Pro tip: I you're cutting down the trees. Cut them as far up as you can safely reach. That leaves a long lever to attach you winch or tractor to to get a lot more leverage. Once they're out, you can trim the stump off. You should also cut a notch in the top of the stump so your line can't slip off. Always grap as high as you can. You had them down by the ground making it much harder due to lack of leverage.

The thing with tractors it they dont like pulling something thats above them.

Sometimes for the bigger stumps I soak the ground around the tree the day before. If you're lucky, you get an inch or so of rain before you pull them and that seems to help a lot. Good persistence and a nice setup. Keep up the good work!

I guess that is why they invented DYNAMITE!

Use chain hoist chain ,wrap it 2x around the stump . It will never slip off bc it’s pulling on itself. Use a semi tire to act as a pivot and your tractor as the power. Place the chain around the stump ,over the tire and back up,stump will uproot

For additional Torq ,side pull on the load line ,then slacken the side pull and take up the slack on the load line, repeat ,same dynamic load multiplying as the advantage of the English LONG Bow vs a short bow transfer to the arrow . I moved a small log cabin sideways with using a 200 ft stretched line set 50 ft away from the cabin ,then bump pulled the cabin with a 1 ton come along slide hooked at mid 100 ft of the 200 ft = the real force came from the 200 ft line going from T shape to Y shape

Only now I saw your "stump pulling" videos. Nice winch mount you built. Next time you have to pull stumps, I would like to kindly suggest you use more line and more pulleys. Instead of using your pulleys "in line" and simply obtain more additional force, try to compound your pulleys and multiply your force. Check videos with compound pulley systems and Brain Homestead channel (on stump pulling). Cheers

Thats stump is so tiny i could hook a chain from my jeep to it and yank out in four minutes😮

Put a notch in the stump

The chain wrapped around the stump lessened the pull power

    Awesome Video 👍
Thought 15tons would do more, what was that tree ? Oak?
I built a frame to test out my 5ton chain hoist using trusses from the roof , and the chain always cut trough them, so I am supprised they didnt cut deeper in the wood..

I wish these magic tricks were mine but no, I’m just passing them along.
12” carbide tooth demolition blades for your Sawzall, get several. The dirt doesn’t hurt them all that much for the short time they are in it, it’s the head-on collisions with the thicker roots. Anywho, carefully plunge full blade depth between roots and cut a circle around the stump.
Lay the garden hose on it In dribble mode for 12-24 hours.
This last step made this guy my hero !! “We don’t need no steenking pulleys and Winches”.
There’s tremendous mechanical advantage in a lever when set up correctly.
I bet this guy has an evil chuckle every time he does this.

Good on you for being persistent. What kind of battery do you use with your winch and did you have to recharge it during this series of pulls?

I pulled the Interstate battery out of my dump trailer. It held up great the whole time.

How many pounds is that badland winch? We're experimenting with pulling stumps as I type this

9,000 pulling strength. I think around 70 physical weight

SEE COMMENT BY DANIEL MEYER/ HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT. YOU DO NOT WANT TOI GO LOWER. ON THE STUMP TO BE PULLED. NICE JOB EFFORT AND TENACITY.
