One thing I love about this one... How she just stands there and keeps this performance right in a perfect little pocket. I have seen so many singing and talent shows over the years that I can confidently say that almost _anyone_ else (child or adult) would have had a change half way through this. The full band would have kicked in, and they would step off the platform and strut across the stage getting bigger and bigger, and finish with a big belty note. _Anyone that has watched any of these shows can picture the exact performance I just described_ ...but not this little genius. The artistry and understanding Angelina displays (even at barely 8) is something that amazes me over and over.
I just can’t imagine another child this age doing what Angelina does. I have 2 grandchildren aged 7 and this makes me realise how outstanding she is. Love your reaction and the joy on your face 💕💕💕
Angelina`s extraordinary ways of dynamic in this song, at THIS AGE, it blows me away every time I listen to this. That holding back, barely wispering "that awful sound - bang bang", even the look of her face - sadness in her eyes. I listen to Nancy Sinatra; - without seeing her, she sounds very good, but she can`t move me the same way. I say again: What a performance! The judge you mentioned, Bjarte, is a well known actor in Norway. And even as former leader of the "National Scene" theatre in Bergen Norway, I`m quite sure he has been involved in lots of auditions, both with adults and not at least by children. I doubt he ever saw something like these performances by Angelina during the NGT. As he decleared after this performance, " - if I did not happen to be a judge in this show, I would surtenly pick up my phone and give you my vote. That`s for sure."
I'm 69 and had heard this song but never really really understood it . Hearing Angelina sing it once I didn't just get it , I got it in my soul and I wept for my ignorance . Thank you again Angelina and so happy you found her as well Dave . We are never too old to learn and what a lovely teacher .
Your reaction is spot on as usual - I felt exactly the same way. Imagine you are witnessing this show live, and your expectations are actually quite low, maybe just looking for some entertainment. Most singers are mediocre, and suddenly comes this 8 year old girl singing this tune from "Kill Bill". Of course you remember that it was once sung by Nancy Sinatra, the daughter of the famous and unforgettable Frank Sinatra, and this little girl is trying to cover this song. After a few seconds you realise, if you actually understand music, that this might be a playback, an 8 year old Norwegian girl could not possibly sound like this. But then you finally surrender and accept that it is her, and you are completely overwhelmed by the darkness, the tone, the voice and the performance. Finally, because you have heard good music over decades, live or from vinyl, tapes and CDs, it begins to dawn on you that this is nothing you have ever heard or will hear again, that it is so unique and perfect, that you wonder why it happens here and today. This is when you look like the judges, this is when you feel you have to cry, because it feels unreal.
I’ve watched this hundreds of times but it’s so beautiful I watch it all the time Angelina closes her eyes all the time she says she goes into another world 🌎 when she sings and you can always hear the emotion in every song I never close my eyes when I’m listening to her sing I just love ❤️ to see the performance and Angelina’s face it you close your eyes you miss so much but I still go into Angelina’s world 🌎 and it’s a beautiful place to be Love 💕 from Denise in Yorkshire England 🏴👼👼👸🏻👸🏻🦶🦶🌟👏👏💕👍👋
I really enjoy your reactions to Angelina Jordan and you seem to express what I am not able to put into words. Thank you for doing these reactions! I notice you have a Powercat emblem on your shirt. I know some high schools use this emblem but I was wondering if you went to Kansas State University since they created and currently use the Powercat emblem. I went there and played in several Jazz bands. Probably before your time.
Her subtle nuances and vibratos I believe is what you mean then mix in some of her heart and soul and you have something ready to skyrocket and you're strapped to it as she has her way with you...and yeah that conductor from This is a Man's World was lucky to regain himself to finish the song.
Another great reaction, I love your facial expressions, makes your reaction to the music much more enjoyable and believable. Did you notice the little connection between AJ and the guitarist near the end, she was checking that they were on the same page for the ending. A professional even at that young age.

