Is Rick Prime an actual Rick, or could he be a puppet? Maybe someone/something out there in the multiverse wanted the Rick Sanchez's locked away behind their Central-Finite-Curve (ie a prison of their own making) and the Rick Prime we've seen is working as their puppet/agent behind the scenes to not only build the prison and keep the inmates distracted but if necessary to REBUILD the CFC as well should a "prison break" occur.
Then again, what if puppet/agent Rick's target wasn't the Rick's but the potential Morty's (maybe even Beth's too considering Space-Mom) as well.......

Something that's never ever said in any Rick and Morty video essays is that the Rick we follow spent his entire 20s and 30s(and more) murdering other ricks and aliens, he's probably the most combat experienced Rick there is which is why he ranks so high on the evil scale.
I doubt Rick Prime motivated any other Rick the way he did to our Rick considering "Ricks don't pass on this".
He even eliminated seal team Rick with no trouble way back when he was being brainalyzed

I think our Rick subconsciously insinuated himself into the True Rick's family in the beginning as a means to "take his family." It was a "you took my wife and child, so I'm going to take yours" kind of move but Our Rick decided to live with them instead of killing them. Could be wrong considering how apathetic he was to the rest of the family though. I mean, yeah, he's latched onto Morty but he didn't think anything about Beth or Summer from that dimension.
In the pilot he almost blows that world to pieces so you may be right...

He definitely let Prime's reality get Cronenberged on purpose, hence how he was so nonchalant with letting his earth get fucked over and mutated. And it harkens back to Rick being drunk and nearly setting off a neutrino bomb in episode 1. It's almost guaranteed he could have cured them all if he even put in 10% of his effort.

It's actually genius, with the central finite curve rick could not re-set the portal travelers. I think he help create the curve to "trap" the rick he was hunting to a technically smaller multiverses. I think that prime Rick was hiding outside the curve as it is seen by simple Rick that they can go outside the curve.

Like you, I'm thinking he was outside the curve, but not for the same reason. Our Rick, which I now call ''Anti-Rick'', or ''Nega-Rick'', seems to be just as smart, but cares about his family (which is what makes him Anti-Rick). If Anti-Rick created the curve to lock in Universes where he is the smartest man and maybe Prime Rick as you said, Prime Rick might have gotten ejected from it, being just as smart, or maybe smarter than our Rick. He'd probably be able to go back in, but had no interest in doing so. Our Rick, realizing Prime Rick would be able to get out of the Curve, gave up his hunt long ago and decided to ''wait for him'', but again, realized long ago he wouldn't come back. He had a shot this time, the best he ever had, but Morty convinced him to let go, which he did rather easily, because once again, he cares.

It's weird that Rick Prime killed our Rick's Beth and Diane because he didn't want to make the portal gun but seemingly left the other versions of Rick alone, even allowing his own Beth to exist when he doesn't care about her.
Likely Rick Prime didn't kill 137s family. But won't care to reveal that until he's been defeated. The ultimate screw you. A portal dropping the bomb is Rick's only evidence. I think it was some other Rick trying to fuck with Rick Prime. Plus Ricks aren't the only one with interdimensional travel. The pilot's interdimensional customs and the time police do it too.
He seemed to be giving the secret of travel away to Ricks because he felt like it, and killed the ones who denied because he doesn't like to be told no. Ricks tend to blow up over the smallest insults. Remember how pissed Rick got with the whole save point thing?
Im guessing he's giving ricks the choice of accepting the portal gun and abandoning their families and the ones who refuse have their family killed as motivation to develop the portal gun themselves and get obsessed with him
So, if Rick Prime is killing other Rick's that refused to accept his tech, does that mean there are other Rick's that never discovered portal tech and are "stuck" in their own reality either being consumed by grief or maybe want revenge but haven't been able to travel yet?
Furthermore, if this is the case, would this not also make "C-137" rick an equivalent of rick prime for discovering portal tech on his own? I mean, portal tech is like the holy grail of achievements and other Rick's probably haven't figured it out kinda like how C-137 never figured out the cure for the Chronenburg virus
One detail you missed about Rick Prime wronging other ricks. when our Rick was trying to restore Birdperson to his old self. Ricks memory does state that he’s one of those Ricks that lives with a dead version of their daughter.

