    One of the best things about this game is that there is no gap in power between the martial classes and spellcasters (psykers). Psykers can do a lot with their abilities but that is balanced by the Perils of the Warp. Unlike the D&D, when martials are just there to hold the chaff at bay while the spellcasters kill everything.

    I've been working on a Wrath & Glory campaign/session. It will be my first tabletop RPG experience ever.
    It's true that there is no much details or depth given by the books about lore and stuff. But there is certainly a very positive aspect about it:
    You get more liberty, almost total liberty, to create an universe, a story, and so on.
    My campaign will begin at the Gilead system, but on a planet I created myself. It will be in a hive city I will develop myself, and in a large (and yet small) District I created myself. So I have full liberty in creating Factions, drawing the map, and building narratives, quests, and so on. And it doesn't even matter if the players decide to blow up the entire city or the entire planet in the future, because Warhammer 40k lore guarantee that there are billions of different planets populated differently and organized differently for different lore accurately reasons.
    So the game can happen in Gilead System or not. In one of it's many planets or not. It can happen anywhere you want and in anyway you want it. And this is something written in the book. You are encouraged to create new spells, new weapons, news enemies, etc.
    The negative aspect is just the time you'll take to organize this stuff. This makes harder, maybe impossible, to do a quick "sit and go" game. Since the players might not even know a thing about the universe. And the book doesn't give much details. Wich would make improvisation very complicated.

    Agree! Running this at Adepticon this year! Got three adventures I will be talking about soon after running them at the Con. I do have some worries about the randomized players that will sit down at my table due to the fact that they will likely be 40K players but fortunately I have been playing with Games workshop products since 1992 so the lore should not be a problem. But the min/makers will need “shepherding” (to put it nicely!) 😅

    Well, you certainly got me interested in the game even though I'm not very familiar with the setting. It's something I've looking at for years knowing I should take a deep dive and it wasn't until I watched the short film Astartes that I realized how much I was missing out.
    I played a few sessions of games based in Dungeon World and I found it kinda lacking character options for my taste. But since I played all of those games with mostly the same group very familiar with the system I also consider that maybe my experience has more to do with the way they like to play than with the game itself. Still next Saturday I'll be playing a Urban Shadows game, we'll see if things feel any different.
    Also I'm currently running a (maybe short) adventure of Numenéra. I fell in love with the setting and the Cypher System, kinda wanna convert everything I like to those rules.

  • @mentalkitty789

    Late to seeing this but Wrath & Glory is hands down my favorite system of all ttrpgs talking purely mechanically. My main complaint about it is it being 40k coded even though I love 40k. Mostly because I'd love to have a similar system for Warhammer Fantasy or a generic system to apply to any setting I please (a bit like genesis from fantasy flight games).
    I love the tiers of play clearly denoting the tone and power level of a campaign, getting XP every session to represent incremental growth, and the numerous ways to customize and live out almost any character idea you'd like! Not to mention how good dice pools feel, there is also the fun of the campaign deck from the OG version, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Wrath to make narrative declarations!!

    • @polyhedron3386
      @polyhedron3386  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yep I'd love to see a generic version of the system. They seem to be standardizing on the system that powers Soulbound though, which they are calling the C7d6 system. It's similar but different. I do think that if you like the W&G system you'll like the Soulbound one as well. Their latest game The Laundry uses the Soulbound system pretty much exactly.

      actually no eldar get huge bonuses to psychic stuff but its sorta nestled in the rules so i could see how you missed it. page 282 of the core rule book says that all roll perils of the warp differently and that craftworld eldar can once per test reroll a wrath die if it lands on a 1 making them super consistant and safe. they also get more disciples by default.

    We aboslutely love Wrath and Glory. We can get the choice between being beefy horde killers or something slightly more investigative. I feel it maybe fits reasonably well between Deathwatch (although this is much more high-powered) and maybe the new Imperium Maledictum rpg (although we've not played this yet!). Lots of crunch too, but pretty easy to get new characters made quick and into the action fast! :)

    Genuinely love the system but my friend groups are all so busy with our ongoing D&D campaigns that we can never squeeze in time to try a new system. I’m super big into pushing them to try new systems but it’s very rare that we do, and only half of us really like Warhammer 40k (the other half are the partners to those who have the plastic crack addiction so they’re not the biggest fans lol). Definitely need to push them to get a game in soon and try it

    More powerful characters with a higher survivability doesn’t dilute the grimdark of 40K. There is still oppression and death everywhere and a desperation to survive. As long as the PCs care about NPC losses, they’re higher-powered characters can still be brought low by the deaths of others.

    DH is very narrative driven combat should be a small part of it as combat is so brutal if u had any where near as much combat as D&D u will die very quick, grim dark can be brought in though a compelling story line but if there is very little danger in the game like there is in D&D the narrative side of grim dark is going to feel a little hollow

    How is the economy?
    I still pay the Dark Heresy 1e, and I'm not a huge fan. It's very stifling.
    And especially in things like Star wars The economy is just don't feel fun or realistic like simple basic things cost insane amounts of money that you can't possibly have.
    In dark heresy I always feel very limited because like everything costs hundreds to thousands of thrones and you get money in the tens.

    • @rickz56
      @rickz56 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The economy system is a little different. You don't track specific currency, but you have points of "wealth" that could represent anything narratively (the fingerbone of a saint, xenotech, ork teef). You use these to make tests to requisition gear easier. You need to roll a test to ask vendor npcs for gear. The rarer the gear, the higher the roll. Hope that makes some sense!
