sure is underrated and tragedy. I love how there's no violence revolving supernatural element unlike other movies where ghosts are portrayed bad.

    Not sure if I've seen this one. Momentarily thought you had reacted to Orphan (2009) which was a wild horror movie. Also check out Mama (2013 with Jessica Chastain and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Splice. Mama was an underrated fantasy/horror and Splice was I think The first horror/R rated movie I saw in theaters and it still sticks with me.

    I saw this movie so long ago, I forgotten that I'd watched it. It was so sad. Sad horror is rare but it's good stuff. This recent past movie in 2020 Come Play it wasn't scary but had scary conditions but mostly it was just sad. I'm glad you liked this movie, I couldn't get my friends to watch it because they're against subtitles. People miss out on good things when they have unreasonable hang-ups🙂

    Now you have to watch "Volver" or "Hable Con Ella..." Or any other Pedro Almodovar film. Great, great films from Spain and amazing Spanish director.

    Something about this movie gives me "Mother!" vibes. I don't know if you guys have seen it, but Jennifer Lawrence is in it and it gets so insane. I really recommend watching it if you haven't!

    Why is the audio muted? 🤔

      I think they did it because of copyright. Most channels have to do it so the videos don't get blocked or worse. 😉😉

    The sound of the movie isn't working for me, is it a copyright issue or something? I'd like to watch it when it's fixed. :)