I think he wants to be juvenile forever. Not in that he's a teenager, but that he's convinced he can do whatever he wants whenever he wants it. Most ricks we have seen CAN be that way but its not all they are. Some want to be businessmen or leaders. I think whatever he did to be immortal it "locked him" in that mindset. But that's just my theory.
Being immortal would also make you very unlikely to care seeing as how everyone will die anyhow, coupled with proof of alternate infinite realities.

I can see Rick Prime exploiting Morty's disillusion and subvertiants toward Rick, only for Rick to return that piece of him who was defiant from that Aracade game.

I think Rick Prime is the one that evil Rick pointed out as being the most evil and the Rick we know as C-137 is the anomaly he referred to as "super weird". Evil Rick probably didn't know that our Rick isn't the original C-137 that's why he referred to him as the most evil thinking he was the original Rick C-137

Our Rick is the original 137. c-137 is the dimension our Ricks family died in. Morty was wrong when he called himself Morty c-137 as he's Morty Prime. The creators confirmed weird Rick and Rick Prime are the same being. Super weird/Rick Prime was the Rick in between our Rick and himself, meaning they're all just as dangerous.

The moment they left the cronenberg dimension, then you get the scene where you see "A Rick and Morty" working on something, a few turns on the screw, it blows up, killing A Rick and Morty.
Moments later, The Rick and Morty that just left the Cronenberg pops up and takes their places in that dimension and the show resumes.
Can you explain the context? Did they go from Cronenberg to > C137? Or is this a different dimension?

One thing I noticed is that Rick Prime doesn't seem to have the absolute loathing of Jerry that every other Rick seems to possess. When he greets Jerry from his dimension, he muses that he has "arced out" and his refusal to work with Jerry seems more genuinely rooted in his preference to work alone, and seems to suggest no animosity towards Jerry as a person. Taken a step further, when Jerry tries (and fails) to kill him, Rick Prime muses that it was "badass" - and he seems genuine in the compliment. I could not see C-137 (or any other Rick for that matter) ever calling Jerry a badass under any circumstance.
But what I find most interesting is that while Ricks are almost defined by their self-loathing, Rick Prime seems to be the exact opposite - from what little we've seen of the guy, he seems genuinely thrilled to be himself - so much so that he takes it personally when C-137 refuses to be like him. I also noticed, as you have, that many Ricks seem to have this mutual connection to Rick Prime that predates even the Citadel of Ricks. This one might reach crackpot territory, but I wonder if maybe RIck Prime is the source of all of the self-loathing that Ricks hold for themselves and each other; that maybe Rick Prime is the beginning of it all, and that every other Rick despises themselves simply because they all hate Rick Prime. What if Rick Prime is the Rick who discovered interdimensional travel, who began travelling the multiverse looking for Ricks, who built the Central Finite Curve, etc.?
All in all, I feel Rick Prime is going to be much more than simply another Rick, and I feel his impact will probably be greater than we realize even now.

and we know that one of the reasons rick c-137 dislikes jerry is due to him getting together with beth and rick prime not disliking jerry would make sense 'he truly did not care about beth' so he has no reason to dislike prime jerry
Like the other commenter said: you have to care to dislike someone and it's way easier to give a compliment to someone who you don't give two shits about than someone you despise for impregnating your daughter
It could also be that he hates himself so much that he tries to make every other Rick more miserable than him so he has a reason to not feel bad about himself

I really enjoy the duality of "The Rickest Rick". Our Rick says implicitly that Prime is, but really, they both are. Prime is the Rickest Rick in the sense that he's the most evil version of himself, giving in fully to his desires and lust for superiority. Our Rick is the Rickest in the sense that he's the polar opposite; He would give it all up to love his family. No other Rick would do what he tried to do. He's the most genuine and caring of the Ricks and would go to any length to avenge his loved ones. Has dedicated his entire life to it even.
It's just a matter of which Rick will come out on top as "The Rickest Rick"

Rick prime’s objective seems to be, to create a worthy adversary in Rick c137 by motivating him to be the Rickest Rick possible so he can be a challenge. Ultimately, Rick prime is probably board.
that's a LONG CON and a wide stretch if i ever seen one. prime didn't know why he was stranded, who came to his ship, why they came, ect. prime has to figure out the situation before he can act. seems to me he just does what he wants.
I feel like rick prime was the only rick that invented the portal except our rick ofcourse. Then he invited other Rick's just to mess with them because he came to realize that no one can match him except himself. You can also see on past episodes that most Rick's can't actually make the portal fluid.

