Dave, you are definitely becoming one of my favorite reactors. In fact, you are much more than a reactor. You're a beautiful human and you can feel "the moment" and we can see it in you. For you to find Angelina was "meant to be". What a crime it would have been if you would never had found her. But, YOU DID! She is so deep into your heart and it is a beautiful thing. How deep is my love for her? When I was a kid I grew up idolizing Mickey Mantle, the great NY Yankee baseball player. I've always said throughout my entire life if I was on a street corner with Mickey Mantle beside me and a bus came roaring down toward us, without question or hesitation, I would push Mickey out of the way and get run over by the bus. Ridiculous? It's about 50-50. Some people say I'm nuts and others would say,"I know where you're coming from and Mickey , he meant everything to you and life without him, well, your life would be empty. Love. I really loved the guy. Replace Mickey with Angelina. Same thing. I have been watching that performance 10,000 times and I am still amazed, astounded, bewildered, startled, blown away by the musical genius, prodigy and intelligence of Angelina. It is a god given gift that she received gracefully at birth and that she keeps opening and reopening to our immense pleasure. Through her dedication to her art, she is teaching us, among other life principles, to maintain an attitude of gratitude while experiencing the difference that she is operating in our lives. We cry because we are not used to that kind of magic in our daily living.

My humanity reality check is found in the talent shows. Especially amongst the younger generation. Their vocal and artistic interpretation brings me to tears almost all the time and brings me so much hope for the future.
I've heard reactors, usually highly trained vocal coaches, say "she was a bit pitchy on that last 'you' but let's give it to her", but to me it sounds deliberate, a mellisma, as unfathomable advanced as that would be for her age. Gorgeous!
I let the tears flow when I first heard this! To hear such a soulful performance from a 7 year old child, totally relaxed on a stage in front of 4 judges, TV cameras, the studio lights and an audience added to my reaction. I also noticed how the judges were so blown away that they weren't quite "ready" to stand up, yet. They wanted to sit there and process the awesomeness of what they just witnessed. Thank you for this reaction!
"Go out there and give them jazz".. Those words are reminding us how unique Angelina is, who does that at 7 years of age? It is ridiculous. And she delivered three more jazz classics in this show, which is absolutely mindblowing. And dont think for a minute that she was pushed into those choices. She was guided to jazz by her grandmother Mery, but from there, all these choices were hers, because she looked for, and liked every song she found. I have no words to express how impressed I am of that. Great reaction, Dave, I said you have become one of my absolute favorites last time, and this just confirmed that you are. If I'm guessing right, you might have noticed that many of us that have known her for many years started our journey with this song. She improved so much since that performance, but to me, it will always have a special place in my heart. So great, that beside all the sorrow and pain, Billy had to suffer, Angelina picked up the love coming from Billy Holiday. Just wow. And yes, for me there has been never a greater singer walking on earth, than Billy Holiday. Some were same level, like Nina Simone, but Lady Day is just unique.
@@markuss7249 , Billie, Nina, Ella, et al, are the best jazz singers of all time. Right now Angelina is proving that she should be on that list, too. We don’t know yet how high she will end up ranking yet. As mature as her voice is now at 15, she’s certain to improve even more! Hopefully, she realizes that whiskey, drugs, and cigarettes aren't necessary to reach that pinnacle. She has disproved that myth, and she's already better than most (if not all) of the current singers.

But so did Aretha, Etta, Sam, Freddie, & Janis. GOD made Angelina Jordan. She is a product of our maker, God Himself. Who else could make such joy and goodness??? Only God. A fantasy? Back in the 40’s there was an incredible jazz artist who made her audiences cry at the drop of a few notes. She led an uncomfortable life of heartache and pain offstage, and one day she met an unfortunate end. At Heaven’s gate she was met with an embrace and these words, “you have come to us before your time, but have no fear or regrets, as one day the world will need your loving voice and spirit more than ever, and you will return to aid their recovery.” One has to wonder.

I do not know if it is factual, but I have read that the shot of her mother as she was wiping away tears and put her hand to her mouth was the moment she realized she had just lost her daughter to the world. I do know that, as a parent, at that moment that would be my thoughts! Tears of joy and sadness at the same time.
So true. In interviews that night after the show, Sara made it very clear that Angelina would continue with a normal childhood and education would always be first, but in her heart she knew what you have said was true. She knew the inevitable. And, in "Shield" Angelina asked her mother's forgiveness for the burden she believed her "career" brought to the family over the years with the lyric line, "forgive me for all that I am."

