The Life of a Mexican Gang Leader 200 Years Ago - Tiburcio Vasquez

- California 200 years ago, looked a lot different than it does today. Back then there were no cars, no tv's or phones, houses didn't even have electricity. But one thing that's the same today as it was back then, is the existence of gangs and gang leaders like Tiburcio Vasquez.

It’s comedy when the Karen’s say go back to your country 😂
“Riding a stolen horse” 😂 back then’s equivalent of “suspect is in a stolen vehicle”
😂 hey that's my horse look at the branding cuh
Horsejacking😂
He became a bandit in his own land, in his own home, trying to get back what was taken from him in the first place. Same story, different characters!
Can imagine how the indians of that land felt
@@martinjenkins8270well we Mexicans have 40 to 60 percent native blood, so we have those rights also.
@jms6605 more then that my grandma has way more then that.
@@jms6605I don't consider myself Mexican or American. I'm indigenous or indio👌

Please do a story on Joaquin Murrieta. He is also famous in Monterey, CA County for his exploits against the gringos.(Green Coats). Thank you for this insight about Tiburcio Vasquez.
Sad how monterey and vallejo didnt get stolen they gave in to the gringo government because at the time MEXICO CITY did not provide the resources these two villages at the time repeatedly requested. California citizens basically begged to become AMERICAN CITIZENS
Joaquin Murrieta was the one who inspired El Zorro, if I'm not mistaken.
@@OcelotonatiuhI think so
That’s correct.
My Grandpa used to tell me the story of Joaquin Murrieta
According to the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, Vasquez was also an "American citizen."
They didn’t care about that if you were brown.
@@alltheangels648he’s brown? Look more olive complexion
The shade of his skin had nothing to do with his right to be a native Mexican American under the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo regardless of whether it has always been attempted to be whitewashed .
@@alltheangels648he wasn't brown
I think he was right in his actions, because after the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was signed by the U.S. , which recognized and agreed the Mexicans and their lands / property would be respected . The Mexicans would now become American citizens and retain their property, but that did not happen. Infact more then 600 Mexicans would be linched throughout the gold rush .
The "american whiteman" is never to be trusted. They broke their treaties with the indigenous population, they did same with the Mexicans. Hell, they even looked down and mistreated fellow "whites" (Irish and italians).
Ok and what about the stuff Mexicans were doing ?My ancestors were Literally Slaves to Mexicans cause they wouldn't give up their land. Yaqui Natives were treated horrible by Mexicans had them as slaves till the 1900s
@@homestead3314those were white washed Mexicans and we don't claim them, im sorry for your ancestors. 🙏😔🫡
@@homestead3314what about the USA they took it all and Mexicane are half native
I want RDR 3 to be based on this guy’s story.
I agree 💯

California 200 years ago looked a lot cleaner/safer than it is today.
That’s right before it was littered with Europeans lol
Lol stop crying about the crime just deal with it lol
@@209rickMOTOWNsad but true
@@209rickMOTOWNlol
@@209rickMOTOWNit definitely had people of european descent. The mexican man in the story is obviously a mestizo w more spanish than indian blood. And some mexicans were full european criollos.
Thanks for posting. Vasquez was a complicated man. It’s hard to know what is legend and what is reality. I believe that he wasnt the person who killed those people at the General Store up in Northern California. An interesting side note is that Vasquez was captured in what is now known as West Hollywood. It was part of the La Brea Rancho back then.
Awesome story never heard of the guy! You should also do one on Joaquin Murrieta similar story!
Cast Michael Peña in the biopic. The resemblance is strong
😂
He does resemble Peña but crossed with Christian Bale.
The whole town Vasquez robbed was Kingman CA. He did this to out do Jesse James, whose gang had robbed the first train in U.S. History. James and Vasquez used to read about each other in the Newspapers one in Missouri, the other in California. Nobody before or after Vasquez has taken over and robbed a whole town anywhere. The town where the 3 people got killed was Tres Pinos, now known as Hollister. They caught Tibercio at Greek George's place in the Hollywood Hills, above little Tujunga canyon, in West LA. Brought him by stage to San Jose CA, as there wasn't a courthouse in Tres Pinos. There he was Jailed, tried, and hung 1875. A year or two before this, his Compatriot and fellow Bandit Juan Soto from Rancho Milpitas CA, now just called Milpitas, was trapped at his hideout in the Santa Cruz mountains and killed in a duel with the Alameda County sheriff. After the death of these two men it was the end of the Mexican, Californio, Bandito gangs in California. Murrieta one of the first, Vasquez probably the last. BTW Vasquez had a Grandfather by the same name who was once Governor of California. San Jose was California's first city, as well as it's first State Capital, followed by Monterey, and finally Sacramento...
I imagine prison must of been so hot in the summer and so cold in the winter since there was no electricity
This video dropped is prefect for Hispanic Heritage Month 😁💯
Mexico CALIFORNIA
Its the other way around buddy 😂
Alta California México
Califas rifa 😂💪🏽
Vazquez and Joaquin Murrieta are the inspiration for Zorro the legend.
I was this guy on my previous life, thank you all so much for your kind comments.
Many movies and tv shows were filmed at Vasquez Rocks, thereby encasing him even more into CA history as many people will hear of him thru those.
I heard they named an upcoming Elementary school here in Cali few years ago after him but the "woke" culture had the name removed ...they shouldn't be erasing state history in my opinion
Yes sir that happen in Salinas CA
I don't know if a murdering and thieving outlaw is what elementary schools are all about. I can see why they did that.
That's California for ya a bunch of woke idiots
Bro Im mexican and grew up in the barrio life, when you choose to commit crime, you know you are the bad guy and will receive no special accolades, much less having things named after you😂 that's like a slap in the face of all the victims and law abiding society in general. Edit: my point is, wokes got nothing to do with it
@@koopspookyou must not know about Christopher Columbus 🤡😭🤣
Tiburcio Vásquez, like Joaquín Murrieta was also a victim of discrimination. Can you blame him? After the United States “stole” Alta California Mexicans were treated worse than dogs. Long live Tiburcio Vasquez , Joaquin Murrieta and Juan Cheno cortina.
Interesting a group of politicians stealing 1/3 of Mexican (Native American) country referring to this man a robber. The same applies to Jessie James, being robbed by northern carpetbaggers and then calling him a robber. I guess its true depending on who has the power to say who is a thief.
You mean Native American country prior to the Europeans taking it. Mexicans were being still being created!
Mexican and native Americans are different .
Mexican people are mixed .
Born in the usa, that was Mexico 🇲🇽
That's is backwards born in Mexico than now is USA
This is a great story. All that you do are great!
Tinurcio Vasquez was great a Mexican and a great hero that I will always remember fighting against all the whites. In are eyes Tinurcio is a hero because he fought against the whites for taking Mexico land.
Easy there racist

