In NG(I believe it was)the BP Black Knight with a sword deals 1000+ damage with 350+ physical defence...any BP Black Knight other than the sword one will kill you in one hit, regardless of your armour and hp...the BP ones with the Halberd/Greataxe/Greatsword are infamous for killing max slvl players in one hit...
Imagine the poor souls who entered the Painted World on release and found it was permanently Gravelorded to the point where even the "stand in place for 10 minutes" trick wouldn't work. Those guys left that painting as badasses or discovered the bridge glitches by necessity. Thank goodness a patch fixed that.

Even trying to escape from them is difficult. In order to free your world of red phantoms, you need to search a black sign in the ground, that sign will let you invade the world of the player that infected you, If you kill the player, your world will be normal again. Theres a particular bug where the conection between the infected and the gravelord player fails, if this happens, the infected players will have red phantoms in all of his areas probably forever, this happened to Afro at the final of this video I searched and found that you need to be infected from other gravelord and then the victim will kill him. This makes all the red phantoms dissapear but i'm not sure

I know how this feels, for some reason my main character's Anor Londo is perma gravelorded in NG+, so I'm glad to have Dark Souls 2 at the moment to make the scathing burn of it subside.
No, that's a rare covenant that few people use, it's hard to know how to get to and there's few purpose of doing so except to get hatemail and make people mad. The Gravelord Servants I think, serve the wills of Nito, that's why it's the "mr. Bones Ride" You turn another player's world (that must be in NG+ at least) in a fucking hell of a mess with a bunch of Black Phantoms of mobs controlled by basic AI. But they do double the damage, have double the health or more, spawn in weird locations and there's always a BUNCH of them in late game areas. And there's always a black phantom of that ONE strongass unique mob of the area. like the butcher in The Depths. To get rid of it, either you "cheat" it off, disconnect and wait for a while or you find where the hell the gravelord put his grey soulsign and invade the gravelord's world as a spirit of vengeance.
It's a terrible time. If you're just playing with that new build you are trying out and then you get to the fucking tomb of giants with half a dozen BP of those giant skeletons and wheels. Not even the dead know peace from this evil. Watch the video: when I'm gravelordin'

I've never faced a gravelord enemy. The first time I knew of them was during the fight against Ornestein and Smough, then when I was literally standing in the Undead Parish because the messege appeared.

Bassling96 No, it didn't. I got gravelorded in Oolacile Township, it nearly halted my NG+7 playthrough. I went offline, waited, phantoms remained. I went online, tried to get through many times, phantoms remained. Believe me, you don't want to get gravelorded in Oolacile. It's a nightmare.

It has other ways to end. 1- If the gravelord servant Dies/Quits they go away. 2- If you disconnect, a timer (invisible BTW) will start and after the ten minutes it's counting a message appears "Disasters are gone..." And you're safe! If none of those work, then you are a really unlucky person, becauser that can be a glitch, other people have suffered from that... Poor Markus... :c
