Ancient chisel, mining armor, violent modifier on everything, cake, a mining potion, and a light bone pickaxe is a good way to (almost) insta mine in prehardmode
violent only affects melee weapon speed, it doesn't affect mining

I wonder what other pickaxes can make it to max speed given the new perma buff from item obtained from shimmer. (Also other things such as mining armor). It’s something I wonder about
Any 200%+ pickaxe can get there with just chisel and mining armor, but I got really close with Palladium Pickaxe using Cake, Mining Potion and Ambrosia
I miss the glitch where if you stood on a pillar 1 block wide you would fall faster that gravity

Celebration + Mini Nuke II will always be the best way to mine
The fastest way to make a big hellevator is with the celebration mk2 dropped by the Moon Lord and mini nuke II rockets. It makes a bigger hole, you don't need any mining gear since you are just shooting and you destroy everything under you much faster than you reach it. In my opinion, this is the winner if you just want to blast everything away while getting the materials.
The only problem with this method is that it can't destroy hardmode ores.
The actual best digging tool is still the Celebration
mk2 with mini nukes II
You forgot about having the queen slime mount to make you fall faster which then means you can reach those extra blocks

0:45 if you turn off frame skip in multiplayer and you and your friend don’t have matching framerates it can crash the game. A friend of mine was using zenith at 60 fps and my computer would crash when on 144+ fps. This also can happen with the starlight.
When this particular crash occurs, does your game just close or does an error window pop up after? If there's an error window, what does it say?
@@RawtheRawest there is a window that pops up. I am not sure exactly what it says but it’s something like “XNA Framework Reach profile requires TextureAddressMode to be Clamp when using texture sizes that are not powers of two.”
@@RawtheRawest YES! Always during boss fights and invasions, I could not figure out how to fix it for days until I realized it was just frame skip
@@NoahJonesVlogs The game looks slow, choppy and interlaced on my 240hz monitor with frameskip on which is why I ended up turning it off.

The ancient chisel and the mining armour set helps too
but there's a cap so it wont really
@@momoavatar4960 it can help you hit the cap without wasting a precious mining potion, or let you hit the cap with an inferior pickaxe
Also eating, which you should regularly do, even if just the cheap foods like bunny stew, for the speed buff alone.
@@korayacar1444 true abt the inferior pickaxe thing, but you get mining potions from like every crate you can possibly get from fishing and they're pretty easy to make regardless so idk if i'd say they're precious

what if you equipped the slime mount to make gravity higher?
Does not work, because when you dig a block your speed is set back to zero and you can't accelerate

@@yoavraman8919 I have no idea about the cheat engine, but then it wouldn't really be achievable by normal means so I wouldn't count it. And I don't think that featherfall potion would do anything
another thing is that all tools except one (or two if counting the drill containment unit) dig in 1 block at a time
**now if only we had a hallowed upgrade to the gravediggers shovel or something, allowing it to dig up to t3 hardmode ore including it, in a 3x3 if not a 5x5**

You can, you just need more buffs.
If you want to dig faster than gravity can allow a typical character, there's always the slime/queen slime Mount. Falls significantly faster than base character. Only issue is you're taller so digging sideways is less practical and you can't fall through liquid
The pogo stick mount still has the height issue, but it falls just as fast and falls through liquids
Personally I like using DCU because it's just fast and super controllable, also it auto hammers some blocks when I want to dig out things like a pond. It being able to mine walls now also makes it MUCH better than most other mining options when it comes to fully clearing out areas. People will say Celebration MK II is better, but it's only really comparable in Journey Mode. If you're playing any other mode, you have to take into account the cost of the rockets.
The best option, the Mini Nuke II, requires Rocket IV and Shroomite Bars. Rocket IVs are only available during a Solar Eclipse and cost 5 silver each, making one craft of Mini Nuke IIs cost 5 Gold. You also need a Shroomite Bar per craft, which are just really annoying to get thanks to Chlorophyte being a pain to farm.
Yes, the DCU has a MUCH higher initial cost with the 40 Chlorophyte, Shroomite, and Luminite Bars, but you only need to craft it once, whereas you'll constantly need to be crafting rockets. Again, the DCU also just has MUCH more control than the Celebration MK II, so that's why in my opinion, it's just better.
40 chloro and 40 shroomite would get u 8000 nukes, that's quite a lot
@@FlameG That's true, but you can probably go through them within a reasonably short amount of time, and there's still the accuracy problem. I prefer to just get DCU and call it a day.
The auto-hammering ability makes the DCU automatically win no matter what in my eyes.
I really wish smart cursor digging auto-hammered, like, with an accessory or something idk. I wish it wasn't exclusive to the DCU because I love how much nicer mole tunnels look when they're made with that thing lol

