    "She is what I am"
    Mary Harrington has an amusing line about becoming a mother -- the baby is like part of your body (an arm or a leg) that somehow became its own separate thing, but you still take care of it like it's part of you. Men should take care of their wives (and children) the same way.

    • @IamDoogy
      @IamDoogy 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      True.
      But remember, this is part of a larger biblical equation.
      The wife’s part is to submit to her husband.
      Many women have at least as much trouble submitting to their husbands as husbands do of taking on the role of sacrificial leadership.

    The problem is people who only look at half of what God says, even (or especially) Christians. Right after where God says the guy is in charge, the guy is required to love his wife sacrificially all the way up to dying for her. Which end of that bargain do you want? Today in dying secular marriage we try to say it's 50/50 (my wife and I both started that way) but it NEVER is. When the woman takes the 51% and demands the man sacrifice for her what do you think will happen? If the man demands his rightful 51 uet does not sacrifice what is going to happen? If you strive for 50/50 all you have is strife.

  • @WynTheGrey

    The verse in Ephesians immediately before "Women submit to your husbands" is "husbands and wives submit to one another". The glory of Christian marriage is that both submit to each other... neither attempts to dominate the other. Claiming the Bible justifies domination either direction is blatantly ignoring the same-passage context of the verses they misuse.

    • @laurenbatson5918
      @laurenbatson5918 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      You're still missing some important words. The husband is THE ONE head of the marriage. There must be one component that has the position of head. There will be instances where husband and wife do not agree and a decision has to be made. The husband has the authority to make that decision. That comes with the responsibility for whatever that decision leads to. It shouldn't necessarily happen often. But without ONE person being in authority over the other, chaos ensues. There are ways to do this that does not remove a shred of integrity or respect from the wife. It's an art that too few desire to study/learn. It's a shame, because it really shouldn't be a big deal.

      Leadership without domination depends on willing obedience.
      Why would one be obedient willingly? Because of the conviction that the leader has your best interest in mind, and knows better than you.
      It's quite a journey to get to that point.

    • @tylerp7522

      Submitting to one another in the fear of God. It specifically says wives submit to your husband's. The first verse is not meaning like husbands, take orders from your wife, it's like mutually dedicate yourselves to each other so as to not get the wrath of God. The second verse is specifically saying that wives should submit to the husband, as in be the second to the first, follow his lead, and potentially do what he says if it comes to that. And it's not a conditional command, so you can't break it if he just makes you feel bad and construe that as not being in your best interest or not following God to get out of your duties
