I just noticed that the development in Bacolod is more spread out while Iloilo is more compact. Major infrastructure projects in Bacolod are sprouting in Lacson Street and other major avenues in the city, while the building projects in Iloilo are concentrated in business districts, like the Iloilo Business Park. Both cities are great and I love them both.

the land area of Iloilo City is just 1/3 of the land area of Bacolod. Both cities are developing. After years of neglect, Bacolod is recovering.

Having an ilonggo mother and negrense father gave me the opportunity to live in both cities. I guess they're both beautiful in their own ways, with so many unique experiences to offer. But for the sake of comparison, Bacolod for the food and people, and Iloilo for lifestyle and adventure.

However I still choose Bacolod even my family origin is from Iloilo and originally I'm from Negros and I was born in Negros, don't know why but my heart says Negros. Maybe.., 💖💖💖

People fr bacolod came fr iloilo so there should be no fight & comparison. Parehong dialect & the only difference is their accent. Mas malambing magsalita ang bacolod kahit galit than ilonggos. Why? Kasi asyenda ng sugarcane ang negros occ so nalasing sa sugarcane kaya mas malambing mag ilonggo, ha ha ha. I am ilonggo.

Jay Guimary , B.C.leadership has change,(looking forward to that challenge in comparison) and they are facing a multifaceted endeavor which they have to face when your moving to a different level of progress, planning is the key as larry from ph said and city has started by moving one block to fave the way, housing/shelter will start in months time, health infrastructure simultaneously within a day for both(Bacolod/Iloilo), modernity will come. With a green ambiance as the identity of Bacolod city and going will in that direction, tall building , facilities, transport is changing also it will just follow as what Kota Kinabulu has done, but i rather like the authenticity of a Bali, Indonesia concept .Green environment., modern facilities, few tall building. Just watch the metaphor of NIR if implemented and B.C a metro with(Bago/Silay/Talisay,Murcia) the place is treasure trove of green adventure and wonder, a contemporary landscapes of the city architecture and heritages then progress follows , on the side note never appreciate the box type of metro manila structure, if we cater for tourist/vistors arrival they look for authentic environment for they already seen and live with modernity, thats why they dont stay much in metro they go and explore the islands and one such island and city is Bacolod, Negros

    ***MOST HONEST OPINION HERE***
    FACTS:
    1. The REGIONAL CENTER of Western Visayas where Bacolod and Iloilo are both situated is located in Iloilo City for a very SIMPLE fact that Iloilo City is much closer to other provinces in Region 6, namely Aklan, Antique, Capiz and Guimaras, they all belong in the same island of Panay. That makes transportation much easier for the people living in the nearby provinces unlike if the regional center is in Bacolod, the people in Panay will have to cross the sea to get to the city. That brings us to the next point, BUDGET AND INFRASTRUCTURE.
    2. Normally, regional centers in each region are assigned to cities based on their size (land area), population, economy etc. Bacolod City, tops all indicators mentioned. In fact it was named "Best Place to Live in the Philippines" by MoneySense Magazine in 2008 and the "Most Livable City" in 2012 for having the best quality of life (economy, technology, infrastructure, education, health etc.). BUT again, it's far away from other provinces in Region 6, which is why Iloilo City is the regional center now and because of that, they are at the top of BUDGET and PRIORITY PROJECTS distribution from the national government like all other regional centers, not to mention that they had 2 ELECTED SENATORS who helped their city a lot namely, former Senator Drilon and the late Senator Miriam Santiago. Bacolod City on the other hand is the epitome of a true INDEPENDENT city that despite having NO backer from any national officials, it has THRIVED REMARKABLY and OUTPERFORMED other major cities in the Philippines in terms of economy and infrastructure.
    3. LAND AREA, Bacolod City is the largest City in Region 6 with 160.71 km2 compare to 78.34 km2 land area of Iloilo City. This explains the limited urban space of Iloilo City which also translates to many other limitations, that is why if you check the video here, most of the buildings (big, small, high or low) are located in the same area or space, in Filipino dialect, 'SIKSIKAN', no more space for greeneries like in Singapore. On the other hand, Bacolod City has a very well-organized urban planning due to its MASSIVE SPACE so all the buildings and other urban developments are equally distributed in different major business areas, and yes, they maintain a considerable well-balanced greeneries across the city. As a worker in a Real Estate company in Makati, I've already seen the existing projects of both Bacolod and Iloilo, both have a very good potential in becoming the next super cities in the Philippines BUT, Bacolod City will have more developments like business parks than Iloilo because of its size and economic potentials. With both finished and ongoing projects of real estate developers like SM, Ayala, Megaworld, Rockwell, Vistaland etc. plus the change of leadership in the City of Bacolod, you can expect a SUPERCITY STATUS in 2028, after the Marcos administration. Mayor Albee Benitez of Bacolod and President BBM are friends in the background and so are their sons.

The testament of your facts and figures, that’s why, NIR will create and differentiate the island from different region,it grows and can’t no longer hide as divided island, the passing of time and the abrupt changes are the option to be given and be a separate regional capital, then I could say it leftfrog the rest of regional center, and it is moving in that direction