Dave, you are a top notch class reactor to the Angel. Don't worry about stopping to comment, great comments for sure. Angelina in full Angel dress and her arrangement of this song, it is hers as you may know by now, (genius) is just so completely different from the Nancy Sinatra version. Even at this age she takes us all to a new place when singing. She closes her eyes a lot while singing as she goes to that special place where she feels the music and emotes it to all of us. Anticipation of your next Angel reaction has me on the edge of my seat. There are quite a few really good reactors/commentators to Angelina and you are right up there with them. Bravo!!
I see you reacting on Angelina and I click. You are so enjoyable to watch. You enrich the viewers experience. You make my day with your joy and appreciation. Thank you!!!!
Angelina goes into her head space. You'll notice as you watch her videos. She takes a a breath, closes her eyes, goes into her head and leaves the child behind. When the song is done the child is there. It's remarkable. I enjoying the face. It's shows your love of what you are doing. Look forward to the next.
This was my first time seeing and hearing Angelina. It was recommended to me by TH-cam. I showed up to watch a cute little girl in a flower crown sing a cute little song. I've been fascinated ever since, 5 years now. Her grasp of the essence of the music astonished me, and that voice, even at 7, was mesmerizing.
For me it was 'Fly me To The Moon' on the 'Senkveld show' short after she had won NGT, about 6.5 years ago now. I remember it like it was yesterday and I found it back in my TH-cam history. At such a young age, you expect an angelic voice that sings "Somewhere over the Rainbow" or "O mio babbino caro," not an eight-year-old singing like a 30-year-old experienced and super talented singer, who I don't know today BTW. That day I stopped my search for the perfect music I had always wanted to hear and I never stopped listening to Angelina Jordan since then until today.
@@Mr.DamianM _ If addiction is to be present in the world (which it is in many forms), I cannot think of a better addiction one could or should have other than Angelina.! :-)
She sang this on the Netflix show, Lillyhammer. There is a video of her auditioning it for Steven van Zandt of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band who was a producer and star of the show.
Speaking of waiting around for a week to pass before hearing Angelina again, the night I discovered her I started searching more about her. I ran across video after video and then I saw a post by Rusty Shackleford which had a list. Long story short, within 2 weeks I had listened to everything I could find. I have listened to her everyday since with the exception of 2 days when going through covid. It is how I eventually found you Dave. Exceptional reactions sir, again thumbs up, I may not post all the time but like Angelina I will come back and visit every reaction you do.
Dave, you're going full blast ahead with Angelina, aren't you? I can't tell you how much I am absolutely loving your reactions! You are making it so much fun. I hope your wife understands exactly what is happening to you. And, for goodness sake, is she with you on this Angelina trek? Your comment about only doing one song at a time to do it justice was beautiful and even though you could be tempted to rush it a little, you say NO. Absolutely NO. I know you're a nice guy, but Dave, have you ever remembered smiling so much about one person? (Okay, maybe one other) :)
Although I cannot see the US existing as a sovereign entity for it's tri-centennial, Angelina and others give me hope that the best of our musical heritage will survive and be enjoyed for many more years.
They had to wait more than 1 week Dave. It was more like 1 month between performances. Norway's Got Talent 2014 was broadcast from 17 January to 23 May 2014, so 4 months for 4 songs.
Notice Angelina started singing within five seconds of stepping on the podium. The girl is fearless. She frequently closes her eyes while singing. She says she goes to her happy place.
hdctx - Hi - I'm glad you highlighted this, I was also going to mention it to WiDD, because I also think that whole entrance, came walk up from the back curtains of the stage and climb up onto that pedestal with impeccable timing to arrive at the mike within (I would actually say it was 3 seconds) of starting to sing [ but I won't argue with a fellow angel over 2 seconds :-) ] is in itself the professionalism of a top class, well versed artist. It just adds to how talented she was already then at such a young age. :-)
Great performers would love to have just one of her "OMG what just happened!" How many can she do? One No way! performance after another, and God forbid she does your cover. Just hand it over, it's here's now! This is a next level event. It will be her voice that get's us through, what's coming.
