I picked and tried the Meadow Waxcap for the first time yesterday - yes, very nice. An interesting texture, sort of soft but chewy.

Thanks for vid and education. There are still three varieties growing on the football field here in Embo, N Scotland in mid-November. (!) Splendid, Yellow and Meadow.

I found blackening waxcap today. It is beautiful and by far the shiniest I have found so far ☺

Mmmm, a lovely find of meadow wax caps there marlow. I love those too, we get the snowy and blackening wax caps as well up on our local downs. Trouble is, loads of dog walkers and dogs doo, everywhere, which renders picking a bit dicey, great vid again marlow, always look forward to and enjoy them. Thank you.

Hi Marlow. Grass fed butter is not unhealthy bud. Saturated fats are not bad for you, quite the opposite in fact. It’s the various vegetable or seed oils that are really really unhealthy healthy, wouldn’t catch me downwind of them. Providing you’re eating a low carb keto diet, with no refined carbs ultra processsed food, sugar, or veg oils, butter is fine. I’ve been low carb now for seven and a half years, I eat loads of butter, lard, beef dripping. It’s the carbs sugars and oils that do the damage. Some research for you to check. Dr, Paul mason, Dr Eric west man, Dr Nina teicholz, prof Tim Noakes, Dr David Diamond. My own Dr even confirmed this. Seriously, do some research. Thank you Marlow for vid.

That's good to know +Marlow Renton. A few of the resources in my library list some of the waxcaps as poisonous, so I'll have to give the edibles a try! It was nice to see the episode on the Blewits advocating Clitocybe nebularis as a possible edible as a lot of the books say not to bother. We eat them every year and I think they are lovely and crunchy!

+Steve Osborne Hi Steve. The Clouded Agarics do make some people sick, but I'm one of the lucky ones and like you I think they are great :) As for toxic wax caps, the pink meadow wax cap I show in the video is listed as toxic in some places but edible in others but it's too rare to pick anyway. Which others do you have listed as toxic so I can investigate?

Many of the wax caps are. The meadow and snowy wax caps are still classed as common though.

NIce youtube, thanks, but butter isn't unhealthy; there's new research out about healthy fats and dairy is one of them.

Grass fed butter is fantastic but most butter is made from grain few cows so not good for you unless you know the grain feed is organic.
