    Oh my goodness what a HUGE difference!! I’m about to attempt my first steam block of a round blanket and I’m feeling so much more confident! Thank you 🙏!

    A lot of crocheters say "You never need to block" but I disagree. I've had to block, though not often. Ty Mikey! ❤

    • @playhooky
      @playhooky ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Please hear me say this as politely as possible: it is ridiculous to say you 'never need to block crochet'! There are many crochet items that it won't really make much difference at all if you block them, but it depends on the stitch pattern & the type of item. Take filet crochet & all doilies for example; must be blocked - most people even prefer to starch them a bit. Also think of a lacy stitch on a shawl or any item; wet or steam blocking it will make the stitch pattern open up & really highlight the stitch pattern making it much more visible!!! And finally any garment really must be blocked - also you need to block you gauge swatch before you start making the garment - by doing a gauge swatch & blocking it, you get a much better chance of the item fitting correctly!

    Thank you for showing us how to steam block. I think it will be especially helpful when trying to keep the corners of a blanket/afghan from curling up. 👍

    I have used my steamer frequently for fringe on garments, wall hangings and shawls. I just love the way things look afterward. This is a great tip!

    Was getting ready to toss my acrylic afghan in the washer and then pin it out on my blocking tiles, but wanted to check TH-cam first. This is fantastic, and I’m hoping it will work for my hexagon blocks project because I didn’t steam each block as I made it. Fingers crossed!

    I use a steam iron on a trivet , keeps the iron from getting too close .
    I am a quick steam and tug into place gal , no pinning either .
    One of these days I will get a proper steamer .

    I've noticed a huge difference between centre pull and outside start of different yarns. It's about knowing how it was originally spun, then balled up Another big reason to do a tension practice piece.

    Hi Mikey! Do I need to Block my Granny Squares for the Summer Tank Top that I'm currently making? I'm using Cotton and Bamboo yarns like , Lion Brand Coboo and 24/7 Cotton? And is it Best to Block the Top after I Crochet the Squares together or before? Your Advice is Greatly Appreciated! Thank You Mikey!❤

    2 questions. 1. What steamer is that? Not happy with the one I have. 2. Does blocking need to be done asap or can you wait days, weeks, months, before you block a finished project?
