Tiburcio Vasquez at Lopez Station

- This is a chapter of the story of Lopez Station. It's a BIG story, and I'll be doing it a chapter at a time. I quoted Jose Jesus from The Saga of El Tejon book by Frank F. Latta. He interviewed Jose from 1916 until Jose's death in 1939. The location of the Lopez Station is a few miles from me in Granada Hill's. It was the 1st stage station, English speaking school, 1st Post Office and General Store of the San Fernando Valley. Over the years I've read several accounts of Vasquez and his capture, it's covered quite a bit on You Tube and on the internet. JJ's, they called him JJ, account was slightly different. The drama in the family was that Vasquez had gotten his niece Felicita pregnant. Vasquez was a cousin of JJ's mother Catarina, maybe he didn't know. He didn't seem to know him anyway. The last part of the story of his trial, hanging and grave are not JJ's words, but an epilogue. Vasquez's gang robbed and killed quite a few people during his life, he was a lady's man and didn't care if the women were married or not.
Many, many thanks to my dear friend Cristina for letting me use her AWESOME music once again!! This is a link to her latest video!

Thank-You very much Marco from Cristina and I!! As you know I LOVE my local history! CHEERS!
WOW!!! What a colourful character Vasquez was ..... a real bandido!!! He looks a lot taller in the excellent pictures you have shown us dear David. He came from a reasonable background yet he developed into quite a frightening character with low morals!!! He had affairs with married women and amusing that it was one of them that lead to his downfall. He really used and hurt a lot of people especially when breaking out of prison. He certainly was very self confident .... no conscience perhaps!!! Excellent narration and presentation dear David. Beautiful white horse even if it was stolen lol!!!! Very interesting chapter ..... thank you dear David!!
Best wishes,
Lorraine 👍🏻👏👏👏🤗
Thank-You very much Lorraine from Cristina and I!! No, Vasquez wasn't a very nice person! Lopez Station was quite a place back then, I love how JJ goes back and forth to his parents and the Tejon, where his job was, then LA and Hollywood. That's a lot of riding. The Tejon is 50 - 70 miles away, depending on exactly where he was going, it was a 300,000 acre Rancho. It's still in business, cattle, crops, a movie location etc. Here's a link to it, if you'd like to look! th-cam.com/video/tGyHULNPiK0/w-d-xo.html On tot he next chapter...Take Care!
