Why Abati lacks ingenuity: He's a lawyer; therefore, he has a way with words. He's a politician, masquerading as a journalist; therefore, knows how to straddle the fence. He's neither for you nor against you. It is people like him, you must fear. They do more harm than good.
No wonder the words of Rufai and Ayo are consistent and palpable. You know where they stand on any matter.

Is PO the only the presidential candidate that has given support for peaceful protest as been proposed by our angry youths? I think Alhaji Atiku and Sowore too, have also thrown their weights behind same issue. Abbati needs to be more sensitive , unbiased, apolitical and professional in general.

Now that he has achieved his "life-long ambition", anyway & anyhow!,he should do the needful by stopping what he ignited on May 29, 2023 when he said " subsidy is gone",by pruning the pump price of petrol( PMS) to 200 naira. He(Tinubu) should remember that when GOD strikes, he(TINUBU) will not be able to stand, not to talk of breaking His rank. Nigerians are dying of hunger and hopelessness. The government’s framing of planned protests-rooted in hunger, hardship, and dissatisfaction with governance-as susceptible to being “hijacked” raises significant concerns. This narrative can deflect attention away from the pressing issues that millions of citizens are facing. Instead of addressing the legitimate grievances behind the protests, this line of thinking risks trivializing the very real struggles that are driving people to take to the streets.
By suggesting that protests could be compromised or manipulated by outside forces, the government creates a narrative of fear and destabilization. This not only casts doubt on the legitimacy of citizens’ concerns but also positions the government as a protector against perceived chaos rather than a responsive entity that should be addressing the needs of its constituents. Such framing can serve to marginalize the voices of those who are expressing their dissatisfaction with the status quo.
Addressing the root causes of unrest-such as food insecurity, rising costs of living, and governance issues-should be the primary focus of any responsible administration. By addressing these grievances openly and committing to finding solutions, the government could build trust and demonstrate its responsiveness to the needs of the populace. Ignoring or downplaying these issues in favour of a narrative centered on potential disorder only alienates citizens further and deepens their frustration.
Furthermore, this approach risks painting all protesters as troublemakers, which is not only untrue but also counterproductive. Many citizens engaged in protests are doing so peacefully and with the hope of effecting positive change. Engaging constructively with them and acknowledging their concerns could lead to more productive outcomes and a more stable society.
In conclusion, it would be far more beneficial for the government to recognize and address the legitimate issues driving protests rather than framing the situation as one that could spiral out of control. Listening to citizens and taking concrete steps to alleviate their hardships would not only serve to stabilize the sociopolitical environment but also reaffirm the government's commitment to the well-being of its people. Such an approach fosters dialogue and cooperation, rather than fear and division.

Nigerians are suffering! Hunger is too much in the land. The ruling class is widening the gap of disparity each passing day by their flamboyant lifestyle which they make from taxpayers money. We want a government that shows sympathy by action, not by words. Cut down the cost of governance and stop acting as if you are not aware that people are dying of hunger! I don't believe Nigerians are divided over the protest rather some small portion of Nigerians have been bought over to divide the one voice in solidarity of the protest. Well my thought on this is the government shouldn't worry. The protest will be peaceful.

Please don't mind them. People who are really impacted by this hunger and state of NIgeria in general are not divided. Please don't mind the media.

Rufai, everyone could understand what is happening but, don't allow your emotional to over rule your positive submission.
Although it is the government duty to give protection to the citizens, but that does not mean government will be able to easily fish out the unscrupulous elements among the protesters who are protesting peacefully.
So, you can't blame government if some unscrupulous elements starts to steal, vandalise etc... and say it's government duty.

The truth of the matter is that the government does not want to be challenged or embarrassed. Their paranoia is having a chilling effect on free speech and democracy in general.
