I'm a Bradford fan and didn't go to this game as there was nothing at stake for us. I lived about 2 miles from the ground at the time but had a clear view of Valley Parade over the valley from my back garden where me and about 10 others were having a BBQ. I had the game on the radio and turned it off just as the penalty was taken and heard the roar from 2 miles away! Amazing scenes. Wish I had been there.
That Bradford away day still one of my best footy memories special all round. Albion fans behind the goal were incredible visually and in volume after the penalty,
Man from a small village of Križovany near Trnava, Slovakia. I played against Igor in a Sunday league when he was like 40 years old me a bit younger, he was still superb athlete then and scored and assisted in dying minutes to turn the game around. Your old fashioned right wing in 4-4-2, very fast once get going, wouldnt score a lot but great crosser in full sprint and working so hard defensively. Intelligent man on top, Bališ is now running some construction business. There was a nice article with Igor about his life in Birmingham, shame its in slovakian language, but he only had nice words about the West Brom and all the great people giving him support in such a difficult time moving from eastern Europe to probably the most dificult football league in the world. Greetings from Trnava.
Saturday 13th April 2002... Igor Balis scored the injury time penalty in the penultimate match of the season. With only one game left, The Baggies leap-frog their bitter rivals Wolves to an automatic promotion place to the Premiership with a four point lead. The moment that made Baggies Men Laugh and Wanderers Boys cry... Cue the Crowd at 5:24 for immediate feedback. Legendary!
still get nervous whatching it i was in the bradford end that day there must have been at least 4000 baggies fans in the same stand as me it was amazing
That was an incredible day i will never forget, i couldn't get a ticket from the albion ticket office, they had all sold out, so i pretended i was a bradford fan and bought a ticket from the bradford website and sat in the bradford home fans supporters stand. I kept quiet all game until igor slotted in the penalty then i jumped up shouting and celebrating. The funny thing was half the stand were doing the same lol, alot of albion fans had the same idea as me.They said 3500 albion fans were there , it was more like 7000 fans. The atmosphere, tension and noise from the albion fans was out of this world, happy days.
@@daniellloyd9310 They threw me out when big dave scored :-[ I asked the coppers at Bradford if they were gonna throw me out if this penalty goes in and he said "nah you're allright, as long as you dont jump on me"
11 points clear Wolves were of West Brom with 7 games left. Some of the games Wolves lost near the end was down to pure pressure. One of them was at home to Grimsby, Millwall away cost them too. Fair play to West Brom for catching them. Getting that last minute penalty at Bradford was huge for Albion. I remember that season well, both sides deserved to go up along with Man City. To make it worse for Wolves, Birmingham went up through the playoffs. To be honest Wolves were never going to win the playoffs after that collapse at the end of the season. It's a different Wolves now that West Brom will face next season in the Premier League when they come up.

Love that roar when it goes in, class!
"3,500" says the commentator! Haha there were easily 6,000 of us there that day!
And the rest !!
Makes the hairs on the back of my neck stick up to this day.
What scenes!!!!
My favourite video of the baggies. The roar when it goes in gives me goosebumps BOING BOING!
The single best thing about this moment was the fan's reactions:
'PENALTY YEEEEAooohhhh no.'

Those were the days, what a team, we need a super Bob Taylor now like never before coyb
I'd love to have been in that away end.
+Daniel Lloyd I was mate..... absolutely amazing...... there were as many Albion fans in home seats as there were in the away end!
I've heard as much. If you watch the Palace highlights you can see fans jump up in their end when we score the first!

That fans sang themselves horse - Listening to our rendition of 'The Lord's my shepherd' almost bought tears to my eyes.
Fucking brilliant video. Gives me goosebumps!
I'm 46; Albion at Pompey, Albion at Bradford, Albion home & away Swansea, and Albion v Villa in about 89-90? Tony Daley scored, we was good then.
