Kudos to you ; for your sincere but rather objective consensus for the food you tried and share. Your videos are done in a relaxing manner and so down to earth. Well done, sir. Keep it up. Be yourself. What you are doing is just fine.
Thank you for the encouraging words! I sometimes do get anxiety making these videos... only because I have no script and just keep chatting hahaha. But I think this keeps the video more honest.
Thank you for sharing. May I know, if people like me from outstation, (KL) when would be best (day and time) to visit the store for my next food trip to Penang? The store only open for breakfast? How's the crowd? The video doesn't seem to show a big crowd queueing up like some of the famous food stores. Is it like that most of the time? Thank you
Thanks for watching my videos! Yao Sisters are open from 7am-12pm everyday except Wednesday and Thursday, so 5 days a week. Over the weekend it gets a lot more busy, so the best time to try would be a weekday for breakfast. Sometimes there are less people, it isn't a super long wait don't worry! I am usually more concerned about parking, if you can find parking along Macalister Lane then great, if not it is a bit of a walk if you can find parking along the next road which is Lorong Kinta.
Same here, eateries I've recorded that I don't really fancy will not get into the video editor la hahaha. There's quite a few i would say. Most of the viseos that didn't make the cut were eateries in klang valley. I've only tried char kuey kak once since it's not easy to find halal ones in penang. The local famous ones that I know is near my place in jelutong. Opened at Jelutong morning market, it was said they sell CKK for over 6 decades. Also in the evening in jelutong there's a pushcart stall selling CKK across the street from hussain mee goreng arang where a lot of people go buy.
I saw one which says "Since 1957" and "No Pork" I wonder if this is the one you mentioned. Can go and try there too. Almost all CKK stalls are in pushcarts or the modern food trucks.
@@pishedbloke yes that's the one, open in the evening. I've always wanted to try that one since it says no pork but I still have my reservation about it. The jelutong morning market CKK is by uncle loo. Seems both the CKK stalls have been in business since the 1950s
This Char Koay Kak looks delicious and yummy. Made from rice which made the taste good. Talking about Penang and Singapore food. There are not the same and definitely Penang with all the famous foods here, hard to find it even tho someone try to copy it. It just taste different. Singapore have its own taste. Since you like eat a lots, your clothes have to change because body expanding 😂 😅
Thanks for sharing bro, looks to me like a hybrid of Singapore chai tow kuay and char kway teow … but definitely different and nothing like this here … haha
Nice bro. Got suggestion, can you try Cahaya Bulan Nasi Goreng Ayam located at Esplanade Padang Kota same row with Mee Goreng Sotong Hameed. I didn't eat it for many many years already, not sure it's still there but it's one of the good Malay Nasi Goreng that I ever have.
In S’pore the white one is called chai tao kuey. The black one is called Orr char kuey just the flour, there’s no radish. and it’s fried without bean sprout. Not many people know, old people will know. I learned it from the hawker in my younger days.
Oh that's interesting! I guess it is just regional variations of dishes brought over from China. There are a lot of Teochew people here in Penang, but we don't have SG Teochew noodles. I can't find fresh mee pok in the markets here.
What abt the fresh mee pok from chilled section of the supermarket? They are just as good. I don’t get mine from wet market. Since I’m coming over next month, if it’s ok with you, I can get you a several packs.. then you can make your own bak chor mee pok. ☺️
@@gracechew4554 OMG you are so gracious.... are you sure it is not a bother? I actually bought the flat egg noodles (wanton mee style but shape like mee pok) to cook bak chor mee. Hahahaha
@@gracechew4554 hahaha wow so efficient! But I will pay for it, OK? You can email me at chinaloysius@gmail.com and we will take it from there, thank you so much again 😍

No, I usually eat breakfast out, especially on weekends because of the kids' schedules. I cook most of the time for dinner and lunch. It is definitely cheaper to cook at home but it requires some discipline.
Hehehe... food is so subjective. My eldest daughter eats char koay teow but not char koay kak, I don't know why. I think hard to give stars lah, but the videos I publish usually are the places I would go back again to eat.

SG carrot cake is actually has no carrot. It is actually rice cake like the one in Penang. In china teochew, it is called 粿角. But, they add veg into it. U can google to verify. Penang rice cake is closer to one in Teochew. Too much has said about how good penang street food are, I visited quite a few and disappointed, I share your feeling.

The Char Koay Teow previously owned by a couple, uncle and aunty. It was good at that time. I saw the young guy is the cook now. Will try it out.
Ya... and the Hokkien mee stall was closed also, not sure if they are still selling.
