Another great save Chris. Looks like sometimes the hardest part of the repair is getting everything apart carefully and then reassembling hoping you didn't forget anything. 👍😯
Hey everyone. Just remember to replace C822 , 220 uF 10V on the main board if you have no power when you press the power button. If this capacitor is faulty, Vcc for the main CPU IC801 is not present so nothing works at all. I just finished replacing this capacitor on mine with ELNA brand computer grade high temperature 220uF 25V rating and now it works a treat, saving it from Ewaste. Yay!!! 🙂 In God we trust.
I have no power, nothing at all. My favorite player! I bought it myself when i was like 12 years old and I am 38 now! This advice will probably save it. Will try it soon, thanks!! 🙏
Had a similar issue. The Qld humidity caused the glue to fail on some of the lenses on a recent model LG TV I rescued from one of my skips causing bright spots. I could hear the lenses rattling round inside the set every time I moved it. A simple fix with some decent glue and a bit of patience!
How do I fix the cd player?I swapped the KSS-210c pickup laser lens reader and I get maybe 2:16 of a song then abruptly stops. I skipp to the next track and won’t read it. I slightly adjusted the laser power trim pot and still nothing.Ive been searching for possible leaky capacitors but not sure which ones to be looking for please help or make a video on this please, let your customer allow the cd part to be repaired lol I want to save this to play my Metal albums😭
I've got two Sony CFD-S350 players. One has a broken connector on the bottom on the AC plug. That's the piece that connects to the power supply. I was unable to locate the AC female plug (not the cord). The other one has a dent on a speaker grill and the display has problems. So I'll part one out and sell the unused pieces on Ebay. P.S. Thanks for the video!
Hi! I’m having the same issue with the tape player on the CFD-S350. Do you have any tips on how to fix it? It only works when I hold the tape player button down, and even then it fast forwards and sounds weird.
That sounds a different problem to this one Lyndsey, but most switch/button type issues can usually be fixed pretty easily. It's most likely a mechanical fault where something isn't contacting properly inside due to wear, a minor breakage or even a broken spring. Good luck in your repair..
I just picked up the exact same boombox and I'm having the very same problem. I've got to hold the "Play" button in place and the tape plays way too fast. It sounds like it's being fast forwarded, but I'm only pushing in the "Play" button. I actually have cassette tapes to play, so I may very well get into this boombox and try and fix it.
Thanks Tonton! Usually the "off" position on many of these things is actually the "tape" position and if there is a dodgy switch on the tape mechanism, the amplifier circuitry could be still powered on and outside interference or "noise" through the mains power can give a crackling through the speakers. That's my guess anyways!
Hey :) i was wondering how hard would it be to mod the cassette record button to somehow record from an aux input or something of some sort. since i know that it is able to record from radio and also cd, how hard would it be to mod a jack input and make it so the cassette recorder can record it?
excellent video btw i just wanted to know more ab the cassette mechanism since i really have no clue ab electronics j just do things by intuition… i also will try to install a pitch knob, it would be so overkill
Thanks for watching and your comments! Sorry, I can't help you with any mods as I'm only a hobbyist repairer and not an electronics technician. I feel it should be possible but cannot advise on the methods.

Hey Chris! Hope you are well. We are going to be in Victoria next weekend (1st & 2nd October), we were thinking we'd make a trip to Ngambie to meet you and Christine (bonus if Coco is around, we'll have our two dogs with us 🐾) and check out your shop! Are you going to be open on Sunday 2nd October? 🙏
Hey Rachel, you guys would be more than welcome to call in here! 👍😃 We have someone running the shop for us on Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning, but should be here for Sunday afternoon (close around 4pm). Hope that time frame works for you guys 😊

My Sony had the same problem as yours. Sound went out on the right speaker also. Thanks to this video on showing how to locate the screws I went ahead and took a screwdriver to it. Found the screws for dismantling the front of the player. Two inside and three outside at the back bottom. I expected to find a loose wire but there wasn't any. Everything looked perfectly fine. So I just clipped the wires and hooked up another speaker to it and it worked!! Couldn't believe it was the speaker given it looked perfect. So I took both speakers out and drilled a hole into each of the metal screen covers, I Ran the speaker wires through them and wired up two six-inch box speakers with bass and tweeters included. I did this while everything was apart. So I turned the power on with the remote and nothing. No Sound from either speaker, What in the world happened? Turns out that when I was unscrewing the speakers from their housing I had to turn the front assembly almost sideways to get to the screws. In doing so I partially pulled out a ribbon cable. I inserted it back in and what a beautiful sound was I hearing. Wish I could send you a video of it all. Thank you so much ultimate recycler. Just sent back a new boombox I got from Amazon to replace this one til I found out it only plays MP3 CDs! None of my store-bought CDs will play on it. No CDA, WMA, or WAV formats. They just don't make things like they used to.
Normally with the standard disconnect, we slide the lug off directly from the circuit Board with Ant wire or cable attached. I mean the back and Ant can be separated as a whole unit in and of itself, enjoyed the Repair. MJ in B'dos
