Very inspiring. I was looking into making one out of tpu but now I can see that I have a more fun rabbit hole to go down: injection molding😅

Not bad. A couple thoughts on the final product. 1) could create a groove for an O-Ring type seal. that way wouldn't have to worry about sanding as much and help with the clamp seal. 2) Instead of the oil as a release agent - could use something like an automotive wax, or even bees wax. But pretty cool idea :)
