Chapter 2 is simple.
The Knight Ring is a pain, but the rest of the map is simple with proper usage of the tools available.

Technically "colour" is the proper spelling. When Europeans settled in the 13 colonies, it was expensive to print anything, so they got rid of excess letters in words, usually "u," resulting in the different spellings of the same word.

James Nnabuihe Also it was due to Webster (yes, the dictionary guy) wanting to 1- separate British spelling from American to be as independent as possible, and 2- create standardized English so it would be easier to learn by changing a few words (defence to defense, risque to risk, etc)
