I’ve seen him live 3 times and never disappoints, one of the only bands I’ve seen who sound as good live as the album recording, I doubt there will ever be another as good as him.

Steven has amazing character in his tone. It overshadows most of the technical flaws of which you speak. Overall, his voice is very easy to listen to. Especially compared to so many of the more polished singers, who are frankly quite forgettable. I've just started listening to your videos over the last few weeks. Steven didn't always sound like he does today !!! To me... He is living proof of vocal progression to a new place and time !!! Amazing drive and talent !!
He's a very exclusive. Authentic interpreter. You can't just analyze his interpretation without considering his whole body communicating exactly what he"s feeling and vocalizing as well. He's in another level. I just love him 💕
Steven’s voice has improved with age. I love his voice period and his style. I have loved him since I was a teenager. Isolating his vocals just makes me love him more. He puts on an amazing concert.
I like that he goes for feeling over technical perfection, as well as having such a distinctive voice and he leaves it all out there after a performance. Loved hearing your breakdown of him, thank you very much
I have to say that you've been a huge influence on me. In the summer I started learning to sing. I started progressing little by little using your free tutorials. After months of saving up, I'm finally enrolled in the course. Of course like everyone, I'm struggling right now trying to figure our the support mechanism, open throat and the ping. I would say that his crying and cracking voice is something that makes him very specific singer. I like all imperfections he does but yes, you are right, he yodels very often ;)
I personally love Steven Tyler's voice...and style. wish I had this much style. Aerosmith is definitely one of my top 5 rock bands. Once again you give us the best vocal analysis.
I love Steven's voice, he sounds great, even without backup music behind him..And one more thing, he still can rock that voice of his at his age! He's in his early 70's and he still can belt out his voice like no tomorrow. God bless him, anyone that can sing would be blessed to still have a great voice like Steven at his age. That man can still scream out a tune without failing...So that's my two cents about Steven Tyler...Real name Steven Victor Tallarico, that Italian man can sing! Bello!
The inhales he uses are magic...This guy spit on me while performing Sweet Emotion in Charlotte N.C. when I was a teenager and I still love his range !!! Love your work Brother...Rocker in NC...
Steven inspires me to sing with more "character". Furthermore, it makes me want to be more adventurous and courageous and go for things that may sound hideous by themselves but sound great in the context of the track.
Great analysis. I've been to a few Aerosmith concerts and I can honestly say that Steven (and the band) never phone it in. He always leaves it out there. You always leave the concert with your mind blown.
Lmao Ken !, from 16.08 kiss my eyes section. What a hoot but shows how into his singing character Tyler is and to pull the character off naturally gets him great results.
Now that’s a singer and a half. Tyler really is a rock legend if ever there was one. Thanks Ken. Some funny points and interesting analysis and your education on his weaknesses was very interesting ! Always speak the truth I like it.
Isn’t it wild that Steven was in his 50s when this was recorded. Even though he might have improper technique he sung like that for 40 years without having to have surgery and touring more than just about any other band. Amazing!
What did he have done? Some type of scarring on his vocal cords, nodules, polyps? That is scary thought for a vocalist, look what happened to Julie Andrews. She was fantastic soprano and endured botched surgical procedure that changed her life for ever.. Such a shame.

You are very fortunate that you have such wonderful gifts. You are blessed! Thanks for sharing 😊💗 Oh, I do have to say that Steven’s style is endearing to we rock fans as Aerosmith is affectionately known as “America’s Rock Band”, and that raspy voice has earned him his wings! 😀💸

Ken, I must comment! I don't comment too often! First, I didn't know Sammy Hagar was your cousin! Very cool! Awesome! I love Sammy Hagar's voice! Love it! Steven Tyler is my biggest singing influence, which may or may not be the best model to be influenced by because of the vocal harm he's done to himself, however, the things that you subtract from his voice that you personally don't care for, I love. Those little vocal pinches, those blasted falsettos, non-modal, almost death metal falsetto screams of his, those are part of the signature characteristics that make his voice iconic and immediately identifiable.
Steven Tyler is by far my most favorite vocalist, because of his signature Whining vocals he uses at the end of his vocal lines. He is one of the most original sounding vocals I have ever heard. With his rockstar image, Original signature voice, Amazing stage performances makes him a legend and he will always be the best vocalist of all time with amazing history Of great hits! I love everything about his greatness I would never change a thing he does!
I enjoyed watching you critique Steven Tyler. It’s crazy how much there goes into singing, saving your vocal cords, breaths and so many terms and techniques. Ken, I’m a lousy singer. I don’t think there’s any hope for me but I’ll check your free demonstrations for the hell of it. Wish me luck!

