Thank you TFL crew and Wren for this iteration of Rep Your Set. Very informative. I'm looking forward to when it's not so intense to an install process. I'm enamored with the work that Nico and SurfDado are doing, but I need something far more plug-n-play.
With VESC 6.0 it's so easy. The float package has ridable default values already in it. Just run the motor config and IMU wizard and you're off to the races
@@thechickentendy3982 by plug and play, I'm talking about not having to crack open the cases, muck with wiring. Asking me to solder anything is only marginally less dangerous than asking me to juggle torches after showering in gasoline. Surfdado's video still includes soldering, and I'm nowhere near anyone that works on Onewheels, let alone one where I'd trust them to work on it.
@@SeanPaulNotTheSinger I got the DIY kit from MakersPEV. No soldering at all. They also do the pre built box which is even easier.

I think VESC breathing new life into old, dead or unsupported models is amazing. It’s like dropping a LS1 into a classic car. More features, more power and whole renewal on life.

The remote feels like being able to put the board in elevate and reduce tail drag going down hill on the fly which is sick for trails and racing! 😱

Lmao the exact same thing happened to me the first day of me testing the SureStart on my GT 😅 I turned the disengagement delay off completely, went to do a simple drop and tail dragged across the pavement until I nudged the nose back down and the board registered me again! Went for another try just for reassurance and busted my ass. Needless to say I quickly realized the issue and increased the disengagement delay to 400 milliseconds. Glad to hear Wren point this out! Float on my friends 🤙

Been considering building a VESC for a while and the time is definitely nigh. I hadn't been keeping up with the scene and this remote tilt control idea was new to hear and VERY innovative for some of my trail riding desires. I hadn't even thought halfpipe when Wren said it, mind blowing to think onewheels could finally do that someday. Not gonna be me in them, but would love to see others do it

I love this. Been actually thinking of recording a "rep your set" of my current set up. I took my xr from stock to very much not stock at all and I love my set up and I have thought about making one on it. I got a few TFL parts in it and she is a great board. I'm not even a trick rider and my Bangs are still among my favorite upgrades. Yall have always been my favorite onewheel parts company. Your quality of not only your parts but more importantly the stoke you bring to this community. I always try to go through yall first for similar products. Rep your set videos, are always great and I very much enjoy them. More of these would be cool. Also I followed Wren back when he had his V1, been cool seeing him in your videos.

Great set brah! This is effin inspiring, legit the rebirth of the Onewheel. It’s finally becoming what it was always meant to be. Been going down the VESC rabbit hole (gotta give @MaddMax and @JakeLeary a shoutout) and the potential it can/will unlock is making my adrenaline spike. Love everything about this, plus VESC is further solidifying the XR platform as the GOAT in IMHO. Yes, it can be used in other platforms - but it just feels so right in the XR. I really hope TFL continues to develop XR/VESC products 🙏🏼
Acronyms aside, I have questions:
1. From my understanding, the higher the wattage the greater the amount of energy needed to power said device. So considering the massive jump from 750w to 2000w, will the Superflux drain the battery more than twice as fast?
2. Also.. will TFL be bringing back the colored varials/steez systems for the XR? Dig the raw but I need that black and gold for this VESC build that I apparently now have to do 🤷🏻♂️

Ngl the part where you can basically tail drag and get more speed is the part that really attracts me to this, would love if this was like a default so that way, it would really need to be installed manually but still definitely very appealing, but at the same time the kickback does help with safety so it's like a "pick your poison" sorta deal but with the remote that would definitely solve other things too, basically having the control to basically slow down into a stop and stuff like that basically controlling the volume of things like say: I just kept tail dragging but decided I need to actually stop like "now" and I could just brace myself for it while using said control or just easy into so I do like this 🙂👍

I am highly anticipating a new super wheel like the one Floatwheel is selling. It has a larger motor, larger battery capacity under both footpads, brighter variable lights and concave footpads. Also right to repair.

Don’t hold back on FM the OW feels vanilla right now and they need to add more flavor to it or get left behind in innovation from competitors.

I have tried the small fenders but I get so many small bits of tarmac kicked up onto the footpads its doing my head in BIG time :-( Can you recommend something for the XR to stop this? Great video BTY, thumbs up from me.

