Once again, another incredible video.... I played with these cars beginning back in '68...your videos are a gift to the Hot Wheels community and have re-ignited my interest in Hot Wheels all these years later, thank you.
Awesome video! I have to get the Tune up Tower! That alignment center is awesome! This video makes me want to restore a redline. Thanks again, great stuff.
Due to your great video and how too we have been able to tune up several of my 68 Childhood Hot Wheels . Now they can race thru our vintage Super chargers and beat most of the newer cars . Like you say still fast and still Fun!Thanks..
I found an original supercharger and counter at my local goodwill. I brought it home and to my amazement it worked so I just went on eBay and got the battery cover it was missing for 5 bucks after a 10 dollar coupon. Then I got the entire rest of the original set, all the track, other supercharger, and 2 other counters for 71 bucks and 2 1968 cars. For about 80 dollars invested I am super happy.
Awesome video Smackeral. Your videos are like no other hot wheels videos on the tube. Unique, informative and fun. Merry Christmas from Ontario Canada!
Yep, I just watched a grown man play with toy cars for 20 minutes! :D It was delightful! :) Never knew the old red line Hot Wheels had such crazy complex suspension and axles! I take it the later models just have a straight axle going across? I had no idea that this tune-up wrench existed. It would have been wonderful to have one of these things when I was a kid. Why did they stop making it?! Bent axles was a common problem with Hot Wheels cars. Don't know if it would work on the 80s and 90s cars, though. Still have my collection though so it could be worth a shot.
Amazing stuff, wtffor mentioned your site on his channel and so I swung by and I'm glad I did, I always knew the wheels came off, but I wasnt sure and I had never seen a wrench. thanks.
I have a 1967 gold Redline Custom Corvette up on Lego bricks since the 1970's because it has the wheels missing. Nice to now know that somebody makes pattern replacement wheels for Hot Wheels Redlines. My very first Hot Wheel car was a purple Deora with the yellow and orange surf boards in 1967 when I was 5. Sadly it was lost in a house move in 1982.
Aw man, hope you get a new deora. my first hot wheels were a lot of 20-40 cars from the 70’s-90’s when i was 2. I only have a few of those cars left because i either broke them, lost them, or played with them in dog poop. 😭
Driver of the Vette " AHHHH A Giant hand!" lol Cool man you make me feel like a kid again. I found out what I was talking about was called a booster set. But I take it you could only use them on the 2 lane tracks not the fat track. Am I wrong? FYI Still love the good old drag race set.Subscribed I love it! Play Draggin the line or My Bellamy
I really really enjoyed this video. I love the way you actually play with the cars and I learned something I didn't know about old red lines. A++++ video. I appreciate your knowledge and the authentic tracks and cars. I am just curious though. Do you only make one video a month? Your video's are some of the funnest and best I've seen on hot wheels.. Anyway Merry Christmas and thanks for a great video.
First off , Happy Christmas to all here. Second, COOL VIDEO and GREAT MUSIC! This video has a pile of good info on repairing these old babies. Could you please provide links to the places where one might obtain the items you used to repair this car. Also, what size hook is the one you are using?
You'll find Brightvision on eBay and Amazon.com and www.brightvisionwheels.com. The Redlineshop.com is at www.redlineshop.com The crotchet hook is made by Boye. The size is quite small and might be 9.
All the original redlines (Hong Kong and US) have thin axles that can be straightened with a tune up wrench. The wrench fits on the exposed axle between the tire and the chassis. For badly bent axles it can take a good deal of time to get them straight again.
I am waiting for the Hot Curves Race Action Set from eBay. It will be coming with several other pieces but no cars. The pictures showed one white wall and two red jump pieces. I noticed you used the jump pieces for taking off and landing but I remember them being on one end of the track back then. Although, perhaps I'm mistaken in this detail. I don't think the set I purchased will be coming with a set of instructions. I remember playing with a Hot Wheels set around 1968 or 1969. I have purchased several 1968 cars from eBay. I will need to obtain a wrench for some of them. I had never heard of the Tune Up Tower, that looks really cool!
The loop holder is made from wood. It consists of a base and four brackets. I cut them out with a jigsaw. Then one screw in each bracket to hold them down on the base.
hi i've been bought some hot wheels 1968 from ebay! do you have any idea how to make it become shine like yours?, lol and why the turn or curve drastically decrease the cars speed compared to newer version of hot wheels turn (the banked one) any idea?
The steeper the curve, the more speed a car retains going through the curve. However, the steeper the curve, the more likely the car is to fall out of the curve at lower speeds. It's a bit of a trade off.
The easiest way to support a loop is to put it on some thin wood (particle board) and tape the loop to the wood. For the bigger loop support you are looking at, I used 1/2 inch hardwood. Cut out a rectangular base and then used a jigsaw to cut out the 4 wood supports that connect the base to the loops. Then use screws or glue to hold the wood supports onto the wood base. It's pretty basic actually.
Good question. I don't know if Mattel puts any lube on new car axles in the factory anymore. I'm guessing not because it would be an extra cost. Also, even small amounts of lube on brand new axles is of limited benefit. Get a little too much lube and the car will run slower.
Presuming that Hot Wheels axles are made of steel, then rust (iron oxide) can occur with enough exposure to water (high humidity) and oxygen. That said, I've never heard of Hot Wheels' axles corroding while in the blister pack.
The wheel wrench does not work on current Hot Wheels cars because they have thicker axles. It does work on Hot Wheels redlines, Ultra Hots and Hot Ones.
I’ve been buying BriteVision wheels A LOT lately!!!! Lol wonderful aftermarket wheel. 🔥🏁🏁
Another GREAT Video... What memories! Thanks again and keep them coming!
that looked like fun playing with tune up tower plus you gave a old car a new life, Merry Christmas

