The Mauretania has 4 giant ventilation systems next to each funnel while the Lusitania doesn't. The Mauretania also was 240 meters long (787 feet) while the Lusitania was 239 meters long (784 feet). Lastly, The Mauretania's stern was larger than Lusitania. I hope this helps!
Yes, Lusitania had hinged top ventilators where the Mauretania had traditional cowl ventilators. Also, Mauretania's stern was more rounded as compared to Lusitania's more squared stern. The OP is correct.
It’s absolutely beautiful!! Super excited to *hopefully* get to see this being used in future videos! And looking forward to your Sunday night live! All the best from UK!
Sam, thanks for sharing your unboxing of the Mauritania with us. It also looks like the TH-cam convention went well. Looking forward to seeing clips of that too 😀
Another great video Sam. I am still yet to getting round to ordering one of these models. I cannot wait to see your reaction when your Aquitania arrives. Aquitania is my favourite ship, and it will be interesting to hear more opinions of her from yourself. Take care Sam. God bless
One of the major differences between the two were the vents. Lusitania had “oil drum” vents, the lids of which often blew overboard in storms, while Mauretania had the more traditional cowl vents. Mauretania was also 5 feet longer.
Looks beautiful. I'd love to buy a bunch of these if the wait wasn't so long. Paying full price up front is hard to justify when it could take 2 years for delivery. Instead I wish that they would switch to a 20% NRD system that charges in full once they start painting your model. Also hoping that somewhere down the line we get a Queen Mary and Normandy from them.
Of the six 4-stackers built between Cunard and White Star Line, similar fates played out for both shipping companies. Olympic lost it's sister ship in a great tragedy, same as Mauretania lost the Lusitania. The big difference is the Aquitania went on to live a very long life whereas the Britannic was also tragically lost while still a relatively new ship. White Star certainly suffered a lot of hard luck. Cunard fared much better.
I have a plastic model of the Lusitania somebody was selling on Ebay. Like you I'm more familiarv with the Olympic ships but 'the Lussy' ploayed a big part in history. I would love to find a model of the Britannic painted black like her sisters.
Hey Sam I know a difference between the Lusitania and the Maruetania. That is the Lusitania has Hinge type ventilators which is not very well suited for the rough atlantic, these types of ventilators are mostly used on cruise ships, since they mostly sail in mild areas. But the Maruetania on the other hand has Cowal ventilators which is better suited for the sometimes dangerous north Atlantic. Thus, making Maruetania's deck look cluttered.
I don’t know if you have done this yet but you should do side by side close up comparisons with all of your 1/1000 scale models. I would love to see the difference in size between the Cunard and White Star ships side by side.
Amazing video, Sam! I've been lately getting the histobrick versions of the ships, so far, I got the SS Edmund Fitzgerald, HMHS Britannic, Carpathia, and the SS Nomadic. Only one on pre-order and its the SS Arthur M Anderson. Just recently demo'd my Britannic model that I made back in middle school so that way I have the histobrick version on display. I suggested histobrick to do the Mauretania and Olympic, only reply I got is that they'll have plans on doing those next year
Beautiful model, they really do these models very well! I'm not sure if it's me but I noticed that the Mauretania's funnels look abit more fatter compared to Lusitania's ones or maybe it's just the camera angle, someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not an expert on Cunard ships.
Hey Sam are you also going to get the model of the Britannic ocean liner model like what I mean by that is Titanic honor and Glory did a model of the Britannic ship of the way she was originally going to be a ocean liner before it became a Hospital ship so are you going to get that model as well
How long did have to wait to get your RMS Lusitania model handpainted I just want to know Because Im getting a grey model of the Wilhelm Gustloff soon 🤔😇
I notice that none of the ships have masts on them. I understand that this is impossible with printed models but are you going to jury-rig small masts for them one of these days?
Hey historic travels. I need your help with something you see? I want to buy a Lusitania model but I want it to come in gray so I paint it myself but I need you to tell me somethings 1. How long is a gray Lusitania model gonna take to get here 2. Is it safe to buy from Titanic honor and glory? I need the answers please btw thanks!
yes its safe to buy from them, I have gotten 5 of my 6 orders from them. But remember to get the hand painted models like I did it took nearly 2 years from the time of ordering to delivery. I dont know if its like that now but thats what happened for me. As far as the grey ones I am not sure what the delivery time is on those. I know its not as long as the hand painted but I have heard it still takes awhile. If I had to guess, I say at least 6 months. Also remember they charge you at the time of purchase so take that into account as well. The models are great but the shipping times are rough.
2 years? I wonder why they don't hire more help, or at least stop taking orders until they are caught up. As nice as the models are, that wait time seems unconscionable.
I always wanted to get these models but there is no way I would pay for something and not receive it for 2 YEARS! That is just ridiculous if you have to wait that long for something then they are taking way to many orders then they can fulfill in a timely manner they should not be taking peoples money for that long and making people wait that long for something.
That is why right now they aren’t selling anything and have their store offline, they are currently in the process of refunding and or exchanging over 500 orders for the models(my order included) because they underestimated the demand vs what they had for manpower(one guy(Zeno Silva) and his wife were the sole people printing and painting these models) they really screwed up with this and are hopefully making things right(even though they are still trying to act as if it didn’t happen)