What if you put radar or something under the the front so it could sense the distance to the ground below you. Might be hard to keep it clean if it was anything optical though.
Love the video and all the recent Vesc-wheel (c’mon that’s obviously the name) content. Built a bunch of esk8s, but I’ve NEVER been more excited for a build! Just need MakersPEV to start selling little FOCer kits again…anyone know when his site will reopen?
Hopefully within the next month or so. They are in the process of moving over to a new shop, so all of their stuff is in storage currently
In the end we do need a name that doesn't contain VESC™ (owned by Benjamin Vedder) either ow looses their name by force or we get our own.

Great video! Keep them coming. Got some questions:
1. Why VESC is not used on GT boards?
2. Why there is still no replacement for FM front foot pad? Too complicated to replicate?
1. There's really no great reason to. GT has proprietary connectors that would require either salvaging from a GT controller, along with a good deal of other DIY work necessary, and you're left with a platform that has many drawbacks such as less clearance, higher unstable platform, and less aftermarket options. The XR Platform is much easier to work with, uses commonly available connectors already, and can even support the same pack size as the GT if you grab an extended battery box. The only good reason to VESC a GT is if it was already dead anyways IMO.
2. Sensors are a somewhat dangerous game to get into due to risk and liability, as the consequences for a false positive reading, or even worse a false negative, can be extremely dire. That said, I'm aware of at least two aftermarket sensors that are both working to come to market very soon, so there are options out there!

These videos are doing my head in when they spend 10 minutes reviewing components of the board before getting onto the subject at hand. I’m finding myself watching more videos on skateboarding than one wheeling because of such wasted time watching content I’ve watched a million times before.
My man, I get what you're getting at, but this specific series (Rep Your Set) is quite literally _about_ reviewing the different components of the rider's board haha. Valid opinion though if you're interested in more videos with actual riding if that's what you're getting at, just an odd video to leave that feedback lol.
So it fixed all the dangerous flaws of the One Wheel.
Again, I recommend the word Uni-board. Pronounced ū-nEE board.
Onewheel page says GT has 3hp motor, which is more than 2200W.

No range with one wheels still. I’d like to see one go 40 miles. These can’t even catch up with electric unicycles.
I’m planning on making a 80v 19s2p battery pack which has ~615 watt hours. For comparison the GT has a 63v ~525 watt hour pack. So hopefully I will get better range and torque then a GT and have all the VESC tuneability.
After I get Neuralink from Elon musk maybe I could connect to the board and it would know how to react and anticipate whatever I am about to perform.

What is the cost of assembling a similar VESC board?
A lot. Probably want to get a used pint, feel out the ride, learn to fall. Then pick out a custom build that matches how you want to ride.
Comparable to a GT with some mods cost wise.

Mods are interesting but you kinda got to be a nerd to get it just right…. Seems to me these guys so proud of all their little adjustments too lol. Most of us just want to ride with a tried and trusted device. Also, I hear a lot of these guys saying it’s not a onewheel… But come on… it’s just few internal parts that don’t change the world… if he actually gets the new motor and all the other parts play nice for as just as long and reliable as a normal onewheel, then we’ll talk… So far, premature stuff with too much tinkering, and guys with a few cool programs that think they just took down onewheel 😂
Different strokes for different folks. Some people like to cook for themselves, and some folks prefer fast food 🤷♀️

You would think that with a controller you could actually control the board. It's trying to escape the entire time he's "controlling" it. A total joke that a onewheel has a controller that is meant for "high level" users when this level of control is very basic for most all other EVs. FM is garbage with fanboy support. Don't waste your money.
I don’t know if you watched the entire video or even the section on the remote. It doesn’t make it go forward or backward, it controls the tilt angle. He’s holding it so you can see the angle change. He’s not just holding it in place to show it moving forward. Name one pev that changes the angle of tilt, no other pev does this as you are describing. You make it also sound as if this onewheel and the controller was made by onewheel by the company future motion. This is a vesc, not made by onewheel; it’s heavily modded and has little of the onewheel brand parts left to where it doesn’t act as a future motion onewheel at all. The controller is made by a third party. I think you might be confused.
