I'm surprised he doesn't start the video showing us him planting the tree and nurturing it for about 35 years then cutting it down and milling it by hand. Once he gets perfectly straight lumber he makes these videos showing us his magnificent creations. I've never seen a cleaner woodworker. I swear these are how to videos for cleaning your workshop not building in your workshop. Thank you for the awesome videos!! I hope one day I'll be half as good as you. Hope you continue to share your work for years to come

the first one is more beautiful than the second one, which is trying to be beautiful and 'inspirational'. simplicity and directness in problem-solving is beautiful. obsession is not. stay simple and direct to the problem, dont go mental, and everything will always turn out ok. the way you milled the slot with adhesive sandpaper on the ruler was excellent

This build inspired me to make one, which I have now done with a few changes, works very well & I think I’ll make a smaller one with a 6inch ruler to keep the other one company. I looked through the comments on this & you don’t need anything other than basic tools to do the Superior one, trust me. My version doesn’t even require the locking internal plate, as long as the bolt is in the threaded insert straight and flatten/polish the bolt end it seats & locks the ruler fab, saves more too, thank you for sharing!👍

The simplified version of wood is Whitewood
CNC processed products use rosewood, beech and brass.
For the part to touch the work, I used rosewood with high wear resistance and used brass for the part where the ruler touched.
The leaf spring is glued so that the screw does not hit the ruler directly.
    Google Translation

As a armchair quarterback who makes nothing, I would have used the brass on the darker wood so it would stand out more. I think you could also make a half inch set on the end side with a solid metal line and then a inch on the other end. Then you would have 1 adjustable and 2 fixed for common measurements. Of course I could never make something so amazing. Brass and wood is a classic look. love it.
