From description: "The narration during the horse racing it's one of the most hilarious moments I've ever experienced in front of a TV set." Amen to that! =)
Fantastic comedy, really underrated I feel, mainly because it was mostly toilet humour but, IMO done very well with great timing and gags. I watched it from age 10-11 years old and know every line from every episode even now. The most of great comedy and nostalgia never fails to cheer me when I’m feeling low. As Rik said: Love is the answer!
I think the scene in the bookies is noteable for being the only sequence in Bottom without Rik Mayall. Eddie, Spudgun, Harry the Bastard, all of them are brilliant, but the energy goes up a level again when Mayall is back on screen in the pub.
This is one of my personal fav episodes. The first two times I watched it I was so drunk I didn't even remember this episode existed but after the third time I realized it's a bloody great one :D
This is an excellent episode but probably one of my least favourites along with "Break". The Cheif Inspector Grobbelaar bit at then end when they mug him, shame you couldnt put that up.
Someone explain the bit where rik says "well why don't you live in the Soviet Union then" and spudgun says "cause it doesnt exist" . I mean wtf was that about? Another bloody pommy injoke about a few more seagulls and farmers and margaret thatcher referenced by Mrs potato earlier? I just don't get that joke. I don't think anyone else here does either!!! Whilst bottom was good, there was a lot of bs in-jokes but thank god not as much bs as the young ones pommy in jokes.
By the time this episode aired, the Soviet Union had broken up, so it didn't exist anymore. Mrs. Potato was making a reference to the Falkland's War of 1982.
"7 pence on Sad Ken??" "Yeah, that was all Harry the Bastard, would give me for my house!" 🤣🤣🤣👍💯
"How much for this Caaaaaalved wooden leg" 🤣🤣🤣 Ade Edmondsons hidden vocal classics
Bottom never fails to cheer me up and make me laugh. I wish I had had the chance to tell Rik Mayall that.
Tell Adrian then ;)

I am the same
I suffer with depression and this makes me laugh so much
I remember a drunken Irish man came in and told everyone to back this horse at 25/1. Rider fell at the first hurdle. This scene is too true 🤣🤣
One of the funniest shows ever. Fantastic comedy timing between Rik and Ade.
