This was really interesting and in formative. I have a 370z sport pkg 6MT that had a slightly leaking pinion oil seal at about 5K miles. When I took it to the dealer to get it fixed they replaced the diff with another unit under warranty. I saw the two diffs laid out side by side in the shop before reassembly and it was evident the new diff case was slightly larger and had more finning on it. It looks to me as if Nissan sent one of those diffs that you were talking about that was meant for use in cars in a hot environment, very interesting.
Yessir, if Nissan deduced that the differential failure was due to a possible high temperature, they will replace it with the finned housing. It's very rare. However, with that said, all of the 2023+ Z's now have them too!
What an absolutely amazing video! Super informative and detailed, I cannot express how much this video will help me when I build my r200 for my g35. Thanks for taking the time to document your process! Cheers!
So you can visually see that the drive shaft is spinning while in gear? And yet the differential is not engaging the axles and wheels? Sounds like the spider gears are snapped internally. You'll need to source another differential or rebuild
@user-bl2vw1mu4g hmmm, not sure what he means. There is a cir-clip inside that holds the axles in. But I doubt that's the problem. Can you check to see if the axles have popped out from the sides of the differential?
@@z31online @z31online yes the c clip ,change that alredy but it still pop out it started hapen after i change tyre got aligment bfore my car had some negative camber till point where inner side of my tyre was showing thread but outer side was still thick after got tht aligment next day it starts to pop out , somone said cus my axle extended to much which cause the diff stub to pull out ,he said i need longer axle, axle spacer or jus adjust the arms so tht wheels go in bit

@@z31online totally, I just put a diff in my z 😃👍
Damn, I was reeeeeally hoping that crush sleeve could be replaced without taking everything apart😢
How were you able to mount this in your z31? Did you have to cut into the suspension crossmember?
You have to do the s13/s14 subframe swap for the rear.
@@z31online thank you! Im hoping to do the same in mine, and your channel has been a very valuable resource!
Thank you! I'll be making more and more videos!

Couldn't you reuse the old crush sleave since everything was in spec with it?
Possibly, yes. But they are only $10. Not worth the effort if it didn't work out.