Man Ken you teaching stuff they dont even teach in schools in music classes, America could really use more music/singing teachers like you in the school systems
Steven is so unique, and I personally don't care about the imperfections in his singing, he's just the one and only Steven Tyler. I love his style and voice so much. If I had to choose only one singer whom I have to listen for the rest of my life, it would be definitely Steven Tyler. Gotta love that guy!
Music can be very complicated in my opinion. There are thousands of different perspectives when it comes to music and that's what makes it interesting for me. Only a few artists have had the ability to really connect to its listener on the deepest levels and to move people emotionally through there life. Micheal Jackson, led Zeppelin, Bob Marley,Nirvana just to name a few. They just didn't show up but they changed the world and that's powerful..thanks
I actually think the scream you pointed out sounds amazing, I can do that note but try as I may I'll never be able to make it sound like that. It's just so unique that it doesn't get any better than this.
Gonna watch this series religiously and practice with it. I don't intend to sing on the stage myself, but expanding my vocal range actually enhances my inspiration in music-making. I don't know why it is so, but somehow if I can't sing it, however imperfect, it just doesn't come to me in a song Im making.
Stephen is a legend and he has a great real soul to his voice, definitely one of my favorite vocalists ever. I saw Aerosmith in the early 80's at the height of his heroin addiction and he could barely stand on the stage yet his vocals were amazing. 👍✌
Steven is a one of a kind rock singer, and I think he did everything for his Art so no analític wanabe star singer would understand what is the meaning o singing not just with VOICE but soul
So helpful and informative on multiple levels. My brain is full from this! Plus I love the casual way you share your take. I got lost a little when you detailed the brightness of the original recording versus this one (thick and tubby reverb issue) but that's my bad. Will have to relisten.
Most useful isolated voice ever. Especially for me. Because this song I study and exercise entire last month. Daily. For next year on the stage performance. Most hard is for me part 23:56 - 23:58. This part will necessary exercises much intensive than others parts. Even highest notes not so hard a like this 2 seconds. Thanks Ken.....👍👍👍
TH-cam recommended this video so I gave it a look. As someone who studied sound engineering in film school, I find this video totally fascinating. You have a new subscriber. I'll definitely be watching more of your videos. Bravo! Loved it!
Sometimes, just sometimes during concerts, he would sing some lines of a song with a very technical voice, and dare I say, with some vibrato, and MAN he has a beautiful voice! I would love to hear him sing like that more often, but his style is what makes him and aerosmith what they are
Grew up on Aerosmith. Toys in the Attic is my fav!! This song was great for the movie but not one of my favs. Just listening to his isolated vocals tho was fantastic. This is one artist I always had trouble singing along with but understanding the isolation of his voice was very helpful. Great job.
If I may, respectfully, about reverbs: When you listen to isolated vocal tracks, you don't have all the buss and master compression, limiting and eq, so the reverb seems smaller, less present. Reverbs are always cut below say 100-150 Hz to eliminate unwanted low resonations. Echo, delay and pitch fx are cut even heavier on the lows and on highs.
I learned a lot from this video!! And I will study his technique so I can improve and add more flavor to my style of singing!!! I've been watching your video for a year now, and my skills in hearing the tones and styles of singers got more sharp and I also improved my style of singing! Thank you Sir!!
that's so cool you point that out about him being in the song so much it's like he's singing right to the person it's about . I love that it's so cool to hear Steven isolated . thanks again ken. oh that plosive is probably from the size of his mouth which I'm convinced that having a big mouth helps singers .
I'm absolutely loving this series :) thank you so much for breaking down these amazing songs for us. I could listen to you talk about music all day long!
Love your commentary on this one and it’s spot on. I really dig this isolated vocal series as well. Maybe consider doing a Stryper/Michael Sweet track. Id be interested to hear your take on one of his vocal tracks

This is my first Isolated Vocal video. You are so impressive that I could listen to you all day. Now time to catch up on another of these videos. Great idea!
All of those "imperfections" are what make his singing so great. He has a style of his own that just works perfectly for the songs.

Thank you, ABTS APOSTOLIC VOICE!
I love this new format !!!!
Awesome!
I learned a lot from this video!! And I will study his technique so I can improve and add more flavor to my style of singing!!!
I've been watching your video for a year now, and my skills in hearing the tones and styles of singers got more sharp and I also improved my style of singing! Thank you Sir!!
Rock on!
that's so cool you point that out about him being in the song so much it's like he's singing right to the person it's about . I love that it's so cool to hear Steven isolated . thanks again ken. oh that plosive is probably from the size of his mouth which I'm convinced that having a big mouth helps singers .
Thanks for watching, Timothy!
Love his vocals so much!
Always wanted to do a cover of this song!
Thanks for this demonstration!
My pleasure!
I'm absolutely loving this series :) thank you so much for breaking down these amazing songs for us. I could listen to you talk about music all day long!
My pleasure!
Love your commentary on this one and it’s spot on. I really dig this isolated vocal series as well. Maybe consider doing a Stryper/Michael Sweet track. Id be interested to hear your take on one of his vocal tracks
😀👍
I really dug this format and content. Thank you!
Glad you enjoy it!
@@kentamplin I just started the Course! And my new mic arrived today! Lewitt MTP 840 Supercardiod... thought of the breathing stuff today while riding my bike. I’ve known about diaphragm breathing for a long time but not about the lower diaphragm, which I was able to feel today, and the sit-up! Totally cool! Thank you for being amazing! Aloha from Colorado.
man I dont sing, never could, and most likely never will, but I've been binging your videos lately, might as well subscribe :D love the content!
Welcome aboard!
I enjoy your reactions. Just subscribed. I hear you about the part that drives you nuts but to me it is what makes him special. It's his "thing". At least to me.
Thanks for the sub, Marty!
Can't wait to do this course
