Lyrics:
Working 9 to 5, what a way to make a living
Barely gettin' by, it's all taking and no giving
They just use your mind and they never give you credit
It's enough to drive you crazy if you let it
9 to 5, for service and devotion
You would think that I would deserve a fair promotion
Want to move ahead but the boss won't seem to let me
I swear sometimes that man is out to get me
Mmmmm...

How can you not fall in love with Dolly Parton. Another classic Dolly hit.
It's possible for Fox News.
This song has aged well, its now about working 7 til 6 and still not being able to afford anything :)

Says the guy on the internet, maybe even using a smartphone. That's at least $300 a month right there. No one in the western world commentating on TH-cam videos is really "poor". Just by our ridiculous standard of living maybe. Now "barely getting by" still stands for many, but let's not act like there's homeless people working 40 hours a week.

The best thing about this song? "It's enough to drive you crazy IF YOU LET IT."
She's right on all the points she brings up, so why wouldn't she be right too on this one?
She just gave me the motivation I needed to look at a change of workplace. Thank you, Dolly!
She’s a national treasure!! Has written nearly 3000 songs in her career. 450 were recorded. Just, wow.
The ticking rhythm is dolly clicking her acrylic fingernails. It's how she worked out the song on set because it sounds like a typewriter. She even has a separate credit on the song for it.
Seriously she's one of the greatest songwriters to walk the planet
are you joking?
@@oakleysierney1918 i can hear it
@@senajabeen1076 but it might be something that merely sounds like fingernails. That's pretty odd.
@Isla Robinson hmm, Let's assume what you're saying is right and Parton made this claim in a documentary. Perhaps I'm jaded but life has taught me to not always take what everyone says at face value.
There is definitely a sound of a typewriter bell that you hear on carraige return that is not nails or any other body part. So they had a real bell sound of a typewriter but for the clicking sound they decided to use her fingernails? Sounds really suspect. Why not just use the real clicking sound of the typewriter?
Edit, well now that I think about it more the clicking rhythm is really precise and it might be hard to get that kind of precision with typewriter keys, so ok I guess I believe it. This was before the kind of electronic soundboards they have now.
