Same issue here, but I have the 2.7 engine which is slightly easier to work with. The two solenoids on the 2.7 are on the right hand side and bank 2 can be removed without removing any other engine components. My oil solenoid failed just like any other would, my oil was dirty at the time and the filter screen on the solenoid failed under hard acceleration on the highway. My codes where P0300 - multiple cylinder misfire P0018 - camshaft/crankshaft position correlation. P0302 - misfire cylinder 2 P0304 - misfire cylinder 4 P0306 - misfire cylinder 6 Because cylinder 2, 4, and 6 are effected, this tells me it’s bank 2 solenoid, which it was. Hope this helps someone.
Well what happened with yours ? I'm doing the same on my 07 entourage with p0018 code. had the motor completly rebuilt. new timing chain & tensioners etc. both hyundai oe. vvt selonoids. took motor out again & back to shop. timing marks verified ok. took off phaser and pin is not sheared off. took it apart & it looks fine. also new both cam pos sensors & crank sensor.
I only hoped to replaced valve cover gasket and in doing so feel like I cursed my gf 2007 sonata 3.3. After that took forever to get down to the covers i used steel wool and carb cleaner to clean as much as possible and reassembled the car threw codes for both solenoids. I replaced them after the longest fight with a car in my life. Got it rolling for 4 months, then a few weeks ago, the car started shaking real bad and got code p0018 and all the spark plugs. Needless to say I am very disappointed. I worry the oil pump screen is clogged, vvt solenoids need replaced again, timing chain is ruined, or the fact that I dont have the mustard to do the job.
Dang that stinks. I was really worried about mine after I changed them but they held up until I sold the car. I don’t know if you bought factory Hyundai solenoids or not but sometimes the ones from autozone and Oreily can fail prematurely. It’s definitely a poor design from Hyundai. I’m now buying Toyota vehicles and so far so good. Fingers crossed 🤞
I'm getting codes p0018 and misfire #3 I'm replacing one VVT solonoid that is on that bank. I will know in about an hour or two if it worked. BTW this Santa Fe 3.3 I'm working on was run with little to no oil. Filling it back up had no effect
I just did this job on my 07 Santa Fe. Only one vallve was bad, but I replaced both since the car had over 250k miles.
Helps a lot
Change both codes are still reading the same. Any advice

Any luck with repairs?