The fact that Rick Prime doesnt age could be due to something affecting his secret invisible base like there was on Season 3 Episode 5 "The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy" where there was an immortality field around the resort Rick and Jerry went too.

@@santi_super_stunts2573 yeah I think this is going to be more a battle of wits than flashy fights. Morty can fight no doubt, but I think a big character moment for him would be to outsmart his original Rick. Maybe even bring evil Morty back to give our Morty some pointers that would be fun.
Orrrr since a big theme of the season might be trust, have that trust between Rick and Morty challenged by having Morty and Evil Morty work together to bring down Rick Prime. It would work considering Rick ditched Morty for fcking crows, and couldn't even answer Morty's question "did you come back to help me or because they dumped you?"
And that's gonna be the big moral dilemma for Morty. Will he be able to kill essentially his own grandfather. We've seen that yes he's absolutely able to under the right circumstances. But I'm sure the writers will pull off some way that will bring morality to the forefront. Since Morty's whole issue is he doesn't want to be like Rick.
I'm genuinely excited for the changes the show has made, and what's to come.
So many questions about prime Rick... what was he looking for from our Rick?
Second, does this mean that all the Rick's front the citadel chose to leave their families, cause they all have Beth's who were abandoned. Third, does that mean there are other vengeance Rick's after Rick prime? And does the fact Rick never met prime mean he was outside the select group of infinite universes Rick was jumping around... and "evil morty" actually facilitated events that lead to Rick being able to find prime...

He could've been giving info about portals to any Rick he could reach but our Rick probably was the only one (or one of few, considering Rick Prime could be hunted by more Ricks than C137) that didn't accept his wisdom, so he blew up his family, as he couldn't take "no" as an answer.
Seeing that Ricks have created Citadel at some point, and then re-created it, there may be something in them that makes Ricks seek some sort of alliance with each other, which makes this theory plausible.

I feel that this Rick wanted to let as many ricks know about portal technology in order to keep himself secret from forces unknown. I'm the first episode it was said that he likes to remain hidden, so why not give as many Ricks portal technology as possible to keep himself hidden. I don't think his message was for ricks at all, it could literally be for anyone who found him. I don't think he's immortal either since the series does a good job at denouncing anything supernatural. I think his tech is very far ahead of what we've seen so far.

I actually really like the idea that to someone who isn’t invested in what Rick prime is doing, he’s just “super weird” like our Rick knows how evil this guy is but to your average Rick going through his life all they know is a: he gos universe hopping handing out portal tech for no known reason, and b: if you where to try to track him down it becomes clear that he’s in multiple places at once. I can totally see evil Rick doing research on all the different ricks, coming across Rick prime in some database somewhere, and responding with a “huh that’s super weird” before moving on.
We never actually saw him open up a ports and drop the bomb that killed our Rick’s Beth and Diane from the other side. For all we know someone framed him knowing that our Rick would do whatever it takes to go after him.

I just realized that if our Rick is the only Rick we know of who’s Beth and Diane died at the hands of Rick prime, does that mean that Diane is still alive across multiple realities? If so, where is she, and how or why have we not seen her? Did Rick prime cement his role as the Rickest Rick by killing or mind controlling all the Dianes in every other universe? Cuz Beth obviously had a mother to raise her, put her through school to meet Jerry, and experience the trauma of Rick disappearing for 20 years. So what happened to the Dianes after Rick leaves? Did I miss something?

