This is the kind of review I'm talking about. You measured and weighed the briquettes, used a timer, a thermometer.
This is a good scientific overview of these 2 kinds of briquettes . Thanks for your hard work on this video!

thank you for taking the time to do this, I never considered pro vs orig...but I use more lump now, but use orig to start my lump, and might use orig on the outline for longer burns in my WSM. Again, good vid, appreciate it. thanks! From Montreal, Cdn!

Yes indeed - this review is spot on. I bought 2 bags of the Professional from Costco and was not impressed. Used them on my WSM cooking a brisket and had to add coals twice because the briquettes burned out too quickly. Definitely good if you are in a hurry and want to cook up some burgers, hotdogs, steaks etc but stick to the original for smoking/longer cooks.

Jo, i agree 100% with you, Both have a place in the BBQ cooking space, I use Kingsford Original in my WSM and it last for hours, I will keep some Professional around as well for the fast cooks. Thanks for watching.

I picked up the Professional from Costco. I don’t like it. It gets way hotter, way quicker, and burns out way sooner. It would be good for just a few burgers and dogs, but otherwise I will stick to regular ol’ Kingsford. It’s more stable and predictable.

very good comparison James! I get similiar results with burn time. the professional feels like it burns faster. in long smokes you can tell because you have to refill sooner with professional. I stopped using regular kingsford a while back because I wasn't getting good results...I think they might have changed up how they made it. Now I just use the professional since it's available at costco and do notice it burns cleaner.

    • @BackyardSmoke614

I used professional one time. I actually switched over to lump in my WSM about 3 or 4 months ago. I just saw a video where a guy got a longer burn on his Green Egg with B&B Oak Lump as compared with Kingsford original. I think the B&B briquettes were a similar time. I might compare the B&B Char Logs. For some reason mine never seems to be at the point where the flames have died out and it's just ashing over in either Kingsford. I might have to start checking mine at shorter intervals. I was watching some video and a guy said his wife hates when he talks about the drop