Awesome video! I have to get the Tune up Tower! That alignment center is awesome! This video makes me want to restore a redline. Thanks again, great stuff.
That's what made it great...it was a real functioning tune up center with actual alignment
You have amazing skills with the repair of that redline Corvette.Thank you for hours of great entertainment.
We love u because u bring back memories and ur calm
Really enjoyed the video, the tune up tower did a great job sorting out this classic corvette.

Great job on the corvette wheels and suspension
Great informative video. Totally hooked on Hot Wheels again since the late 60's. Thanks and Merry Christmas from St. John's, Newfoundland.

Brilliant! I've learned so much from you about how to tune up these cars. Just need to get a Tune Up Tower now
Yep, I just watched a grown man play with toy cars for 20 minutes! :D It was delightful! :)

Actually, you just watched a 10 year old boy, who 50 years later, remembers very clearly what a joy it was (and is) to play with Hot Wheels.
Really cool video once again! Now get that Vette in to the paint shop!
What an awesome video! I really enjoy watching all your your videos but this by far the best one!!
Amazing stuff, wtffor mentioned your site on his channel and so I swung by and I'm glad I did, I always knew the wheels came off, but I wasnt sure and I had never seen a wrench. thanks.
Love your videos. The best!
Well done, glad to have seen this video
Tune Up tower is my dream :'(

My favorite Corvette is the C6 ZR-1. Great video. even adults today are still kids at heart. Even myself
Even though she’s well played with, the old ‘Vette still looks good!
WOW best video ever
I have 3 TuneUp Towers .. one in a box never open!
Wow. I love it all!!!

Life is busy. So currently I put out a video once every month or two.
I also find that if you lack a small enough crochet hook, you could also use a tightly bent safety pin.
When i was nine. I commented: “the yvette must be rare”. I then replied “vette*” i was so stupid. Glad they are deleted!
It's bout'time!
cool ,TY
Man, that custom corvette was real screwed up. Good work.

...excelllent.... Cheeeeeers+))
lets see that C3 Stingray race his son, the C7 Stingray
Outstanding work! How do you straighten axles that are in rough condition of a USA car that doesn't have the openings in the bottom of the chassis?
All the original redlines (Hong Kong and US) have thin axles that can be straightened with a tune up wrench. The wrench fits on the exposed axle between the tire and the chassis. For badly bent axles it can take a good deal of time to get them straight again.

for the track you set up is the distance the same? i would think the outer lane is longer giving that car the disadvantage???
happy holidays!
Great video! Any instructions on making that Loop holder?
The loop holder is made from wood. It consists of a base and four brackets. I cut them out with a jigsaw. Then one screw in each bracket to hold them down on the base.
Loop Holder I love to have one,, be more then willing to pay you to do it !
I think this is a early version of the hot wheels ultimate garage
Must steal dads credit card to restore my cars. KIDDING kidding, actually it’s the drill and spray paint I’m stealing from him😈😂

It's a bit of a trade off.
Smackeral Cafe okay i will give it a try
Any advice on where to purchase Tune-up Tower replacement decals???
No. I have not seen anyone selling reproductions.
I want that
Will you show your loop support construction?
I still use books to support loops
The easiest way to support a loop is to put it on some thin wood (particle board) and tape the loop to the wood. For the bigger loop support you are looking at, I used 1/2 inch hardwood. Cut out a rectangular base and then used a jigsaw to cut out the 4 wood supports that connect the base to the loops. Then use screws or glue to hold the wood supports onto the wood base. very nice video!!!
new cars need lubricate?
Good question. I don't know if Mattel puts any lube on new car axles in the factory anymore. I'm guessing not because it would be an extra cost. Also, even small amounts of lube on brand new axles is of limited benefit. Get a little too much lube and the car will run slower.
i have some cars in the card closed..do you believe the axles in the future have problem with corrosion one day??
Presuming that Hot Wheels axles are made of steel, then rust (iron oxide) can occur with enough exposure to water (high humidity) and oxygen. That said, I've never heard of Hot Wheels' axles corroding while in the blister pack.
thank you very much!!!!
Does Brightvision carry Sizzler tire wheels?
Not that I am aware of. For Sizzlers tires you can try Sizzlers-Shop.
Thanks Again..
Well im using grease and the run fast for years
what type of lube did you use
All the information I have is what you see from 15:27 to 15:34. The package describes the lube as a white oil. I believe that means it is mineral oil.
Unfortunately it doesn’t work on hot wheels cars (new color variations and models)
The wheel wrench does not work on current Hot Wheels cars because they have thicker axles. It does work on Hot Wheels redlines, Ultra Hots and Hot Ones.
Smackeral Cafe anyway this year would have cars with redline wheels because of hot wheels 50th annerversity
What is the name of the towtruck
Tell me please please

Tow Jam
Smart
Song is made by Mamas and Papas
The front wheels are too big....it should be the smaller wheels