“You can be blasé about some things, Rose, but not about Titanic. It's over a hundred feet longer than the Mauritania and far more luxurious.”

Btw, it's Mauretania...but no prollems.
One of my favorite lines of cal
You should do a 1,200 trumpeter titanic model kit and make a series of building it.
It’s absolutely beautiful!! Super excited to *hopefully* get to see this being used in future videos! And looking forward to your Sunday night live! All the best from UK!
the RMS MAURETANIA was built at swan hunter and the parts of the ship are in a museum in newcastle upon tyne with the big model of the ship
Glad you had a nice time at the convention. Love the unboxing. Wow! Beautiful.
Mauretania’s exterior has started to grow on me recently.
:)
Thanks for an early Christmas Gift! Like a an unveiling! Love You Sam!
Hello Sam that’s so amazing I can see why it takes so long. Lots of love from NightRider
Thank you so much!
No problem man
I really appreciate your videos and your models. 2 years for one model? That is insane - but they are incredibly detailed.
Neat model. I would like to see some of the interior of the ship. I love Titanic. Thanks for the fun and stay safe..
Sam, thanks for sharing your unboxing of the Mauritania with us. It also looks like the TH-cam convention went well. Looking forward to seeing clips of that too 😀
Do more of these videos I loved your olympic unboxing
A suggestion I have is a video on what happened to the titanics mast and marconi cables while she sunk.
I love the paneling in the room your in. My parents had a friend with a old house with that paneling. That ship is cool.

You should enjoy the new Lego Titanic that will be coming out, it will be the longest set lego has made to date and looks incredible for what it is.
That's awesome! Glad you had a good time on your trip, Sam! Definitely can't wait to see the video about the convention :)
Another great video Sam. I am still yet to getting round to ordering one of these models. I cannot wait to see your reaction when your Aquitania arrives. Aquitania is my favourite ship, and it will be interesting to hear more opinions of her from yourself. Take care Sam. God bless

Hay Sam maybe can you do a video on the Mauritania? Because I don’t know anything about it

Nice!!
I do want to get a couple models from titanic honor and glory but I want to get the gray ones because I can make them fit with my other models
I don’t know if you have done this yet but you should do side by side close up comparisons with all of your 1/1000 scale models. I would love to see the difference in size between the Cunard and White Star ships side by side.
Can you do a video of the normondie

Hi Sam can you do a video what if the Titanic's can stay up in the water till the morning
Cool model!
Are you going to do a timeline of the RMS Mauretania's career? Lovely model by the way. My biggest criticism is it need the masts.
Okay, love your channel.
TH-cam convention seems like it needs a grain of salt.
Cool model I like it
Was Rosie happy to see you
I love ocean liners
Wow!
Hey Sam, beautiful model. Also, my birthday is tomorrow.
THAG are adamant they DON’T have a two year waiting list 😆😆
We know different
Hey Sam are you also going to get the model of the Britannic ocean liner model like what I mean by that is Titanic honor and Glory did a model of the Britannic ship of the way she was originally going to be a ocean liner before it became a Hospital ship so are you going to get that model as well
Is that an orange book with letter "げんき” a Japanese learning book? Very cool! 日本語の勉強頑張ってください!(^^)
Did you get to see s2g or the the master bucks or Jaredhd
They are supposed to look alike but the funnels for Lusitania are supposed to be all black with no coloring on them.

I notice that none of the ships have masts on them. I understand that this is impossible with printed models but are you going to jury-rig small masts for them one of these days?
They do have masts, I just dont put them on cause they break so easily

Isn’t Mauretania a pasta sauce? Just kidding, cool model though!
I never knew it was a pasta sauce lol
Was wondering if your models float in water? LoL
2 years? I wonder why they don't hire more help, or at least stop taking orders until they are caught up. As nice as the models are, that wait time seems unconscionable.
Hi,I can’t believe you waited two years for your model you must have a lot of patience. But it’s not good business on their part.
Doesn't look any bigger than the Mauritania
2nd
As far as i'm aware, this model is unavailable for purchase and may be forever.