This is one of my favorites from Angelina because I’ve always loved this song. This is an eight year old giving us her own version of a song done by many famous singers. She plays with the time, she slides vocally into the Bang, Bang phrases, and her quiet, steady cadence just captivates and hooks us. Secondly, one of Angelina’s great strengths, which she seems to have from the cradle, is to express melancholy and loss so perfectly. It’s beautifully expressed here and in many other songs. Some amazing examples for you to consider: I’m Still Holding Out for You, A Million Years Ago, and Someone Like You. It’s a very young Angelina leading us adults through feelings of melancholy so convincingly, but beautifully, that we remember the pain that we’ve all had in our lives from relationships gone bad.
Yes, Angelina understands jazz. She even mastered much of it, as a little girl. As for conveying adult size hurts and emotions, she couldn't have possibly known as a child, I would attribute to her high level of empathy for the feelings of others.
yes, that is the hardest thing to believe. how can a 8yo understand what melancholy means except for some kids with mental problems. But Angelina is such a happy child with a healthy family environment around her. Her biggest loss at the time may be just a missing toy. How coudl she convey this melancholy feeling so precisely and convincingly. It is mind boggling
Norways singing princess 8 years old, now she is 15 years old. She have some big shoes to fill after Norways songbird Sissel Kyrkjebø. I hope that Angelina, like Sissel, let the joy of singing become her guiding star thoughout her music life. To see why Sissel should be Angelinas role model check out "Sissel in Concert All Good Things".
Dave thanks for reacting to this amazing performance by the Barefoot Angel. The only reason I will watch the compilation video is the last performance of Angelina where she sings “Summer Time.” At the end of that performance after Angelina is announced as the winner of the NGT, she starts crying. Even though she was crying because she was happy, still it was heart-wrenching for me.
This was my favourite of Angelina's NGT performances, although her a capella eliminator song, which she presumably never got a chance to rehearse and had never sung a capella, was one of the most impressive things I've seen. A massive 46 per cent of the public vote in the final, considering we're not talking about a kids contest and she had no sob story to garner sympathy votes, is quite an endorsement.
Alan - hi. If those facts are true (and not suggesting they are not) then I am even more blown away with that acappella performance. Wow. (as were the judges and I think all the other contestants stood behind AJ - especially the girl immediately behind and to the left as we watch Angelina. :-)
@@glenmorris135 I don't know for definite, Glen. But the judges normally ask the contestants to come up with something off the cuff to weed out the one trick ponies. Those that play instruments may do so but there is nobody in the wings to play a backing track. I don't know what the other contestants' specific talents were but what struck me about Angelina is how much of the song she did. other She has said Gloomy Sunday was a late decision and I can't think of a reason why she would have performed 'I'm a Fool' without the music. She sings to her own tempo anyway. Certainly, her accompanists follow her and not the other way around, so in a sense she is a capella a lot of the time. There is one video of hers where the track may as well have not been there (I don't remember the song but it will come back to me). Yes the girl in red was priceless and I've commented before that the couple of hip teenagers with guitars can't initially have feared much from the grade school kid whose mother pushed her out dressed like a wedding cake. They probably shared a joke or two about her but ended up needing their own moms on the way home.
@@alanoakley3242 - Oh Alan, that made me laugh, Thank you. You know, one thing I think occasionally and am sad about ( but then I just play 7th heaven and have a dance with my dog ;-) ) is that we won't ever see that Angelina again with the lack of teeth and ragamuffin looking hair [and wedding cake dress as you say] and deep deep dark beautiful eyes ( I know her eyes are still as beautiful but at that age of 7 / 8 they were probably more mesmerizing ) - but I don't dwell on that as what we have to look forward to is I'm sure going to get better & better though it hard to imagine how. But it is nice to reminisce about that past of Agnelina's from time to time and of course we are so lucky, thanks to many video recording to have those memories forever. :-)
@@glenmorris135 I detect another old romantic, Glen. I'm right there with you. If Angelina had just come on the scene with her last few performances, she would be no less a great singer but I believe her core fanbase, which I venture to suggest is, on average, at least three times her age, would instead be the TikTok generation whose attention span can be measured on a stopwatch. She'd be a has-been before she could vote. I'm a 64-year-old cynic often likened to an old cartoon character whose catchphrase was, "We're doomed". Angelina has restored a tiny bit of my faith in the 3 years or so I've been aware of her. No longer did I have to try and fail to foist my tastes and values onto the young ones around me, I could adopt this charming, sophisticated child I'll never know from a place I'll never go and who appears to be a better person already than I'll ever be. In a world where her peers' every characteristic is often digitally reimagined before they would contemplate exposing themselves, here comes an unapologetically snaggle-toothed kid so confident in her ability that she's willing to utter random syllables to replace song lyrics she can't make out and has made a pledge regarding her professional life at an age most kids' ambitions stretch no farther than Santa's next visit. It remains to be seen, as she chooses or is forced to shed her family's protection to step into the jungle, how a person like Angelina Jordan will cope. How will she react to being objectified? She's a minor, so the creeps are holding station but I have no doubts that the starting gate is bulging under the stress. How will her singing cohorts react to a new player who is the equivalent of the best passer, best receiver, best rusher, best blocker, best tackler, best punter, best kicker and knows it, however humble she may appear? Growing up on the mean streets gives a girl a fighting chance of dealing with the b*tches, but cradled within a well-to-do family in Oslo . . . ? Hopefully she won't feel she has to go the full Britney but is there any space for a barefoot princess outside the social media fable?