Viva Tiburcio Vasquez !
He was a Californio, rejected by Mexico as well as the States, his blood Lines were Spanish, Indian, and African, check it out...
It was Native American land first! Then Spanish, then Mexican.

Tiburcio Vaquez and Joaquin Murrieta were both inspirations for the character “Zoro” in TV series and movies.
BTW Joaquin Murrieta did not fall for Love. VIVA LOS CALIFORNIOS y VIVA LA RAZA
I clicked because he looks like Christian Bale. 😂
Beautiful story
They should get Shia to play this guy next 😂😂
Fortunately, there were no cringy celebrities either. 😂

Its always over a women lol 'even 50 thousands years ago any fights n disagreements the Australian aboriginal's had were always over females. 'Just watch Williams Buckles story the first escaped aussie convict who lived wit the natives for over 20 years..
Well sex is a powerful motivation. Not so much women. Amongst gay men as well lol sex is powerful for men
That's how you explain two male specimen fossils with brunt force to skull injuries and a female fossil with spine damage 💀

I have never heard a narrator with a voice like this.
Mexicans are one tough native American people I don’t play with them they survived to all these wars I’m amazed
Many are pure Crillo ( Spaniards Descendants ) .
Many are Mestizo ( Mixed Spaniards with Native ) .

This is the stuff I wish they tough in history. Not other countries that had nothing to do with our history. Maybe kids would find it more interesting.
Once you let people invade your land they never leave !

Didnt know there was gangs 200 years ago
Billy the kid. The Barron gang. The outlaw cowboys
Italians have had thr mafia and low level gangsters for over 200 years though...
The Triad, a Chinese gang goes back even further. The Russian gangs also go way back.
They had street gangs in ancient Rome
Bandit
Damn homies were doing g rides 200yrs ago on horses😂😂😂
Not sure why Murrieta gets all the hype. Vasquez was way more prolific, and successful as an outlaw.
Original vatos locos
Aka: The In-Famous El Guapo.
Im a direct decent of him
So his weakness for women were a big part of his downfall. Banging his friends wife that was a part of his gang is foul.
And just before that happened California already had European settlements From Spain along the coast and some inland. Until the Spanish Kingdom dissolved in 1821.
Arriba Los Vasquez! Im a Vasquez
What do you think happen in Texas? the same robbery
Zoro but with merry men. His undoing seemed to be his appetite for the wrong women.

That is sad for the mexico born American who were born in California before it was. Part.of the United States
The story is ok....the fact that she's saying "invading America" needs to be corrected due the reason that America isn't only USA, America is a continent divided in 3, which is South America, Central America and North America........It would have been properly just to say "Americans invading another Americans territory......Please!?!?!?!? It's so simple, get it right the next time.
Moral of the story, "keep your pistol in your pants and your guns loaded!"
Juninho Merritt fait was set because he was born in California befor 1848
Finally, this is clear info. That Mexicans were the first gangs in California, 😂. No disrespect, but that is where crips and bloods got they attire, with chucks, dickies and falnnels 💯💥💥💥
Yeah but who is/was the real gang here?
That's my grandpa