Mining is normally extremely tedious but when you are mining at Max speed it's actually super fun
Fun fact... Titanium pickaxe, mining armour, slice of cake, and chisel is enough to feel like the shroomite digging claws

I know of another TH-camr which accomplished the max mining speed with the bone pickaxe and many mining speed Buffs they got very close to the Max mining speed even in Pre hard mode

With a reasonable set of buffs (hypothetically: full mining armor, mining potion, plenty satisfied, ancient chisel) what is the lowest tier pickaxe that you can reach max mining speed with?

@@shalvei_ Yeah, I left out Slice of Cake since it only lasts 2 minutes, the highest tier food buff since it's kind of obnoxious to farm lots of them, and also Celestial Shell since it is end-game and not really makes sense to add into a discussion about lower-tier pickaxes.
There's theoretically a combination of buffs that will reach max mining speed for lots of different pickaxes, and it's probably useful to know the thresholds for certain tiers so you can know what buffs you can skimp on.
You mentioned too many buffs.
Mining speed buffs cap at 70%
Hand of Creation, Mining Potion and Slife of Cake already reaches that.
Also the first pickaxe that can reach 60bps with 70% buffs + a light reforge is the Titanium Pickaxe (yes, only the titanium one, not its counterpart)
I recently completely destroyed a world and I've found the best way is to divide the terrain in large segments around 3 screens wide and 4 screens tall and go down through sections on a hovering mount with celebration mk II with mini nuke II + ammo box buff + ammo reservation potion and then sweep back up with the DCU for the remaining blocks, hardmode ores and chests. Took me just over 20k mini nukes and around a week of playing on and off.
I'm glad the drill mount is still the best otherwise why would it be used
how do you uncap terraria's framerate? my 144 HZ monitor is kinda going to waste here

using the extendo grip giving the digging claw greater reach helps it mine a lot faster too
One can only make Proper Hellavators with a Sluggish Copper Pickaxe. Not because it goes to the underworld, no, because it's hella painful to do so, and that's why it's the only proper way to do it.

funfact:even with this speed the max blocks he can go is 30per second so even at max speed it will take about 50s to reach the underworld even with the fastest mining speed

Having maxed out mining speed made the game at least 40% more enjoyable for me.
In the labor of love update if you put any food item in the shimmer you get ambrosia witch permatley increase mining speed

What about falling with the portal gun and falling faster, resulting in more speed so when you switch to the claw you get to the bottom faster
Breaking blocks resets acceleration, so although the game would recognize you falling, you won't accelerate

I've found that aside from reforges, mining armor and food already unfortunately maxes you out if you get the ambrosia. Kinda disappointing...
I hate Frame Skip, mostly because of how when you turn it off, titles of chests continuously flicker if your monitor’s refresh rate is too high. It’s genuinely annoying.
Play on FTW to mine faster and have bigger ore veins.
Of course late game your one hitting all blocks anyways, but its the thiught that counts.

The slowest one is technically a Sluggish Tungsten pickaxe with 1 block mined per 23 ticks.
Meaning it mines around 2.6 times per second
