No BS, no nonsense, no drama, just pure class and incredible talent. Tennis lost a great player and most importantly a true Gentleman today. Good luck on the next chapter of your life, Legend !
Dominic's explanation is the same as Federer's in the game against Berdych because they are both intelligent and have a broad vision of everything that happens on the court. So the video and my comment is about two things: The intelligence of Federer and Thiem, and the bad character of Tsitsipas and Berdych..
No. Just no. When you thrust your racquet out in front of you on the full run, and your racquet hits the floor as you hit the ball, you have literally no idea at all whether you got to the ball before it bounced. In those circumstances you just have to rely on the judgement of the umpire. Neither Tsitsipas nor Berdych did anything wrong at all, despite both getting the ball back on the second bounce.
exactly, but to be honest what surprised me the most in that sequence is the umpire, I don't get how he didn't understand that, it's obivous and he's pretty experienced
The umpire kept saying second bounce, but that's not the point. As Them clearly explained, the racquet edge hits the ball into the ground and the ball bounces over with topspin rather than backspin. I have personally never made such a shot during a match, so I don't know what it feels like, but I think I would be able to tell whether I hit the ball into the ground or made a valid shot.
All these double bounce incidents, I dont understand why the umpire cant just see the replay we're seeing on the spot and just decide if it was a double bounce or not right then and there, like why does the match have to finish first before the umpire can see the replay it doesnt make sense
Poor sportsmanship from Tsitsipas not admitting that he hit the ball after it had bounced twice. As a player you know immediately that it bounced twice.
@@chrisbraun6534 Not at all. When you are running fast and hit the ball at the instant it touched the ground, it's hard to tell. I know Tsitsipas is not sportsman, but probably not in this case.
@@anseinueseima408 Pretty sure he knew. Even the commentator could instantly recognise that he couldn't have got it because of the way the ball reacted after the shot. A ball that is coming down onto the racket before the second bounce and a ball that is hit after bouncing up onto the racket come off in a completely different way because the ball is travelling in opposite directions as you play it. It was obvious he didn't get under it as both Thiem and the commentator pointed out.
On the first clip against Schwartzman, the chair ump called 1st serve to replay the point from the start after Theim said the prior 1st serve was out, but he went ahead and hit a 2nd kick serve anyways. Very cool.
It’s really hard for him to tell if the ball bounced twice. He was in full attack mode getting the ball. Sensing if the ball is bouncing twice is really none of your priorities in that moment. That’s why the umpire’s there. He should have seen it. I agree with you, that Tsitsipas is a poor sportsman normally, but not in this case.
@@Prof.Dr.Diagnose Can't say for certain, but it is pretty unlikely that he couldn't tell, if only from the spin the ball had on it after he hit it, exactly as Thiem was saying. If he had got underneath it before it bounced it would have had completely different spin and bounce and he would have been aware of that just as much as Thiem. End of the day he doesn't have to correct the umpire, but Thiem is being hailed as one of the game's class acts, Tsitipas definitely isn't, how do you want to be remembered.
@@Prof.Dr.Diagnose absolutely not, when you hit a ball like that you feel it when you didnt get to the ball in time a 100 pc. If you play tennis yourself you know what i mean.

One of the most humble gracious players and always a pleasure to watch.

This is video is pure class.
Thanks a lot for this video. We will miss Dominic 😢

If you play tennis, you know when you hit a shot like that 100 pc of the time that you couldnt reach it correctly. You just feel it.
Consummate professional and class act. Wish he hadn't been so hampered by injuries, guy was phenomenal.

Great sportsman!
I lve Thiem❤
that injury in 2021...
I miss roger.
DT is so underrated. Classy stylish and gentlemanly. Qualities which makes a real champ
Tsitpas always a cheater. That is why he will have no respect from us, the fans.
He didn't deserve the atp finals title
Great talent and skill with zero sportsman spirit.

Domi is one the finest player in th ehistory of the sport. Always very kind and fair!
My favourite player, along with del Potro. Thiem should have won a French Open, but, like everyone else, he was denied by Nadal.
The way referee looks in the end at Belgium women team speaks for itself
i missssss him so much
a genuine sportsman. A rare thing in today's " win at all cost" world. Some other players in all sports should have a look at themselves in a mirror.
I guess I didnt realize what a skinny kid Tsitsipas was when he was younger
Nicest guy on tour
great guy, never meddum
Aurelie, you are an incompetent umpire.
They replayed the point, Swartzman won the point and the match.