This was the third of four songs she sung for NGT. She sung "Gloomy Sunday" then "I'm a Fool to Want You" a cappella, this song, then "Summertime". She improves throughout the contest.
There was also a long time frame between her first and last performance, at least for a 7-8 year old, in NGT. When she sung "Gloomy Sunday," she was still 7 years old (in 2013), still missing some teeth, while most experienced singers who can sing this song have already lost their teeth.
Actually the compilation of her NGT performances is good to do all at once because it not only shows her progression, but it shows that what she did at every stage was intentional, they all are vastly different and what she had to do to make the sounds she wanted was nothing short of incredible. In Gloomy Sunday you can still hear the child voice, but she was able to round out the sounds to make you absolutely forget that it was a child singing, in her a cappella performance she was in full effect, and when she did Bang Bang you realize that she was in complete control of her voice and every aspect of her performance, Summertime is just a masterpiece. What’s incredible is that she did most of this when she was 7, she had just turned 8 when she did Bang Bang, but still, a child with this much command over her artistry is incredible!
Great comments, as usual. BTW, I believe she shuffled on two words the last time you stopped. But she was so professional that almost no one noticed. 👏 And the live shows at NGT are really live. 😊
sensilsen - I believe you are referring to the line Angie sings "He didn't take to life to chime" ? The original lyrics from when Nancy sang it are "he didn't take the time to lie" Of course others here may hear AJ's line different but I have listened to it in several videos of her singing this song over several years and I always hear the above (albeit I'm told there are recordings of her singing the same line as Nancy) but of course it isn't just a word swap it is quite different and I've always wondered if Angelina changed that line deliberately and on purpose though many seem to disagree and think it was a slight mix up but either way, to me it doesn't matter, she can sing whatever words in whatever order and I will still love it i'm sure. :-)
There have been a few reactors who quit reacting to her because they are critics and the praises just became repetitive and they couldn't find anything to criticize. One reactor said jokingly "get off my channel, you're too good!" I don't get it since each song is different, but there you have it.
has you seen how she is sometimes looking to the guitarplayer? only a real gifted singer or performer is doing this by his natural instinct. yes she is a cildprodigy as her grannie was in her own cildhood. i has told you that she was painting her fashion outfit on AGT. you can find some outfit's in her familie online shop. it's a familie buisness and so i belive she is very good protected from all of them, specially from her grannie. there are some videos with a younger guitarplayer named ivan Mendez from LA. another big angelina fan who has a channel only about her and with her coversongs/originals. he has done a interview with Ivan Mendes (born in mexico and grown up in LA) how it is and feels playing coversongs with her and how it all started with angelina from Norway to him in LA. maby you hasn't seen them yet, but you will instantly remember who i mean if you see a vid with him. he is a realy good musician too. maby this is the first interview with a performance partner of her in the web? it's the history about angelina jordan the future jazzqueen of our solarsystem. ,,alan papier interview with ivan mendez,, i hope you like it!