Since Evil Morty is gone according to the ranking of Evil “Rick”, Prime is the Rick who is eviler than 137. Knowing C137’s body count, it’s actually pretty impressive to imagine what the hell this guy has done.
Well if we believe the theory that he murdered countless beths and dianes that would def make him more evil than c137 since he mostly killed versions of himself and probably not as many of his families
I just realized, Rick saying all this time that he was trapped in a failed marriage and that he left Beth was, actually him trying to posse as Prime Rick, he had to investigate his entire life before he traveled universes, Imagine how heartbroken he must have felt when he found out he left Diane and lead Beth to a psychopath path by creating her all the things she wanted just to keep her away, Imagine what will happen when Beth finds out, she now is over Rick, if Prime comes back and tells our current Beth the truth (which, is almost guaranteed it will happen) how would she feel?
I think this season will be great. There will be a small twist at the end, something like: 'dude I didn't kill your family, it was the other ricks that Track me down to your dimensions and decided to throw a bomb to see if it works, but I was already gone' sort of thing.
But I like to theorize more over memory Rick. The guy from the previous season that got stucked on rick head.
It's my theory that Rick C-137 will die and will be replaced by memory Rick. Which is in fact, a better version of Rick, it's a memory of Rick when birdperson saw him as an heroic, sarcastic and highly intelligent man. Probably the best memory he has of him. So, I think Rick will accept he's still haunted by the past and reject an offer of salvation by Morty. Staying on a dying ship or chasing prime Rick and memory Rick will rescue Morty and continue their adventures together.
We never saw WHO threw the bomb it could have been anybody but rick saw rick prime have a gun with portal fluid in it so he assumed it was him he might not have done the bomb directly it could have been a vengeful rick looking for vengeance against rick prime
Very likely theory. The time police and interdimensional customs can also diension portal hop, so likely many others can too. What makes Rick so powerful is in enough time he can invent anything.
Prime rick will be a great villain and he's ready to show what he can do in season 6 of rick and morty!

the only intentional outcome of these events would be his refusal to completely fix portal travel once he realized prime was stranded. but prime could easily reset portal travel on his own once he figured out why he was in his own reality.

I think Prime Rick's motivation is simply pure ego.
'Prime Rick' only respects other Ricks, so he does whatever he can to be the most important Rick.
He handed portal technology away to prove he was superior to other Ricks by discovering it first.
And when C-137 didn't care, Prime killed C-137's family because if Prime can't be held in awe, he's fine being hated.
In summary: Prime is obsessed with being the most infamous Rick.
He doesn't want to kill any Ricks, he wants them all to be obsessed with him. That's why he runs instead of kills. That's why he taunts other Ricks. He needs to live Rent Free in other Rick's heads.

One plot hole example is when Rick (C-137) is explaining to Beth how he made that dream world for her because she was such a sociopath. He wouldn't know that - C-137s Beth was killed as a toddler by Rick Prime and our Rick didn't return to a family until like 25 years later when he decided to go to Rick Primes universe to an Adult Beth as a sort of multiversal stake out. He never was around through Beths childhood and thus would've known nothing about making a playground universe for her.
That ignores that he may have been planning on/already made one for his Beth before she died. She was a scary kid, and probably was a scary toddler as well.
He's also seen plenty of other Beths and Ricks out there to get the gist. Keep in mind he was also playing at being her Rick and only in a recent episode did she find out her Morty and Rick were actually dead in the backyard.

My explanation would be that the portal index was linked to the "travelers" brain waves or consciousness so each one would be unique. That way no matter what body you are in you would still be reset to your individual reality.
Same reason allvthe cyber enhancements went with the body when they were added on and not a part of the original travelers body.

They seem to be by far the 2 most capable Ricks in terms of destruction, although I think those "bosses" in the Citadel who were able to force Ricks into menial jobs are super capable too, in a SPEECH 100 kind of way. Yeah but since our rick took the mantle everyone just refers our Rick as c137 and every crime he has done its adjudicated to C137. They basically did a switcharoo, our Rick was the anomaly since he didnt take the deal with prime rick, but C137 just got up and left while the anomaly Rick took his place. Hence becoming the anomaly by not having a universe assigned.
Here’s my take, Rick prime was the first Rick to create the portal gun because of his “godcomplex”. He then equipped ricks with the portal gun in order to mobilize them to create the central finite curve. Our Rick who is the rickest Rick is more powerful than Rick prime, however he didn’t have the same lust for power and was at peace with his family. Rick prime knew rick was naturally more gifted and decided to take away what our rick loved the most, his family. There could be 2 motivations for this. For one, it could simply be to create the self loathing rick has which sparked a weakness in him (something rick prime could have done to every rick). Or 2 it was to end ricks sense of being happy where he was in life (he wasn’t as powerful in that state) and trigger rick to reach his full intellectual power since there may be an even greater power out in the universe him and prime need to defeat together, or that only the rickest rick has the capability to beat. Hence why Rick prime asked Jerry if he has seen rick and morty since now that rick reset him to his home dimension he’s “ready”.
I really want Mr Nimbus to come back maybe shed some more light on this. Plus Mr Nimbus is the best character.

