The President Tinubu Sunday morning speech in response to the nationwide protest, at best can be described as campaign speech, still campaigning after wining election, without any definite action taken to address the demands of the protesters. This underscores the utter insensitivity with which he increased the price of fuel by over 800% in the guise of subsidy removal, without any mitigation plans on the Consequential increment of prices of all other commodities, as well as taxing the citizens on many fronts

Tinubu said while campaigning that he will reduce the citizens purchasing power and widen the Tax net. And that’s what he is doing. The real protest that will shake the foundations of Nigeria in the future will not be announced. This one is just a warning. Hence, the government should stop being deaf to the plight of the more than 200m hungry people and do the needful quickly which is to bring fuel price to 200 naira, peg the exchange rate and others.

  • @francisokafor4115

I think Tinubu is grossly heartless not to have address the major issues on ground; HIGH COST OF PUMP PRICE which brought about incessant in increase in the cost of food items, high cost of movement and the rest. An hungry man is an angry man, there is hunger in the land, majority of the people can no longer afford a square meal any longer. If Tinubu is not capable of restoring fuel subsidy, reduction of electricity tarrifs, eliminating multiple taxes imposed which were the major cause of the hardship in the country, then Tinubu must resign or forcefully removed.

The people who always said that Tinubu is smart, are themselves unintelligible, dull and foolish. Tinubu that delegated question at chartam house in the UK. Someone that never attended a debate, and when he was asked a question at a forum he said he doesn't want his opponent to spy on him because he's the first speaker and people clapped for him. He gives a speech and said he will reduce the purchasing power of the people and then slow down the economy and then tax everybody. He's doing exactly that, why aren't people taking about that, instead i see people that are supposed to be educated comes on national TV to say Tinubu is a smart man. That's how low our education has sunk because you can say anything and the young ones will believe because they don't have the education to distinguish between what is being said, the truth, and the reality. So sad.

The main problems with Nigerian authorities is that there is absolutely no accountability. No accountability in the way the government and its parastatals spend the people's money, no accountability for any loss of life affecting the ordinary poor masses, no accountability for inadequacy or any lack of social amenities and no accountability for implementing financial policies that throws the country and the people into untold and unnecessary hardship and financial turmoils. Therefore i agree with the panellists that the government seems to have allowed the plunderers of our commonwealth to go scott free whilst the innocent citizens are continually being punished and penalized.

What Kyari did in NNPCL with impunity is more damaging with more widespread negative effects than what Emefiele did under directive.

If i may ask , is Yahaya Bello the former governor of Kogi state among the invincible cabals that could not be arrested and brought to book? It is always easy to arrest and detain the common criminals but not those that loot the country dry, bringing untold hardship to the generality of the populace. That's number one failure of the government. The government will be strongly said to lack the will and ability to address this serious imbalance. It is simple to state that the law is made only for the poor but not the rich - even the known thieves that have looted the treasury dry, are deliberately allowed to go skotch free. All are partners in sinking the ship of this business entity called nigeria.

You keep on interviewing the rich elite in the country, how would you want to understand the plight of the masses. He calls for the end of the protest because he doesn't suffer like an average Nigerian because he has the money to buy whatever he needs. The demands of the people were not made and you want them to stop the protests for them to go back to the same old ways. People hardly eat two times a day not to talk of three. I weep for our generation to come. Nigeria is heading back to the 18th century. A country blessed with mineral resources yet cannot boast of a single refinery all because of bad governance. Nigeria is doomed