This was a big hit by Nancy Sinatra, but Angelina's vocals just penetrate me more. Her timing is impeccable, as is the volume she adjusts while singing this classic song.
Not one of my favorite songs, but she actually oozes the emotion in the lyrics. I love performers that can make me like something I didn't like before. Angelina and Pentatonix have that magical power.
The judge, young man, was actually a housefriend of Michael Jackson and still is a friend of that family. After NGT he befriended Angelina and her family and helped out driving Angelina around. He said she could just start singing in the backseat so he had to pull over just to be able to listen to her properly. 😅
I would love to see Angelina go back to Norway’s Got Talent as a guest artist in the next year or so. She would be a great inspiration to young artists who watch that show.
Ooooh - Now there is a thought to look forward to. And hopefully with the same judges brought back from 2014 - that would be amazing to see there faces - again. :-)
Your comments about Angelina shutting her eyes are appropriate. But not necessarily specifically for the reasons you mentioned. Angelina closes her eyes frequently during performances and even during rehearsal sometimes. She says she closes them because it allows her to go into a magical world of peace and love so that she can spread that peace and love around the world!
Angelina's magical voice floats along with the sweet tremolo guitar in perfect harmony. She captures the mood of this sad song far better than any other.
Sonny Bono wrote this song for Cher and it was covered by Nancy Sinatra...in the late 1960s'....so Angelina puts a tempo and style to it that makes it quite a different thing from the (at least to many of my generation) typical Sonny.
Hey ! You got back to me 7 months sooner than the last one ! Dave..... I underestimated you. I apologize for the trash talk. 😂 Why so long for an Angelina reaction ??
Even AJ can't save this song for me. I'm old enough to remember Cher singing it for the first time on the Sonny and Cher show and I disliked it. When the Nancy Sinatra version was on the radio I turned the radio off. While AJ sang it beautifully, I had to force myself to listen to it. It is still the all time ugliest song.
Once again enjoyed your reaction, can't help smiling along with you. Just admire AJ all the way. God bless you. 🙏🌷

Pleas react to Angelina s HOW GREAT THOW ART, and be astound....
Ouch. I would die waiting on that haha.
DAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM so young and yet will make a grown man cry.
Regularly Miguel
RIGHT?!!...OMG So beautiful!❤
Nice memory as it was the very first time I saw and heard her!
Check out the cover video where she sings Mikey Cyrus Nothing breaks like a heart. AJ so good!
Miley Cyrus, not Mikey..
Nice
Thanks again!..you haven't react to Born to die!...and Stay. In those she was 12.
Hei you have to lissen to one more dang she sing in Norway,s got talent..The old song..Summertime..💟
Such a pleasure watching your reactions, Dave. Angelina sure knows how to pluck our heartstrings.
@@FrankD491 I agree. Especially, at her age a half of a year is a long time.
@@FrankD491 :-)
She caught you, hook, line and sinker :)
You should react to her cover of "Every time we say goodbye", a estandard of Jazz, at the age of 11.
This' a good one.....but,
ooooh, can't wait till Summertime ;)
thnx Dave!
This was in the semi-finals. Angelina takes a 2-D song and makes it 3-D, time and time again.
What it do Dave,
Great comments, as usual. BTW, I believe she shuffled on two words the last time you stopped. But she was so professional that almost no one noticed. 👏 And the live shows at NGT are really live. 😊
sensilsen - I believe you are referring to the line Angie sings "He didn't take to life to chime" ?
The original lyrics from when Nancy sang it are "he didn't take the time to lie"
Of course others here may hear AJ's line different but I have listened to it in several videos of her singing this song over several years and I always hear the above (albeit I'm told there are recordings of her singing the same line as Nancy) but of course it isn't just a word swap it is quite different and I've always wondered if Angelina changed that line deliberately and on purpose though many seem to disagree and think it was a slight mix up but either way, to me it doesn't matter, she can sing whatever words in whatever order and I will still love it i'm sure. :-)
Glad you enjoyed this beautiful song by our beloved Angelina.
You are slowly learning that Angelina is a modern-day Mozart
There have been a few reactors who quit reacting to her because they are critics and the praises just became repetitive and they couldn't find anything to criticize. One reactor said jokingly "get off my channel, you're too good!" I don't get it since each song is different, but there you have it.
