  • When in 1934 Princess Marina married George V’s fourth son, Prince George, it would be the last time a foreign Princess would marry into the British royal family. In the aftermath of World War I and with the fall of many monarchies there were just not many Princesses available on the marriage market and so King George V declared that his children may marry commoners. Through her marriage she became the Duchess of Kent but by birth Marina was a Princess of Greece and Denmark in her own right. She was the granddaughter of King George I of Greece with her father being his third son. In the next 7 years after her marriage to George, Marina gave birth to three children. Tragedy struck when only six weeks after the birth of her last child, Prince George died in an airplane crash. In today's video we will take a dive into Marina’s early childhood as a Princess of Greece and Denmark and how her life went after the death of her husband.
