- OH IT MUST BE PRESENTS: GREAT MOMENTS FROM VILLA VIDEOS
No 17 - The Italian Job
Just as a reminder that we used to be good, here's us beating Inter Milan on penalties in the UEFA Cup. Look out for Alan Parry and Kevin Keegan completely breaking character when Phil King's penalty goes in, a very young and pudding-bowl-haired Lee Hendrie celebrating with Ron Atkinson, and "Cunty" heading the ball away...

I'm an Inter fan and even though we lost this tie what fantastic childhood football memories. I was 14 years old at the time. Football was amazing back then...
You prolly dont care but does anyone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly lost the password. I would love any assistance you can give me.
@Royce Louie instablaster ;)
@Austin Quinton thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out atm.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Austin Quinton It worked and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much, you really help me out!
@Royce Louie you are welcome xD
No mention of McGrath & Ehiogu at the back, they were magnificent.
McGrath must have loved playing against Italians.
The way both commentators cheer for villa when Phil King scored his penalty. What a night that must have been
Was Kevin Keegan the then Newcastle manager club rivalries etc out the window when its one of your own in Europe
ik phil king lol legend
We were playing Newcastle 2 days after, no wonder Keegan was delighted Villa had just played 120 minutes
One of the best games I’ve ever seen at Villa park. Atmosphere was epic!!
With you on that one.
Atmosphere at this match and the Tranmere game in the League cup, it might have been the same season, was epic.
48 years a Villa fan, and them 2 games stand out like nothing else.
That era, We had a great team of swashbuckling players and the larger than life legend of a manager in Big Fat Ron!
@@anthonyduffy1278 mind you was at VP when beat then in 90 too just as epic. Milan had much better team then.
I was about 13 at the time, listened to the whole thing on the radio, not knowing it was live on TV the entire time until I came downstairs and saw the post match celebrations on TV as my mum flicked through looking for something to watch. She will never know my pain. Great times! UTV!
Ouch 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ that sounds painful! I was 12 at the time, however, I watched that game and this vid just took me back.
I did used to listen to games on the radio and it was not as bad as it sounds!!
@@nathanmoore7120 great times! UTV!
I was 7 or 8 & my dad took me to this game, in Upper Trinity. I didn't realise @ the time what a special game it was. Good memories UTV
Ron Atkinson's last hurrah as Villa manager.
What a night. I remember running on the pitch. Back then that sort of thing was seen as an expression of joy.
Yes. Now this is considered 'dangerous' in the nanny state.
It's been a criminal offence since 1991.
Yeah, the good old days when a pitch invasion was a celebration. Mind you, the several pints in The Adventurers before the game helped me sprint onto the pitch faster 😜
2023 - Joy is now forbidden. You can only say 2 words now……. They and them.
Houghton scores against Pagliuca again. 3 months after New Jersey USA 94.
Big ron was brilliant.
Newcastle manager Keegan loving extra time as Newcastle faced Villa on the Saturday after this Thursday UEFA cup tie!
I remember this like it was yesterday. I was in the Trinity lower stand , at the end the penalties were taken. When King scored, i just stormed the pitch without even thinking about it! What a night, what memories. Villa Park rocking is like nowhere else ❤
You Beauty!!!!
Tears in my eyes!! All these yrs later watching the highlights
30 years ago...jesus, wheres the years gone😢😢
I was there that night next to the inter Milan fans was crazy when razor Houghton scored and when Phil king kicked the winner inter fans were good about it shook hands
Alan Parry - "YES!!!" when the winning penalty is converted #accidentalpartridge
I was there sitting in the upper Doug Ellis I couldn't watch Phil King take his penalty, great days, I hope we will get a owner that will bring back the glory days!
fighting back the tears. what memories.
Remember this so well, went to school the next day standing tall as Villa supporter. One of the only times!
A lot of Irish lads threw their lot in with Villa around this time, with McGrath Houghton, Staunton and Townsend fantastic for them and Ireland alike. You see these lads in Birminham airport on Saturday evenings now, early 40s with a long face and maybe a reluctant kid or 2 in tow waiting for the Dublin flight.
Bad life choices are with you for life I guess. 31 years of pain later still worth it 🇮🇪 🦁
Stupid comment
Writing this at the start of the Champions League Campaign.
Thanks for sticking to the cause.! Happy days are here again. !!! UTV
Ray Houghton scoring against Pagliuca again
Typical of the great night games and the noise at Villa Park back then. For atmosphere this night compares with the 'Liverpool' thumping and the League Cup Semi v Manure when we were in the old 3rd division.
VTID
I was there as an excited 13 year old penalties were taken at the far end so view was restricted as everyone stood on their seats !!! All I remember is everyone falling of them when king scored that last one had no voice for three days !!! We need those days back and I'm excited by the sherwood era come on
What a fantastic atmosphere, and intensity of Villa's game, the perfect meadow, that's why I'm falled in love with English football, there'nt equal in others countries in the world!!
I was lucky enough to be there! In the top 3 atmospheres I’ve ever experienced at Villa Park ❤ the others being tranmere semi final 2nd leg penalties & 5-1 against blues UTV
The best atmosphere I've ever experienced at Villa Park. The place was rocking from start to finish.
Rocking indeed. Were you at the first meeting in 1990? Kent Nielsen scored an absolute screamer at the Holte End. I can still see him kicking it to this day... I didn't see it hit the back of the net, as the Holte errupted and I was lost in the mass scrum of joy !! Ohh what memories of standing on the Holte . Nowhere like it man, nowhere ❤
Houghton was a hell of a player.
Very underrated
He liked scoring against Italians around that time
Makes me so proud to watch this wish I could of been around to see it mind you the win against Ajax wasnt bad at all!