Tarantino should have hired her a long time ago.
Oh wow she would be a fantastic choice for one of his songs!
I would be just fine about Tarantino staying away from her! 🥴
i love the haunting quality she has with this song .. and the courage she has with slowing the tempo .. exquisite.
has you seen how she is sometimes looking to the guitarplayer? only a real gifted singer or performer is doing this by his natural instinct. yes she is a cildprodigy as her grannie was in her own cildhood. i has told you that she was painting her fashion outfit on AGT. you can find some outfit's in her familie online shop. it's a familie buisness and so i belive she is very good protected from all of them, specially from her grannie.
there are some videos with a younger guitarplayer named ivan Mendez from LA. another big angelina fan who has a channel only about her and with her coversongs/originals. he has done a interview with Ivan Mendes (born in mexico and grown up in LA) how it is and feels playing coversongs with her and how it all started with angelina from Norway to him in LA. maby you hasn't seen them yet, but you will instantly remember who i mean if you see a vid with him. he is a realy good musician too. maby this is the first interview with a performance partner of her in the web? it's the history about angelina jordan the future jazzqueen of our solarsystem. ,,alan papier interview with ivan mendez,, i hope you like it!
There's a lot of good reactors to AJ the Angel , but , you are on the top , if not , THE top ! Thanks again !!
This was a big hit by Nancy Sinatra, but Angelina's vocals just penetrate
me more. Her timing is impeccable, as is the volume she adjusts while
singing this classic song.
Not one of my favorite songs, but she actually oozes the emotion in the lyrics. I love performers that can make me like something I didn't like before. Angelina and Pentatonix have that magical power.
Just in time for my wake up. Thanks. Love your style. I'm ready for coffee now, lol.
The judge, young man, was actually a housefriend of Michael Jackson and still is a friend of that family.
After NGT he befriended Angelina and her family and helped out driving Angelina around. He said she could just start singing in the backseat so he had to pull over just to be able to listen to her properly. 😅
Oslo by Angelina Jordan check out her original song!
❤️🌷
Your comments about Angelina shutting her eyes are appropriate. But not necessarily specifically for the reasons you mentioned. Angelina closes her eyes frequently during performances and even during rehearsal sometimes. She says she closes them because it allows her to go into a magical world of peace and love so that she can spread that peace and love around the world!
Hi Ron - I'd love to have even a small glimpse into that world - wouldn't you?
@@glenmorris135 I'm not sure it would be the same if we were in there together LOL
Angelina's magical voice floats along with the sweet tremolo guitar in perfect harmony. She captures the mood of this sad song far better than any other.
The minimalist guitar with tremolo is not easy to sing with and make it work, kudos to them both.
i would be nervous to sing in front of everyone oh i heard this song on kill bill at the end i did not know you were going to say kill bill XD
Sonny Bono wrote this song for Cher and it was covered by Nancy Sinatra...in the late 1960s'....so Angelina puts a tempo and style to it that makes it quite a different thing from the (at least to many of my generation) typical Sonny.
As a fan of Angelina, it is ok to let the song play out and save your comments for the end. We fans understand.
Hey Dave.. Austin Brown just put out " Aint No Sunshine " ....
Hey ! You got back to me 7 months sooner than the last one ! Dave..... I underestimated you. I apologize for the trash talk. 😂 Why so long for an Angelina reaction ??
Has she released any new full songs? All I’ve seen is short one minute ones. Not really long enough to warrant a reaction.
I am number 18 to LIKE 💛 Bang Bang
I love her version of this. Nancy Sinatra did it years ago.
Sir, you've got talent, any chance you could check out Angelin's Natural woman by Aretha franklin? Much appreciated
Ppl came before me the biggest dave fan I'm disappointed in to myself
you are becoming popular... how much of a rise in subs in the past 3 weeks with AJA?
I don’t know. It’s hard to pinpoint. But I’d say about 1-2 thousand or so.
Dude.... Shut up and play the song.
WTF ? 🤣 Just revisiting this one with my man What-it-do Dave. We been together a couple years. Be well. 👍
