Justification by Faith: Paul begins by emphasizing that salvation and justification come through faith in Christ, not through observing the Jewish law (Galatians 3:1-9). He uses Abraham as an example, highlighting that Abraham was justified by faith even before the law was given.
Curse of the Law: Paul argues that those who rely on observing the law are under a curse because no one can perfectly keep the law (Galatians 3:10-14). Christ redeemed us from this curse by becoming a curse for us, thereby fulfilling the requirements of the law on our behalf.
Promise to Abraham: Paul explains that the promise made to Abraham was not based on law-keeping but on faith (Galatians 3:15-18). The law, given later through Moses, did not nullify this promise but served a different purpose-highlighting sin and pointing people to Christ.
Purpose of the Law: Paul addresses the question of why the law was given if salvation comes through faith. He explains that the law was added because of transgressions, to show the need for a Savior and to lead people to Christ (Galatians 3:19-25). Now that faith has come, believers are no longer under the supervision of the law but are justified by faith in Christ.
Children of God through Faith: Paul concludes by emphasizing that in Christ, believers are all children of God through faith (Galatians 3:26-29). There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male or female-all are one in Christ Jesus and heirs according to the promise given to Abraham.