I think c137 and prime are two Rick's of the same coin and every other variant stretches from them alone. Prime doest care at all about family, no ties no relationships or nothing while c137 on the other hand is "passionate" and truly cared about his family, look at the lengths he went to avenge his wife.

He clearly has a personal immortality field like the whirly dirly back in the Rick and Jerry episode.
Just like I disproved Mattpatt's theory of beth not being a clone and infact she is due to the time it took to get back to the house was too quick to make a clone made no sense since she is in fact used to his crazy Sci-Fi and they could've easily used a portal to move the car home, Rick Prime just uses a field like the wirly dirly. Look how C-137 healed then with the pike in his chest. Looks the same way y'know without some kind of grid.
THANK YOU. Someone else who gets the lore - thats EXACTLY how he survived. The whirly-dirly's immortality field. Here's some food for thought; C-137 didnt make the immortality field. Prime rick did. The rick the "rebellion" wanted to kill wasnt c-137. It was Prime. Which makes total sense. Why didnt rick know you could die on the whirly-dirly? Why did jerry need to tell him about that one section of track without the field to take care of the assassin? Cause c-137 never built it. Prime did. And they mistook c-137 for prime, and roped jerry in. unaware that it's a different rick from another dimension. In fact - i think Risotto (the guy who roped jerry into the assassination plot) realized his mistake after the mind meld. But c-137 didnt want him giving up that information to jerry (that he was a different rick - beth and the fam didnt know that yet - only one who did was summer.) So he killed him. Remember, Rick is hunting prime, in ANY way, shape, or form - and was looking for ANY information he could get. Prolly heard about the resort - realized there was tech there that was WAY too advanced for any of the ricks he knows, so he went to investigate. We even find out he's been there multiple times. And while ricks in the bar when they first show up, i cant help but notice he's listening to EVERYONES conversations - looking for information. In fact - i find it VERY telling that rick primes "base" they stumbled into seems to look like the tech FROM the whirly-dirly ep. Just some food for thought.

People tend to associate Rick with the Nihilism implied by scientific materialism, but a short philosophical leap into Buddhism yields interesting results. For instance, a bodhisattva is an infinitely reincarnating being who is free of attachment and whose sole purpose is the liberation of other beings, just like Rick. If you consider that Rick isn’t technically embodied but some irl R&M fans seem to think they’re enlightened after watching, it could be argued that Rick is either a Buddha himself and capable of emanation or the emanation of one that already exists. And in that case, there is a certain profundity in watching a Buddha suffer. Portal travel could easily be a metaphor for meditation practice as well and Morty (and more recently Summer) representing the disciplic succession, Jerry the average un-enlightened person, and Beth the internal struggle between the monastic and householder lifestyles

I defo feel like you guys hit it kinda spot on when u said that Rick prime will be the new arch nemesis & that Evil Morty has ( at least for this episode & I would say this season!) left the Multiverse. Leaving our Rick & Morty portal-less. However the way that the writers have dealt with this so far is excellent. Imagine the next portal gun can shoot 3 different ones. Green for dimensions with a god-Rick, Gold/Yellow for those without a god-Rick, and blue for spacial teleportation

There's no need for differentiations. Green portal guns can make portals to places in the same universe, so it makes sense that every portal gun can make portals under parameters at or below their original programming, but not above them. Also, purple magic portals exist.

- Before Rick Prime kills Jerry he also said that "I really don't team up ANYMORE" implying that he used to
In Rick memory we never actually saw Rick Prime dropping that bomb, we just assume that it was him. I think there is still a possibility that the bomb was dropped by someone else, I think it would make an interesting plot to see C-137 spend his entire life hunting Rick Prime but when he found him he learns the truth that it was not him who directly kill his wife and daughter

Hey someone else has noticed this was 1 big loop they didn't close in s6e1. Unless they come back to at a later date. I prefer the idea that Rick Prime was trying to destroy Rick's research after Rick turned him down so Rick would have to team up with Rick Prime or not be able to portal travel, and Beth and Diane just happened to be in the garage. They were inconsequential to Rick Prime who had already abandoned his family.