I've heard another story about that incident (..but don't *know* if that's the truth either), and it goes more in the direction of that what we saw was the moment when her mother realized just how good her daughter was. And I can believe that, because it seems like the bigger occasion, the better Angelina performs. @@peterhormell1511 I don't think I ever gave much thought to what a true empath was until I began learning about Angelina and her "nature." NGT Judge Mia Gundersen called Angelina's voice "a gift from the universe." I'd say that applied to Angelina herself.

Here we go Dave. Thank you for letting us in on "the journey of your life". All this even at the same day as Angelina releases her "Live in studio" version of "7th Heaven". I am a bit overwhelmed right now, but boy am I ONE BIG smile. Over the couple of months the NGT lasted, she only made us more and more impressed. You are right that Billie had a very unique voice. Angelina seems to be able to cover so many people that seem impossible to cover. Billie, Lana del rey, Amy winehouse... these are all artists that have very distinctive voices... voices that I have never heard anyone do covers that do them justice... until Angelina. She is able to capture the unique features of artists that she is inspired by, while still making it all her own. Be sure to check out all her other Billie covers (as well as the others I listed). There are no words that can really express how special she is. Her family has kept her from being exploited too early. Over the years she has done many performances for charity, those are on her fan page. Please continue her Norway's Got Talent journey, each song is sung so differently, you see her versatility very early. One of the favorites is, Every Time I Say Goodbye, from when she left Norway to move to the U.S. it is sung on the rooftop of a television station in Norway with just one musician. It's so beautiful. Between HOME FREE and Angelina Jordan, you are amassing quite an eclectic group of us.

In an interview Angelina stated that without Billie Holiday there would have been no Angelina... It's amazing that such a young girl can be so hooked on such a complicated artist like this legend. I believe this passion of Angelina for Billie Holiday started a long time before "Norway Got Talent", and we know that Angelina had urged her mother to apply for her participation in these singing competitions years before this show.
Fabulous reaction Dave. Angelina's remarkable soulful voice and precise timing and rhythm inviting the entire world to her magical world. The connection she makes with the listener is incredibly powerful, bringing out tremendous emotion. After watching the new movie about Billie Holiday, I thought maybe Angelina is Billie's incarnation but instead of being surrounded by demons, this time she is surrounded by angels.

You'd once mentioned that you 'got emotional' at the close of one video, that you holding your breath. This is what happens with these judges. It's amazing to see them 'suck air' - gasping for air. You only do that after you've held your breath an unexpectedly long time. What can be learned is a work-ethic, and I think she's a fantastic student. By the way, Angelina has a lot of these "karaoke" videos - live vocals with backing tracks - I appreciate hearing you offer comparison between the many performers you've seen.

I've been following her since this. Felt so odd to be such a fan of a 7 year old. Not only is she 7 here, she didn't speak English yet. Doesn't matter how much I listen to her, it catches my breath, my heart, and I'm crying. She is a gift to this world and thankfully, kept safe, grounded and her talent indulged. She's now writing and plays several instruments.

The judge who spoke with Angelina first, (can't remember his name, the younger guy), is now a friend of the family. There are videos of him at different times with Angelina after this competition, he was even at her 11th birthday party in one video.
She does another Billie Holiday acapella on the show and she does it beautifully. My mouth drops every time I see it. She gets the timing down everything just amazing to see. I seen other people react to her Bohemian Rhapsody and they said where did she pull that note from at the beginning. She sings Billie Holiday acapella and she pulls the note out beautifully.
Dave, Really enjoying watching a true music lover, esp. jazz lover, witness these moments in time. Your comments are always spot on. These early videos from 10 and before just leave me in awe. When I was a senior in High School in 1972, the entire class was taken to the movie theater to see "Lady Sings The Blues". It's the story of Billie Holiday portrayed by Diana Ross, who was in her prime at the time, Billie Dee Williams and Richard Pryor also had starring leads. I've watched it many times since. I highly recommend you see it, great movie. I intend to see the new Billie soon and I've heard the lead playing Billie movie may get an Oscar. Thanks Dave
She does one or two takes on her live songs. Virtually every mistake made is by the musicians so a second take is done. She reads the songs, the musicians follow, she corrects the musicians, then the song is finished. Incredible.

Angelina can not be explained in natural terminology ,as hard as some try to do, I think this verse of scripture sums up Angelina's gift ,and it is a gift from on high from her birth. " Quote" : 1 Corinthians 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; ........... And it seems even as a little girl she knows what she has has given to her for a purpose and she operates in it with as much ease and confidence as she would be just playing a game art play time in recess at school. The stage is her play ground and she is totally at home and comfortable there and never ever is nervous ,as she knows what she can do , and knows no other can top her , and she does it with all the humility and humbleness like no other on the planet at this time.

