I thought the first suite was wonderful: if anything, this is even better! "Rendezvous" has a beautiful melody perfectly performed here. "Fortune-Telling"/ "Round Dance" moves effortlessly from sprightliness to grace. Gliere's orchestration charms throughout....

Reinhold Glière has plenty of great compositions on his account, I'm positively surprised. This one, however, sounds a bit too pompous too my ears, as if Soviet influences were too strong here.
