I too did when novel was released as series in KALKI magazine, the second time, hope in nineteen sixties. Every Thursday it came and was waiting to read it in my school days. Had binded in volumes. The only pastime in annual vacations is to read it again and again. Tried to draw the pictures of VINU that came in print. No TV Radio or gadgets at that time. Don't know how many times I read it. The very first chapter, Chola soldiers coming to a hut near riverside and talking about the war coming soon....the Odakkaran and his wife's conversation on WAR I still remember... my wish, those who read the novel already, should not get disappointed😊❤

Ponniyin Selvan (transl. The Son of Ponni) is a historical fiction novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy, written in Tamil. The novel was first serialised in the weekly editions of Kalki from 29 October 1950 to 16 May 1954, and released in book form of five parts in 1955. In five volumes, or about 2,210 pages, it tells the story of early days of Arulmozhivarman (அருள்மொழிவர்மன்), who later became the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I (947 CE - 1014 CE). Kalki visited Sri Lanka three times to gather information for it.
