DIY Making a super accurate corner clamp from scrap plywood

  • Hi guys,
I made a good use of scrap plywood creating a corner clamp this time.
I purchased a metal corner clamp a while ago, but it's not as accurate as it should be, so I found a way to DIY an acurate corner clamp.
It's not that I need to brag about this, but this clamp can be far superior to the ones you can buy. You get the right angle every time!
You can try this out using scrap wood laying around in your shop. You only have to make a small purchase, such as bolts, washers and nuts.

DIY jigs I've used in the video:

is it your idea? what do you mean unauthorized reproduction? ebay, amazone and many others have a lot of same products. who is unauthorized?

    • @Anoncore1
      @Anoncore1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@handyval4483 he means download of his video and re-uploaded as someone else ......you know like China taking product from others ,making it cheaper and selling it back, as in taking other peoples invention and creations.....not like that , or as in his video are not knock off of other existing product .....he means just reposting for profit .....you can recreate the video, but not be lazy and just reupload for profit .

As a master craftsman for many years I have to admire your work. Simple but effective. As far as the store bought corner clamp I would have glued a very thin piece of acrylic on each side of the bolt to rise the finished product higher to make for a better right angle. Nice techniques. Thanks for sharing...

as always, excellent craftsmanship! i have built a few of these myself and i found it helpful to relieve the inside corners at the bottom of the outside cheeks as well as the inside pressure pad. this allows for slight irregularities on the stock to be clamped. also, we shouldn‘t forget that these clamps only hold the pieces at right angles to each other, there is no latteral clamping pressure on the joint. this can be applied by using a bar clamp. great video as always!

Even some of the more expensive models are trash.
DIY is the right way here... simple, clean, precise. Nice.
Also, you should definitely make one for different thicknesses.

I'm definitely going to make this, just with cheaper tools and much more clumsily :)
I'm in awe of the fact that someone went through concept, design, planning, engineering, fabrication, production and sale of the metal one with such an obvious flaw as the material rocking on the screw! Great vid and what a nice workspace you have.

I am truly astounded by your level of understanding of simple mechanical devices, and how to make them play in your favor. I find myself oddly mesmerized by your accurate slight of hand, placing parts where they need be, using only the simplest tools available from your local hardware store and a little help from the Chinese suppliers.
I would gift you a crystal Finch for your wisdom and insight, would we ever meet.

Wow -there are some snaky, uncharitable comments on this video! Personally, I agree wholeheartedly with the creators implied criticisms of the purchased tool. My personal woodworking journey is barely begun, but the purchase of a tool such as that would be a disappointment -and yup, I’d definitely want to use it as demonstrated and that would have been my intent for the purchase.
Personally I’m very grateful that creators such as JSK-KOUBOU make videos like this that demonstrate to me what I need to be aware of when considering a purchase, and showing me how to do better, myself. That saves me money and encourages me to have go, expand my skills and understanding.
As to the “expensive tools”... I might be missing something, but it appears to me the tools used are what would commonly be expected in the majority of workshops, but which JSK-koubou has improved or built entirely himself to meet his own needs.

I'm 69 and over the years I have found that so many times "home-made" jigs, clamps, etc. are more accurate and cost less than a lot of "mass-produced" stuff and the biggest advantage is it gives us another excuse to be in the workshop "playing" with wood. LOL
I also appreciate there was no annoying "noise" (some might call it music, but it isn't) playing in the background or having to listen to the person rambling on and on and on.