Missed it but I went to the San Siro for the first leg. What an experience.
Not that I particularly should being a Spurs fan, but I don't remember this at all. What a great night for Villa. Love the 90s!
good old days
I was there... the atmosphere was amazing
As was I. I miss these games at Villa Park, however, things are changing and my Villa are slowly coming back and will hopefully be a force in the game over the next few years. UTFV
I remember watching this on the telly. Some atmosphere that night. Just doesn’t sound like that anymore.
I was supporting Villa in this game even though I'm a West Brom fan. Such a very tense ending.
You sir deserve a medal well done
I was there as a 22yr old, best atmosphere ever at the Villa, although the 0-1 loss to Liverpool (McMahon, Rush, Barnes, Walsh, Nicol, Grobelaar et al), in the FA Cup, under G Taylor, was just as good.
Houghton LOVES scoring against the Italians 😂
I think that's Lee Hendrie , to the right of Big Ron at 3:59 , described in the Evening Mail report as "fan boy"
Was a fantastic game and Villa were on fire that night. Hard to believe a few weeks later Doug would sack Big Ron and bring in Brian Little for a relegation fight.
Great game!!
I remember being 12, jumping off my bunk bed when King scored and hitting my head on the ceiling. There was a head shaped mark in that ceiling until I moved out..so worth it!!
Trabzon 😂😂😂🇹🇷👍🏻💪🏻
Inters goalkeeper was a Villa fan growing up
" The Wall " himself was a fan of Villa?
Bring back them shirts, classy cuts
Best match at villa Park
Couldn't get a ticket as this was an 'all ticket' match so I watched it round a friends house in Stourbridge with 6 Villa supporting friends. Also as it was a night game and I was only 14 I had to be at school the next day! Throughout the game we were yelling and chanting and when Houghton scored we all ran out into the street, jumping around, so much so that some spoil-sport curtain twitcher must have complained as later on we saw a cop car crawling past!!! .
Now that’s how you take a penalty. None of this two foot run up and try and chip the keeper bollocks ⚽️
not many grounds do mate, back then football was proper, not like the commercial sky dictated pish we see now
No silly run ups, just good proper penalties.....i miss the 90s.
The only place you can capture atmosphere like this in the modern game is at Anfield now
Wait until Ashley is out of st James park it will be rocking
And not VP?? You mad??
It was nice watching this, the trouble is because of the way modern football has gone with mega billionaires buying clubs up from one mega rich club to the next.. The clubs with the real biggest home base supporters get over looked and from there get seen as small clubs and from there many of those including villa stop being as proud or ambitious for they're club and supporters while many glory seekers push them into unexistence fadding memory.. Like first it was Chelsea who was brought at the time that russian billionaire was worth like 30 to 20 billion and he spent the money at a time when it was just consistenly just man u and arsenal dominating the league and out spending everyone else and it was exciting and refreshing to see another club come along and do what they were doing to everyone else do to them... But its gone to far and i'm sure enough chelsea fans have seen it as many supposive chelsea fans jumped from glory seeking them to then when they were spending less and less to jumping shit and following man city as instead they had the money now turning the league into a even more stagnant and unhealthy league than what it was becoming when it was just consitently man u and arsenal rulling the roost!!!
been a while since a kind word for villa UTV ...come on the villa
Trying not to die laughing at work after reading the description and hearing Alan Parry saying "Cunty". PMSL
Both teams were knocked out by Helsingborg a couple of years later :D
Come on Villa... this is where we should be.
😞
Those were the days
Was that pagluaca in goal
Young Lee Hendrie there at the end looking about 12.Great game happy memories.VTID SOTC
He still looks 12 now.
I'm a liverpool fan, I remember back then I supported every English team in Europe except utd lol
Chisholm, do you mean the 4-2 thumping where Dean saunders scored twice
I have a soft spot for Inter Milan as a Villa fan, apart from the 2nd leg in 1990, we have had some good games against them.
ain't gonna lie! I really miss the atmosphere of a European night under the lights at the Villa..I was there that night bricking it as an inta player was warming up Infront of me pinging the ball from the corner straight into an open goal! about 5 times.,🤣🔥👌🏾💯
Gianluca Pagliuca must have been sick of the sight of Ray Houghton this season, the world cup now this.
ephabouyed well pointed out.
It's a shame that the stadium is no longer that atmospheric nowadays:/
Trabzonspor v Aston Villa 1:0 1:2 on second round and big disappointment
I say Palulka was sick to the sight of Ray Houghton that year... 😂
Pagliuca? 😆
@@alexsosa266 Bloody autocorrect! 🤦♂️😂
that was some villa team
Good match
Some could say it was karma that Sosa missed that penalty, in that if it hadn't been for his dive in the first leg then chances are the result on the night would've been good enough to take Villa through anyway. That's not to say that this isn't up there with the all time memories....to think I was just 9 watching all this in the Holte End
Wish I was there man I swear
Watching this now after finding out the roberto Carlos nearly signed for us then😢
I rem that fkin hell lol
Gone from this to losing against teams like Southampton
Villa was my favourite team until Arsene Wenger walked in England poisoning my heart for Arsenal
Wow aston villa uefa???
Second round 😂😂
Астон Вилла супер клуб. Я из России.
after this match villa would be drawn to trabzonspor.
then get humiliation for losing against them.
they say every dog has its day!!!😂
I saw those games, Villa missed so many sitters that tie, they deserved to lose.
Sh$t on the Villa
Forza inter
Trabzonspor King
Not so good In the next round
INTER INTER INTER INTER........ INTER THE BEST!!!!!! INTER WORLD CHAMPION!!!!!
Trabzonspor 🤘🇹🇷
