      It’s a 50-pole flatcable with clamp-on connentors, which I clamped on every 300mm (1ft). I use 2 of them for feedback to the command station (100 feedback wires).You can buy cable and connectors at Digikey, Distralec and even Conrad.

  • @johnjeanb

    Question please: You seem to have mostly M track. You show how to make a detection zone by cutting rails with a Dremel-like tool. How do you do that on M track? (have you found a simple way to insulate rails from the metal bed?)

    • @marklinofsweden
      @marklinofsweden  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Best for M-track is to isolate center rail and connect a s88 DC. However.. If the tracks already glued or screwed down.. It’s not so easy.. Actually pretty hard..

    I'm not that familiar with rocrail, but if you have a hostname on all of the network devices that normally require a static IP address you could possibly just switch to DHCP and connect to the hostnames.

    • @marklinofsweden
      @marklinofsweden  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For network connection methods I would like to refer you to the documentation valid for Rocrail and the command station you have.

    • @JER0EN
      @JER0EN 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marklinofsweden I've taken a quick look at the documentation and it looks like connecting via hostname should be trivial for the rocweb application.
      Doing a fulltext search of the wiki shows a lot of "Hostname" or "Hostname or IP" matches, so I think that switching to connecting via the hostname could be achievable.
      I actually use a raspberry pi at home, which is both the DHCP server and DNS server. Usually I connect directly to the devices at home using hostnames of the devices, some of them even have a static DHCP lease and I can manage it all from a simple web UI.
      If needed I can even make custom DNS responses, it is really handy.

      Hi! RocRail has improved a lot in terms of user friendliness over the passed years. When I started out using it in 2001 it was a mess. Very programmer-close-thinking and almost only German documentation. Today it has great wizards and other built-in auto-functions, which helps you up and running much faster than before. The english documentation is also as comprehensive as the German.

      @@marklinofsweden The best thing at rocrail it's not only open source, but also open minded. You can realize everything, no matter which scale, no matter which System. For example the turnouts. You can implement feedback or not, polarized frogs, motors or magnets and you can choose between nearly all available digital systems.
      Of course there are a lot of options, but that's the price you've got to pay for this freedom!
