I've built quite a few of these kits for the shelves in my daughters room and they're great fun! I really love the time lapse sequences of the build which I could have done with as a guide when building my own. 10/10.
Very cool! When you started out and said you were only going to weather it, I told my wife “he really needs to paint it”, and you did. Otherwise it would have looked like a toy! Model on! 😎
Yeah, it looks like a rusted-out war machine now! 😁 I think the Guntank was one of the designs that WASN'T revived after the original Mobile Suit Gundam TV series and Movie Trilogy. I know the Guncannon (the red Federation mobile suit) appeared in Gundam 0083 piloted by Chuck Keith (who wasn't a very good mobile suit pilot). The Zeon designs from the original Gundam held up better than the Federation mobile suits, IMHO. I did like the look of the redesigned/updated Gundam RX-78-2 in the Gundam Origin series. The original 1979 Gundam design looks weird and outdated but that updated origin version is a nice mobile suit -- basically similar to the Gundam 0083 RX-78 designs (GP01 and GP03).
PS -- The best way to watch the original Gundam is probably just watch the Gundam Trilogy which is the three-part theatrical edit of the TV series. It covers the main points and still has plenty of action in addition to revised/better animation in some parts. I've watched about a 1/3 of the TV version but stopped about 3 years ago. Based on the Trilogy, MS Gundam is still one of the best installments in the Gundam franchise. I think it might be better by Zeta Gundam but there's really not much else better than the original Gundam TV series itself. Gundam 0083, Gundam Wing, and Gundam Seed are basically retellings of the original MS Gundam TV series. Wing is the most obvious retelling with fancier mech designs. The storytelling was still better in the original Gundam, IMHO. It holds up better than Wing does all these decades later. Don't get me wrong -- I still like Gundam Wing but it's not as good as the original Gundam.
