So true - I played against a Dimir mill deck the other day - one more swing and I would've killed him, but he managed to empty my library. I just realized that I have been literally studying how to play mtg. This would have to be my FAVORITE video so far (my 2nd fav is with Joe from True Blood...). For her to just learn the game 5 minutes before playing with Day9 yet playing so skillfully is great for someone who is just learning. The swamp deck is my favorite deck...she is playing some cards I need in my life. I'm ready to check my booster decks now, do some switching lol. Intentionally, I'm going to watch this twice. You know what? I'm going to save it after watching it again.
This is the only episode I've watched and I can already tell this is probably the best one. Blue/Black, her demeanor, how bad Sean lost, and the flavor text at the end was such lovely icing on the cake 😂
Not saying that Sean intentionally lost here, but this is one of the exact ways I get people into Magic: I give them a control deck and let them feel the glee of total domination. Once they take that first hit, they're hooked on the game.

The deck Allison played looks super fun so I spent a day to search perfect cards and finally came up with my own dimir deck. Super stoked to see how it does against my friends.

I am still pretty new to Magic (only play with ny boyfriend) and I love how this series takes it's time to explain card mechanics and doesn't assume the viewer knows everything. And she really did embody Dimir! I loved it!
I don't get the appeal of having "professional" MtG players on the show. They add nothing of value to the show - Spellslingers is not, never was, and never will be about competitive gameplay. The charisma of Sean Plott is wasted on them anyway. That said: This is probably my favorite episode this season. Including ugly snort-laughs.

If you peruse the comments section, you will find a good number of people complaining that Spellslingers invites new players, because they want to see professional gameplay. I have nothing against professional MtG players, it's just that their skill level isn't what makes the show entertaining. It's the person behind the skill.

@@graywolf182 Nope. The decks are pre-constructed, and I think they may even pre-choose which decks each player is using, but the game itself is real.

The deck Allison played looks super fun so I spent a day to search perfect cards and finally came up with my own dimir deck. Super stoked to see how it does against my friends.

No no no no no, he lost at -2. Darkblade Agent came in that turn, it still had summoning sickness. No vigilance, can't attack or use tap abilities. He still lost, though.
haste is the keyword that lets you attack or use tap abilities the turn you're played

Salt is her shtick, I get it, but happy that she loosened up a bit by the end.
I've seen Allison on so many G&S related things that I forgot for a moment how much I loved her character in WH13. It's been so many years now!

I am still pretty new to Magic (only play with ny boyfriend) and I love how this series takes it's time to explain card mechanics and doesn't assume the viewer knows everything.
And she really did embody Dimir! I loved it!
I don't get the appeal of having "professional" MtG players on the show. They add nothing of value to the show - Spellslingers is not, never was, and never will be about competitive gameplay. The charisma of Sean Plott is wasted on them anyway.
That said: This is probably my favorite episode this season. Including ugly snort-laughs.
I mean LSV added to the charisma pretty well. Don't discredit all pro players. :-)

If you peruse the comments section, you will find a good number of people complaining that Spellslingers invites new players, because they want to see professional gameplay. I have nothing against professional MtG players, it's just that their skill level isn't what makes the show entertaining. It's the person behind the skill.
@jvalex18 well aside from the fact that Sean's intro should be pretty self-explanatory? It's a show where Sean plays MtG with his nerd friends. ;)