Loved the reaction, Dave. I think Andra Day did a wonderful job in the Billie Holiday movie. That was actually her singing Billie's songs; not a lip-sync to Billie's audio. If you listen to Billie Holiday's actual version if "Gloomy Sunday," you'll see that Angelina killed this.

I think it's wonderful that we have her debut on the world stage forever captured on film. Anyone who has listened to Billie Holiday's original version of this song knows what a remarkable performance this was. I think you will also enjoy her subsequent performances on NGT, 2014, which in order are I'm A Fool To Want You, Bang Bang, and Summertime.
Angelina's mother who is crying and wiping away her tears, later in a interview she said 'it was then that she knew her daughter belonged to the world ' ...something along those lines.
The best description I have seen about Angelina's ability, she hears a song and becomes the song. She was changing songs from the beginning and making them better, songs that were already great she could take a song and feel the song, become the song and knew exactly what the song was, how it would best be sung and sing it like she wrote it. I am 72 years old and have been listening to music all my life, I can not think of any other singer who has her ability, and she developed it before she was 7 yrs old.
As beautiful as this "gloomy Sunday" is, it pales in comparison to her rendition of "I Who Have Nothing" where she shows the true power of her early self. She just gets better and better from here on.
@Mike Geniole Some of her notes are slightly off (whose aren’t at six years old), but I absolutely LOVE that video for two reasons. First, it shows her fearlessness at being willing to tackle a very difficult song at full throttle with such determination. And secondly (and I think most importantly), it shows how much Angelina absolutely enjoying singing. Singing is certainly what she is born to do.

"Go out there and give them jazz".. Those words are reminding us how unique Angelina is, who does that at 7 years of age? It is ridiculous. And she delivered three more jazz classics in this show, which is absolutely mindblowing. And dont think for a minute that she was pushed into those choices. She was guided to jazz by her grandmother Mery, but from there, all these choices were hers, because she looked for, and liked every song she found. I have no words to express how impressed I am of that. Great reaction, Dave, I said you have become one of my absolute favorites last time, and this just confirmed that you are. Angelina once said that if there was never a Billie Holiday then there would never have been an Angelina Jordan, that is how much she appreciates Billie and Jazz.
If I'm guessing right, you might have noticed that many of us that have known her for many years started our journey with this song.
She improved so much since that performance, but to me, it will always have a special place in my heart. I actually love its complete rawness, the nonchalance on stage, the little imperfections that make it so perfect~
This song and this performance will allows have a special spot in my heart. I have aways loved Billie Holiday and this is when I first discovered Angelina. It was quite the double treat.

So great, that beside all the sorrow and pain, Billy had to suffer, Angelina picked up the love coming from Billy Holiday. Just wow. And yes, for me there has been never a greater singer walking on earth, than Billy Holiday. Some were same level, like Nina Simone, but Lady Day is just unique.
@@markuss7249 , Billie, Nina, Ella, et al, are the best jazz singers of all time. Right now Angelina is proving that she should be on that list, too. We don’t know yet how high she will end up ranking yet. As mature as her voice is now at 15, she’s certain to improve even more! Hopefully, she realizes that whiskey, drugs, and cigarettes aren't necessary to reach that pinnacle. She has disproved that myth, and she's already better than most (if not all) of the current singers.
Oh yes there would be Angelina, her music and her voice. She has her own style, taste and most importantly HER VOICE AND STYLE. Billie inspired Angelina. But so did Aretha, Etta, Sam, Freddie, & Janis. GOD made Angelina Jordan. She is a product of our maker, God Himself. Who else could make such joy and goodness??? Only God. Angelina Jordan wouldn't be here ONLY if God decided not to have her here. Same as Michael Jackson. A gift only God Himself could give. My only concern is, just how long will God let us enjoyed his gift before He takes her to heaven. I pray I'm long gone before He does that. I'm the same age as Michael Jackson. So it's like I grew up with him. It was very painful when he passed. I don't want to go through that again.

A fantasy? Back in the 40’s there was an incredible jazz artist who made her audiences cry at the drop of a few notes. She led an uncomfortable life of heartache and pain offstage, and one day she met an unfortunate end. At Heaven’s gate she was met with an embrace and these words, “you have come to us before your time, but have no fear or regrets, as one day the world will need your loving voice and spirit more than ever, and you will return to aid their recovery.” One has to wonder.

