    This fellow is so talented he can make any horn sound good! Yes, that $280 "Bach Stradivarius" is cheap and fake, but it just sounds great when he plays it. I'd buy it if it could help me sound like him. What a gifted musician!

    Hmmm, I've got horns that cost 10 times as much, and still don't sound half as good as you do on that!
    I've always maintained that it's the player, and not the instrument, and you're living proof of that, Trent.

      @@austincustom I know many are afraid to say it loudly but Bach Strads (and similar brands) are overrated. Due to the nature of trumpet, it is indeed the player and not the horn, assuming the basics are working. I bet any Chinese sub-$500 trumpet would perform similarly to any overpriced brand horn.

  • @delilahfunkhouser7558
    @delilahfunkhouser7558 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yep. I’ve been playing on this horn for 3 years, obliviously to the fact that it was a fake, until today. I posted a question to a trumpet forum about getting replacement finger buttons, and many people pointed out that my horn was not a real Bach Strad.

    I have actually pretty good experience with Chinese cheap instruments, but not with fakes, with official Chinese brands. Heck, I think Yamaha YTR4335II is made in China, which is a better instrument (to my taste) than my JP by Taylor.

    • @austincustom
      @austincustom  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      We import lots of Chinese instruments (and then modify them of course before selling to the consumer) but that's not really my point. The point is the counterfeit nature of this. To rip off people ain't cool.

    • @ChaplainAcosta
      @ChaplainAcosta 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@austincustom I agree that stealing someone's brand is definitely wrong. However, is it a ripoff it it's only $280 and, as you yourself said, sounds good? On the other hand, what about horns that sell for $8K or $9K and don't sound 4800% better than the $200 horns? Is marketing a way to ripoff people? The ethics. Hm. smh

    • @stevenuttley
      @stevenuttley ปีที่แล้ว

      There is one particular $10k horn that sounds dreadful to my ears. Way worse than the fake Bach which actually sounds pretty good to be honest.

  • @perryparsons9960
    @perryparsons9960 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    As always, you do a great job making it sound good.
    I took some made in China junk in trade, when 3 months into some poor beginner's journey it fell apart, and the parents didn't have the funds to buy a new, real trumpet. I'd give them 100 bucks credit for the trade in (most of the time, the case was better than the trumpet, flute, or clarinet they traded, my 1941 Conn 2-B resides in a Monique case) and most of the kids were sort of sad, when they got an Olds Ambassador, or Getzen 300, or Conn Director trumpet in various stages of shiny for their next instrument.
    I always made a point of doing a quick lesson with them, and always got that charge seeing them wake up to how much easier it was to play and how much better they sounded, on a quality instrument.

  • @ChaplainAcosta

    Trent, would you do a sound comparison between counterfeit and the genuine? You said the genuine Bach Strad had a richer tone. Would you sound different playing each with the same mouthpiece?

    Almost bought one fake from Facebook marketplace. Asking $500. brand new, aquired from a storage auction. Looked too good to be true. Lucky I didn't get it.
    I think if I was to get a fake, I'd purchase it for $200 max.

    The engraving on the bell does actually read “Model 43”, not “143”. I think the confusion about the model number is because they used the numeral 1 (instead of the letter l) in the word “Model”.

      Bundys are great Horns!!! Very good in Intonation and Response and well made!!! One of the best Students Horns out there! Super for playing outside.... where a Bach Strad is too expensive.
      I use my Bundy now for more than 5 years and im still very satisfid with the Horn!

    It looks more like a Frankenstein. It’s a mix of a Bach with Schilke finger buttons and a Xeno pinky hook. And what to say about the model # LR180S 43 itself. It’s not a reverse lead pipe “R”, it’s not silver plated “S” and I doubt it’s a 43 bell. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
