One trick that sometimes works when you're just about out of options....pull straight back on the snagged lure, put some tension on the line, then quickly open the bail or click your line release to quickly release the line tension. This may cause the lure to launch forward of where it was snagged and free it up. Works for snags on rocks in rivers/creeks as well as snags in trees.

Next time if you don’t have a line cutter put the line on a rock and hit the line with another rock, that works perfect 😂

I'm at the lake right now, I tried tip #3: "use a stick" and it worked! I can't believe it. Thank you so much!

You just gave me a funny priceless recollection. Thank you :) The trick when you are over a log works great and I am quite skilled at it. My brother in law not so much. He miss timed it so well it wrapped around a high branch like 299 times (slight exaggeration there). It was the funny moment for the trip :)

I fish snaggy river banks and carry a small stick along with my pliers. I usually attach my weights with light line and sacrifice it and save my leader and hook.

Tip #2 during summer months is the best. When its warm enough swim and wade out to your lure haha.

A trick that usually works for me is getting one of those clip swivels and a weight with a loop, attach the weight to the swivel which you connect to your line. Give the line some slack (about 6-7 ft past where you think the lure is stuck) and then throw that weight as hard as you can straight past where your lure is and it will rip the lure right out of the log, rocks or weeds that its stuck in ;) also, make sure your drag is set tight and your rod is secured cause it might just fly away if your line is strong enough! It doesn't always work but it's my last effort before just snapping or cutting the line

Very well put together and informative video.
The best of those tips for me has always been a strong braided line (at least 20lb test) and a good knot along with the stick trick. I've bent hooks to hades to free the lure that way. The scariest part is having twin treble hooks come flying towards your face at the force of a baseball. Lol.

Another trick that has saved me close to a thousand dollars over the last two years is to carry a landing net with an extendable pole so I can reach any lures close in, eg bushes or rushes etc. Snag them with the net and drag them out. Paid for that net many times over. Also use it for landing the fish so I don't lose them dragging them up the bank.

I lost 2 lures today fishing for salmon. I changed the angle and loosen my line, and didn’t work. I think because I pulled the tip of my rod up instead of pulling back. I will try your advice. Thanks.

Or get 20 gram lead with swivel, put 4 chains each of 25cm, use snap item and retrieval line, let it slide down your main line, jiggle 10 times to get it close to lure, and pull back retrieval line. Another solution is to string main line like you are shooting arrow from bow.

Pulling straight back on a snagged jig or lure with a bullet weight is a good way to injure yourself or your partner. If it turns loose, it WILL come back at you like the bullet that it is. You didn't even mention the bow-string technique of unsnagging- that is the most effective method to use, by far.

Getting snagged and then reeling in to find that your line didn’t break feels better than catching a fish sometimes

Wrapping your line around your pilers is a bit better than a stick .

Treble hooks are not necessary on lures they only cause more snags. Putting a regular hook of your choice facing backwards will greatly reduce snags

Tip no. 7. Do not look directly into what you are pulling, look away. Your eyes worth much more than your lures.