Thank you Dave, she takes you on a journey, and I get lost in sound in her soul. I may be biased as I am a huge Billie Holiday fan, but Angelina manages to transport you somewhere that for a short time you're soul needs to be. Be safe 👍💞
I do not know if it is factual, but I have read that the shot of her mother as she was wiping away tears and put her hand to her mouth was the moment she realized she had just lost her daughter to the world. I do know that, as a parent, at that moment that would be my thoughts! Tears of joy and sadness at the same time.
So true. In interviews that night after the show, Sara made it very clear that Angelina would continue with a normal childhood and education would always be first, but in her heart she knew what you have said was true. She knew the inevitable. And, in "Shield" Angelina asked her mother's forgiveness for the burden she believed her "career" brought to the family over the years with the lyric line, "forgive me for all that I am."
OMG, that is so sad, and yet so revealing of Angelina’s empathic nature. I will forever think of that line as being the essence of “Shield”. Thank you for sharing that. ♥️
I've heard another story about that incident (..but don't *know* if that's the truth either), and it goes more in the direction of that what we saw was the moment when her mother realized just how good her daughter was. And I can believe that, because it seems like the bigger occasion, the better Angelina performs. In my thoughts it *may* be so that she never sang this good at home when her mother listened... looking forward to Angelinas biography :-)
@@peterhormell1511 I don't think I ever gave much thought to what a true empath was until I began learning about Angelina and her "nature." NGT Judge Mia Gundersen called Angelina's voice "a gift from the universe." I'd say that applied to Angelina herself.
@@jandalan2860 It's hard to say for sure, but I'm sure her mother saw the "I Who Have Nothing" video when she was 6. If that didn't seal the deal I don't know what would :-) But like you, I'm waiting for the biography which won't be published until long after I'm gone, for sure.
Here we go Dave. Thank you for letting us in on "the journey of your life". All this even at the same day as Angelina releases her "Live in studio" version of "7th Heaven". I am a bit overwhelmed right now, but boy am I ONE BIG smile. Over the couple of months the NGT lasted, she only made us more and more impressed. And she folowed up that same path trough the following years, as I am sure you know by now. So be sure to keep it up, let them come! :-D
You are right that Billie had a very unique voice. Angelina seems to be able to cover so many people that seem impossible to cover. Billie, Lana del rey, Amy winehouse... these are all artists that have very distinctive voices... voices that I have never heard anyone do covers that do them justice... until Angelina. She is able to capture the unique features of artists that she is inspired by, while still making it all her own. Be sure to check out all her other Billie covers (as well as the others I listed). Also, here is a little quote from Angelina about this particular song.....

Dave I so enjoyed watching the joy on your face. There are so many reactors of Angelina but I must say you have become engrossed with her voice like I have. The emotion is real because Angelina was born to sing. This world has a chance of being better because of Angelina IMHO. Thumbs up sir.
There are no words that can really express how special she is. Her family has kept her from being exploited too early. Over the years she has done many performances for charity, those are on her fan page. Please continue her Norway's Got Talent journey, each song is sung so differently, you see her versatility very early. One of the favorites is, Every Time I Say Goodbye, from when she left Norway to move to the U.S. it is sung on the rooftop of a television station in Norway with just one musician. It's so beautiful. Between HOME FREE and Angelina Jordan, you are amassing quite an eclectic group of us.

In an interview Angelina stated that without Billie Holiday there would have been no Angelina... It's amazing that such a young girl can be so hooked on such a complicated artist like this legend.
I believe this passion of Angelina for Billie Holiday started a long time before "Norway Got Talent", and we know that Angelina had urged her mother to apply for her participation in these singing competitions years before this show.
Fabulous reaction Dave. Angelina's remarkable soulful voice and precise timing and rhythm inviting the entire world to her magical world. The connection she makes with the listener is incredibly powerful, bringing out tremendous emotion. After watching the new movie about Billie Holiday, I thought maybe Angelina is Billie's incarnation but instead of being surrounded by demons, this time she is surrounded by angels.

