    The one thing I think needs to be done when booking an Alaskan cruise is to make sure the itinerary includes day cruising Glacier Bay National Park.

    I have a question about something you do when sitting on your veranda. You said that you play music when sitting outside while going thru some of the breathtaking areas. I know that at times the Captain or Cruise Director is speaking about the scenery or even seeing whales in the area. If your music is loud then even the people on verandas surrounding yours may miss this information or even just be annoyed by the distraction keeping them from enjoying the sounds of water falls, perhaps ice falling from a glacier, whales coming to the surface, etc. There is so much to see and hear. Just saying to be aware that everyone may not enjoy hearing your music, we were very disturbed on our Alaska cruise by the music playing from the veranda next to ours.

      Alaska is best enjoyed in the quiet. Playing music on the deck is so meh. Wouldn't recommend it. When you sail by the ice in the quiet ut's surreal. The lower the deck the better actually. You will be close to the icebergs floating past.

    • @BlessedTravelVacations
      @BlessedTravelVacations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      We would like to think that we are courteous cruisers and always keep our music at a low volume. To your point that music is for me to enjoy not my neighbors. Everyone has a different idea of what makes the view ideal, we tend to enjoy music at low volume and absolutely listen to nature. It really is just a preference but for us we find it amazing to be able to sit out in our balcony and talk, listen to the surroundings and play our favorite Jack Johnson song. What's better than that?

      I just got back from an 11 day Alaskan cruise. The best place on that ship was our balcony during this epic trip. The quietness made the beauty and experience even more surreal. I always made sure to whisper while on our balcony as did everybody else. I don’t think I heard one person speak normal volume the entire time. The only thing I heard on our balcony was the Naturalist speaking which I absolutely loved learning while viewing. Personally, I would have been upset if I heard music and think that’s disrespectful to other people. It may be a low volume but it does echo more than you may realize. The pure beauty in complete silence (and the Naturalist) sometimes had me in tears, literally. I know I would not have had the opportunity to soak up everything around me and have the same emotions if I had to listen to music that was out of my control.

    In Skagway, the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway you’ll need a Passport! Part of the route does go through Canada!
    And some Cruises stop in Vancouver or Victoria, which again you’ll be in Canada!

    Hello ***Tony, I found the videos that you updated for Alaska to be very helpful. I also noticed that you just came back from a recent trip so I do appreciate that most of your information is very current. May I please ask if you Recall passengers utilizing the pool during the cruise to Alaska with the cold weather? I appreciate the tips on packing and not over packing. Are there any other recommendations you have for ensuring we have adequate warmth. We leave on the third from Seattle. Again, Nicely done And sincerely appreciate it

      Hello, thank you for your kind words. We are so happy to assist in any way we can. We got somewhat unusual weather in that it only rained at 1 of the 5 ports we visited. While we never used the pools, slides or hot tubs there were several people that did use them during the day. I guess everyone's tolerance for cold is different, for us it was too cold but for some fellow passengers they seemed fine with the water and outside temperature. I am not sure which ports you will be visiting but this time of year you can expect the highs to be mid to upper 50's and the lows to be in the 40's. I would recommend a couple of warm sweaters, a rainproof jacket and possibly a hat. I think you are going to have an amazing time. We would to hear about your trip. Please share with us your experiences upon your return. Have a wonderful trip!

      We went on Princess they were awful. The pools were closed their was very small hot tubs full of kids never could use. I could go on and on about what was awful! The food was repeat of same items all week. Their was very little entertainment. Their was two LGBT meet and greet per day. That did not benefit us. The entire cruise was a high pressure Jewelry sales event. The weather was unbelievably good for June. Didnt need our rain boots jackets or coats. Princess was just awful!!

    Hi Tony, May I ask you what month you went, just for reference? We are going in April. I live in Seattle so I get the weather out this way, but Alaska is so far north east. Hoping that April will give us at least 2 days of our 7 days cruise of nice weather.

    • @BlessedTravelVacations
      @BlessedTravelVacations  ปีที่แล้ว

      Congratulations on your cruise. We went late July/early August which tends to be the best time to go for best weather but as you know there are no guarantees when it comes to weather. You may very well get great weather in April, it just so hard to know for sure. Either way this is amazing trip, so regardless of the weather make the best of it. Do something amazing, go explore and take lots of pictures. We would love it if you post some pictures and share with us Instagram. Hi. Thank you for the information. I wish you will do a part 2 of "things to know before cruising in Alaska." I want to inquire if you would recommend an Alaska cruise to handicapped people, and if you would, what activities would you recommend they can do at the ports of call?

    • @BlessedTravelVacations
      @BlessedTravelVacations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your feedback. Actually after filming this video we thought of other things that we thought we important. Please subscribe to our channel as we may just do another in the near future. Great question about taking an Alaskan cruise with a disability, we believe that Alaska is actually the perfect location for a cruise with someone with a disability. While it is true that if there are mobility issues that person may not be able to enjoy the ports or activities in the ports the scenery while cruising is absolutely amazing. We have cruised a lot and the views are always great but Alaska has so much more to show than just a vast ocean. Selecting the right ship and itinerary will be key to maximize your enjoyment. Send us a message at cruise@blessedtravelvacations.com so that we can assist you in selecting that perfect cruise.

      My mom used a scooter and wheelchair during our Alaska cruise and there were many things she was able to see and do. Of course there were excursions she couldn’t do, but she still had a great time. Just read the excursion itineraries carefully. They’ll let you know the level and if you can’t bring a wheelchair.

    Hey thanks for this very informative video. Your audio is really good and your natural lighting is very effective.
    Pro tip however, when shooting yourself talking into the camera, tilt down. You don't need all that headroom above your head. The viewer doesn't need to see the painting, they want to see he speaker. Good job.

Ive currently got an inside cabin but i had been thinking about upgrading to a balcony cabin. Can you make any suggestions on excursions that are must see? Or can you tell me anything we need to make sure to know that i might know about? Will there be enough for my son to do if he does the teen activities aboard? What do you suggest i try? Thanks in advance everyone! Oh one last question: any chance we might see the northern lights???

      Because of a US maritime law, any cruise line that is not registered in the US, that cruise needs to have at least one foreign port. Most cruise lines that go to Alaska are registered outside the US so that is why there is a Canadian port. Does anyone know of any American cruise lines that go to Alaska?

    • @BlessedTravelVacations
      @BlessedTravelVacations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually there is cruise operators that sail throughout Alaska without stopping in Canada. The major cruise lines almost always depart or stop in Canada but we work with cruise operators that originate in Alaska therefore you do not need to stop in Canada. 20 feet of rain???
    Check your facts
    20 mm or inches maybe...

    • @BlessedTravelVacations
      @BlessedTravelVacations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Actually on average Ketchikan gets about 12 feet of rain per year. Alaska does get a lot of rain, in fact Little Port Walter, Baranof Island, Alaska received 245.7 (20. 4 feet) inches of rain in year a several years back. Of course not all of Alaska get this much rain, just part of Alaska, so the spirit of the video was to share that one should come prepared when coming to Alaska because there is a good chance you will get some rain. Thank you for your comment.
