I have been toying with the idea of starting camera trapping where I am in the New England states in the US. So this was a good breakdown of how to get started in it. Thanks for making this video!
Ah that’s great to hear John ! You don’t always need the latest and so called greatest to start with. This is just what I use and there’s some brilliant forums and guides online to get you started. I’m looking forward to photographing Ontarios wildlife with these setups.
A nice little video, boy those blackbirds were really talkative. I was in Jackman, Maine for the solar eclipse. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
Thanks John ! I could have definitely done with the constant chatter. I knew I had to put a video together soon as later on in the week it went straight back out in the field. I’ve got some great trail camera footage of some new species and looking forward to sharing !
Hi Josh, great video, your set- up mirrors my own very well. Re your comment on Neil Jernican’s ram mount idea…I’ve been trying to find one in UK for ages but they all seem to be motorbike mounts and not robust enough, what size is the one you have used, 1” ball size? How long is the connecting piece between the ball heads? Thanks In advance 👍🏻
Thanks for the comment ! Yeah it was always a pain trying to find the right mount that could support the weight of the camera housing. I always went through a few mounts before going straight to RAM. I bought the following parts for my mount : RAM-202AU: RAM Ball Adapter with Round Plate and 1/4"-20 Threaded Stud - C Size (#6488) RAM-201U: RAM Double Socket Arm for C Size Balls (#1326) RAM-202U-24: RAM Ball Base with 1.5" x 3.5" 4-Hole Pattern (#10726 I bought them from a Canadian site called GPS Central. Hope that helps with your mount.