You'd once mentioned that you 'got emotional' at the close of one video, that you holding your breath. This is what happens with these judges. It's amazing to see them 'suck air' - gasping for air. You only do that after you've held your breath an unexpectedly long time.
What can be learned is a work-ethic, and I think she's a fantastic student.
By the way, Angelina has a lot of these "karaoke" videos - live vocals with backing tracks - I appreciate hearing you offer comparison between the many performers you've seen.
My gosh, your reactions are super great. You put a lot of heart into it. I have enjoyed Angelina about 6 or 7 months after NGT. I was a lot younger then, now I'm 80, and wow she has been great for lowering my blood pressure. I have to listen to her almost every day. Thank you for being there. : )

She sings without an instrument on her next performance, you have to listen to it. Angeling's mother said in an interview after her first appearance that she did not show how good she was 😳!
I've been following her since this. Felt so odd to be such a fan of a 7 year old. Not only is she 7 here, she didn't speak English yet. Doesn't matter how much I listen to her, it catches my breath, my heart, and I'm crying. She is a gift to this world and thankfully, kept safe, grounded and her talent indulged. She's now writing and plays several instruments.

The judge who spoke with Angelina first, (can't remember his name, the younger guy), is now a friend of the family. There are videos of him at different times with Angelina after this competition, he was even at her 11th birthday party in one video.

She does another Billie Holiday acapella on the show and she does it beautifully. My mouth drops every time I see it. She gets the timing down everything just amazing to see. I seen other people react to her Bohemian Rhapsody and they said where did she pull that note from at the beginning. She sings Billie Holiday acapella and she pulls the note out beautifully.

Dave, Really enjoying watching a true music lover, esp. jazz lover, witness these moments in time. Your comments are always spot on. These early videos from 10 and before just leave me in awe. When I was a senior in High School in 1972, the entire class was taken to the movie theater to see "Lady Sings The Blues". It's the story of Billie Holiday portrayed by Diana Ross, who was in her prime at the time, Billie Dee Williams and Richard Pryor also had starring leads. I've watched it many times since. I highly recommend you see it, great movie. I intend to see the new Billie soon and I've heard the lead playing Billie movie may get an Oscar. Thanks Dave

She does one or two takes on her live songs. Virtually every mistake made is by the musicians so a second take is done. She reads the songs, the musicians follow, she corrects the musicians, then the song is finished. Incredible.
How on Earth after 50+ times watching any one of her performances (Under estimated amount) You still fight back tearing up? and I never? I don't get it! It's like I'm trying to figure out why! and thanks, your the man Charlie Brown!

From left to right, starting with Father Gerry, Sister Juliette, Angelina, Grandmother Mery Zamani, and Mother Sara.
I also experienced something similar on March 8, 2014, when I first saw this recording(this was her first appereance on yt). Especially because it is originally a Hungarian song, Billie Holiday sang in 1941 a not-quite-perfect English translation of it, but she made this song famous...
note: The young male judge became very good friend to Angelina
He was also a close friend of Michael Jackson and the family.

And it seems even as a little girl she knows what she has has given to her for a purpose and she operates in it with as much ease and confidence as she would be just playing a game art play time in recess at school. The stage is her play ground and she is totally at home and comfortable there and never ever is nervous ,as she knows what she can do , and knows no other can top her , and she does it with all the humility and humbleness like no other on the planet at this time.

Loved the reaction, Dave. I think Andra Day did a wonderful job in the Billie Holiday movie. That was actually her singing Billie's songs; not a lip-sync to Billie's audio. If you listen to Billie Holiday's actual version if "Gloomy Sunday," you'll see that Angelina killed this.

I think it's wonderful that we have her debut on the world stage forever captured on film. Anyone who has listened to Billie Holiday's original version of this song knows what a remarkable performance this was. I think you will also enjoy her subsequent performances on NGT, 2014, which in order are I'm A Fool To Want You, Bang Bang, and Summertime.

Angelina's mother who is crying and wiping away her tears, later in a interview she said 'it was then that she knew her daughter belonged to the world ' ...something along those lines.

The best description I have seen about Angelina's ability, she hears a song and becomes the song. She was changing songs from the beginning and making them better, songs that were already great she could take a song and feel the song, become the song and knew exactly what the song was, how it would best be sung and sing it like she wrote it. I am 72 years old and have been listening to music all my life, I can not think of any other singer who has her ability, and she developed it before she was 7 yrs old.

As beautiful as this "gloomy Sunday" is, it pales in comparison to her rendition of "I Who Have Nothing" where she shows the true power of her early self. She just gets better and better from here on.

Some of her notes are slightly off (whose aren’t at six years old), but I absolutely LOVE that video for two reasons. First, it shows her fearlessness at being willing to tackle a very difficult song at full throttle with such determination. And secondly (and I think most importantly), it shows how much Angelina absolutely enjoying singing. Singing is certainly what she is born to do.
So, this is how much I like your reactions. I watch you over and over again. Well, you reacting to Angelina.
