Great content. I use good lock for my notifications. When there's a notification, pop corn pops up from the bottom of my screen, or if I get something sent to me from my wife, I get little pictures of my family falling from the top of my screen. It's in regi star.

I just came from an S7 to the S24U (I know...hell of an upgrade) and was shocked to find no LED notification feature built in. I'm so used to it that it was unsettling not having it, so thanks for this video! Sucks that you have to add yet another app though. For all the tons of features they added, seems odd that Samsung decided to take such a basic thing out of their phones.
On a related question, is there no way to have the built in edge lighting do the same thing? I REALLY like the glitter effect and would love that to stay on until the notifications are read.
You can't sadly do the edge lighting Indefinitrly wish it was possible

I know, right?!? I had an S8 until last week. I don't live with my phone in my hand and I have missed several calls and texts already because I'm used to seeing the flashing light.
Had to back up the video a couple of times....but then I'm almost 60. lol
Man I went from s10+ to s24+ and my god this phone is great big upgrade

Is there a setting that keeps the notification flashing , as opposed to it flashing a few times then stopping?

3:37 - I have a problem. I can't get Always On Display checked. It's still Red X'd. How can I fix this?

@@ellev5092 no I have not figured it out. I forgot about it and just tried it. I tried toggling it off, then back on. No luck. My last option, Draw on Screen is also red.
@@ellev5092 I've finally figured it out, got help from the XDA forums. This is the instruction I got:
In Settings >Lock screen and AOD, Always On Display must be turned on and when to show must be set to Always.
To find the "When to show" option, tap "Always on Display" (make sure it's on), then it leads you to more options. Change "When to show" to always. For me, now everything is blue.
I just tested it by plugging in my phone, I now see a blinking circle around my front camera.
It looks like there's a few more options if you buy the Pro version, $4.99. Maybe I will at some point. I'm guessing the guy who did the video has the Pro version, since I'd tried some battery options, but they were locked out and only available on Pro.

Hey Jeff i decided to give this app a try. One thing I find slightly annoying is the LED keeps lighting up when im currently on my phone. Obviously I can see my notifications as im on the phone so I wanted the light up notifications for when I havent been using my phone & then I can see the blinking LED. Does that make sense? (Its early am so maybe im not) lol
You can adjust the setting in the app as to when the LED should stop - when screen is unlocked, when you read the notification or when you clear them.

Do you know how to get the S24 Ultra pin unlock to work without hitting okay after you enter your pin? Example: if you power cycle and you have to enter your pin there use to be an option to turn on unlock after entering pin without hitting okay. On my S24 Ultra I have to hit okay. I love that feature and looked everywhere and can't find it
You have to set a pin with more than 4 digits then it works 😊
on my S20FE I have a 4-digit numeric PIN code. When you set a new PIN, there's an option below that allows to "confirm PIN without tapping OK". I don't know it the s24 has this option. I also have face recognition and/or fingerprint unlock, therefore the PIN is used only when the phone restarts.
Does this work with Edge Lighting?
I just want my indicator light for when my phone is charging

Like the Video but when I tap the always on Display & turn the setting on then tap back to the App it does not show checked so how do I get it to work or do I hit the red X to clear it then add later or does it need to have a Green check ✔

How is downloading & installing an app, a 'hidden trick'?
Not knocking the idea - but there are several apps that are better because they will work on the lock screen if you want, and not getting how this is a hidden trick? Hidden would be not needing an app and the phone itself can do it.
Which apps?
I wish samsung would bring that function back, so we don't have to keep AOD on, which uses quite some battery.
If I didn't care about the battery life, i would just leave stock AOD on, meaning there's no need for this, it's just a matter of personal taste...
What I am looking for is a function to have this type of notification hint without changing AOD nor edge lighting.

Five days in with my S24 from an S8!! Might take me another 7 years to get this one customized!! I tried the app but don't like that it has to have the screen on always (battery drain). Anyway, there is actually a setting for colored notifications on the phone, BUT it is a camera flash or screen flash, which you can customize (all apps or selected ones). Yaaay Samsung....ALMOST!! I'm still playing around to see if it just works one time, continuous, etc. I'm also factoring in the notification reminder (every 3 minutes). I don't have a definitive answer yet, as I'm trying to accomplish what everyone else is (without an app). Either way, it's in the accessibility settings. I can see why the setting would be there being considering those who may be hearing impaired. Either way, here are the steps which I got from the Samsung site in another country.
You are able to turn on a setting on your device where the LED indicator (camera's flash light) will light up when the screen has been turned off to notify you and show statuses of sound recording, unread notifications, missed calls, alarm sounds and low battery levels.
To turn this on this feature follow the below steps:
Open the Settings on the device.
Scroll down and select Accessibility
Tap Advanced Settings
Select Flash notification
Click the Toggle beside Camera Light / Screen Flash to turn on.
UPDATE: I haven't been able to get this to work. The screen lights up if it is on, but that's it. I set a notification reminder, but it is only a ring tone that chirps at minimum every 3 minutes. No lights. I tried!
I read that the discontinuing the LED was to accommodate seemless edge to edge screens so no space for the LED. Doesn't make sense to me. If an app can do execute the same function, why can't Samsung do the same? Maybe just a psychological trick to keep us on our phones more...🤔
@@esseyepeepeewhyI'd have no problem with that and would even prefer it IF the edge to edge lighting functioned in the same way as the old LED notification reminder. I.g. edge lighting would flash every minute or whatever until you read the notification. Hoping Samsung does an update to remedy this at some point or an app comes along that functions like the app in this video, but using the ETE lighting. Really seems bizarre to me that Samsung wouldn't automatically have done something this basic considering the crazy customization it's known for.
@@IntramorphI'm right there with you. I'm almost at my 30 day mark and besides not having the LED, I'm not impressed by some of the added features. Hopefully it doesn't too long to fix the bugs. Samsung has too many loyal customers to get something so simple wrong.

It's not a "Hidden Trick", it's a years old app, working on any Android phone.
This hidden trick is AMAZING!
Anyone else having issues with edge lighting being really dim when the screen is turned off? It's almost unreadable. Is this a known issue and if so is there fix? I've already messed with all the advanced settings and it just isn't anywhere near as bright as the s20u.
That app seems like a good option, but one of the (many!) app permissions asks literally for FULL access to your phone and my phone alerts me to be careful with that. I'm not really comfortable to grant a full access to my phone to a third party app. So no, I didn't install it
