Very nice demonstration of hairspray chipping. Ive only about it, and seen the after effects. Never seen and actual demonstration before. Thank you Aaron and FSM.
That's my kind of fun making scale models, try something new, mess it up, learn a little bit, then mess it up again in a different way on the second attempt :P
It should be mentioned that not all hairsprays work with all paints. Hairsprays with high alcohol content will react with some acrylic paints. You make this technique look very easy, but it requires testing and practice. The amount of hairspray and paint applied will affect the outcome.
Fantastic video Aaron! I must say that this technique works with Acrylic Lacquers such as our range as well. It needs a little more harder scrubbing than with a water based paint, but it is still able to be done to create very effective weathering effects.
Hi Aaron that was a great demonstration, how long do you wait after you spray the topcoat before you start the weathering? Very bedt regardx from Australia, Les
Gee. If you plan on continuing with interrupting the content with an ad (ANY ad), I'll have to cancel my sub and find another source for modeling tips. There are plenty out there, and some DON'T put ads in the middle or beginning. SOME put the ads at the end (that's okay) and others simply don't run ads (even better!). My first official DISLKE for the channel.
Always an excellent presentation. Aaron does the best how-to videos.
Thank you! We appreciate that.
Thanks! Love the Tee Shirt!

You're welcome, Bob! We are happy to help! Thank you for watching!
Cool weathering effects 👍
Great tip! Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching!
I'm a HO scale train guy. This could be enormously useful for structures as well as freight cars.
Definitely!
looks super cool and pretty easy, can't wait to see how much I mess this up the first time :D

Great tips, but what I liked most was how often the models changed behind you while talking to the camera
Brilliant technique .....well done Aaron

Buy the cheapest spray… can’t go wrong
A very good demonstration. Thank you!

We'll have to give that a try!
Great demo and tips !
FYI, this works with lacquers, as well. However, it takes more effort to get it to chip and the chips tend to be a little bit bigger.
Chippy-Ho!
Thanks

Love the step by step but need help with producing chips versus wearing on aircraft to get that silver metal look will you be doing a video about that
Great video, but what about decals for planes? does one chip before decals or after?
So, can you decant hairspray from the can in order to apply it with your airbrush for that additional control mentioned at the beginning of the video?
We haven't tried doing that. We'll get back to you.
How long do you need to dry the first paint before using hairspray ?
Let your base coat dry thoroughly.
*NOOOOOO!!!!.... Where's the Eagle gone? Sure the german 251 Halftrack is cool... But... The Eagle mate. THE EAGLE!!!!*
