More videos TOGETHER FOR SURE! And that's OK!
As someone who was an Intercultural Fluency Master Trainer for the British Council, this is such a powerful video with so many lessons to unpack. Thank you both. I loved every minute of it.
I have experienced the walking into shops with confidence and paying with cash scenario too.
I am not a big eater, but the snacking culture in Iceland is similar to the Netherlands.
Also what is it with some Dutch folks and fufu? I am really curious because my Dutch friend Jochem loves it and we go to Heavy Do, every time we are both in Ghana.

I still remember the first night we spent in Canada when my wife joined me from Ghana after 2 years waiting for her permanent resident status. It was Jul 16th. So not the longest day of the year, but still quite bright at 9PM and getting light again at 5 AM. She called it our "so-called night." A few weeks later I made an illegal left turn at an intersection where left turn between 4PM and 6PM was prohibited. I got pulled over by a cop who was just sitting there waiting. She was so impressed by the politeness. She called him a sweet police officer. I still got the ticket (of course) and there was no "Oh! I beg!"

Y'all seem like y'all can sit and talk to each other for 24hrs and not run out of things to talk about or get tired.... And both of you are not just great conversationalists, it's the topics y'all talk about as well 😍

Love this! When I traveled back to Canada from being in Ghana for 3 months, I flew through the Netherlands and stayed to visit friends there for a couple of weeks. I don't remember the culture shock of arriving in Ghana as much as I remember it in the Netherlands. My friend and I got on a bus and it just hit me how quiet everyone was, how much space we had, how clean it and orderly things were. Canada is more like the Netherlands, so I have definitely missed all the hustle and bustle of Ghana (even though when I first arrived it was a bit overwhelming). Love your stories together!

It's that feeling when you step off the plane after the flight, take in the atmosphere and think, "Wow, I am far away from home. I have travelled far, I'm on another continent". As for the feeling of the the atmosphere wrapping itself around you in a welcome embrace when you arrive at KIA, it's just the humidity!😂 Thanks for this very nice, insightful video about travel.

If you ask where are the people, you will ask that in Iceland a lot, for a country of 350,000 people.

I had such a similar experience to your wife as a Ghanaian born and raised in the Netherlands and then moving to Ghana. Like getting used or annoyed by time management, sometimes being call oboroni even though I'm fully black, and also the moment when you leave the plane and feel the smell and warm welcoming atmosphere of Ghana. And I can't even eat big meals 3 times a day. Ironic how I could relate more with the person who doesn't look like me compared to the one who does.

Omg this video ia so freaking funny especially kwame experience in NL. Is indeed very decipline beaufiful infastrucgerd and the roads are very good you know is a white mans countury so is well planed... but what make me laugh hard is about the food hihi so funny how difficult for you to eat bread instead of heavy food, well just like me born and raise in ghna so you know our breaskfast is always heavy like you said. but since l live in NL for a very long time l can never ever eat heavy food as breakfast.. nee erste koffie drinken met wat en maak niet uit hoelaat het is altijd koffie of tea en smiddag brood met beleg of fruit dan eind van de dag round 17 of 18 uur als ik thius bent van me werk dan ga ik warm eten. Dus als jullie volgende keer in NL vraag lleen je wil naar amsterdam zuidoost biljmer voor lekker africans eten haha.. Maar ik heb genoot van de video.. Groetjes.

11:42 If Ghana wants to become a Industrial Nation they will have also to adopt to that timing of the Machines, Industry and Businesses. You can not have both Worlds. Machines needs to be operated, Deliveries have to be on point, Contracts have to be fulfilled, otherwise you can not compete as a industrial Nation. Timing or that "soulless" is more a Industrial Cultural necessity than an Issue of Netherlands vs. Ghana. Does not matter if Europe, Asia or Africa it´s industrialization demanding its sacrifice, on the other hand it has also benefits. However, Peace from Germany.

Interesting to know the differences between GH and Holland. I was born and raised in the Netherlands. So I'm not used to the Ghanian ways of living. I can't wait to visit Ghana and live there for some time. 😊 thanks for this video.

Hey Osei Kwame. I loved this particular one so much because it resonates so much with me. I plan to watch it together with my wife too😂😂😂.
Anyway how was the struggle with language? Do the Dutch speak English often?

    • @fremekwame
      @fremekwame  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

The Dutch speak english all the time unless they're among other Dutch people so it's easy for a foreigner to navigate the Netherlands because almost everyone speaks English

@@fremekwame , oh wow that's interesting to know. It's a little different in the part I live in Switzerland. It's makes it very difficult with integration. I really enjoyed this particular video. Thanks so much again

I'm a UK Ghanaian but I've always liked the Dutch people. In fact, had I not met my Guyanese British wife in London, Amsterdam was my next destination to find a lady.
However, our first born was conceived during a trip to Amsterdam though. 😂🤣

With regards to food, you probably need to find the Afro Caribbean community and shops in Amsterdam. I’ve been there before so I know it exists.

Speaking of soul-less... I think the biggest thing between Canada and Ghana has been the lack of social connection. Who could possibly pass 5 years without being at a funeral or wedding or out-dooring? Answer: a Ghanaian in Canada.
